    Yes it is completely different! We love taking the mick out of ourselves (And the English) and can actually take a joke!

    the thing with comedy is, it is meant to touch sensitive subjects such as the great famine. It gets people to think about it. The best comedy is MEANT to touch these kind of subjects and make people uncomfortable.

      Yes. Real comedy is essentially rooted in uncomfortable truths. But when you're laughing at your own, whilst making no point whatsoever (other than the fact that you're a scumbag) that's a different thing. Where's the nobility in that? Where's the "genius"? PS: Don't make excuses for this fuck.

    I feel you need to know this to make your point even slightly valid- THIS is how you spell CRAIC.

    I mean no offence, lads, but I agree that joking about the famine is probably a bad idea. I had hoped it would be clever. If it's clever I may like it anyway, but I've heard more than one comedian make almost this precise joke, and it's just too easy a joke to make, unless you know why it was never called a 'famine' by anyone experiencing it. Then it becomes a difficult joke to make. The bit about Heath Ledger though, I liked.

    Roflmao This man is hilarious. Get a sense of humour people. My God. The famine is long over. If nothing else it's good to laugh about hard times or all we would do is cry and gnash our teeth over every wrong ever done to us. The Irish are tough. The Scots are tough. Billy Connolly would love this.

    About time Irish people got over the famine. Nobody who lived then would still be alive now anyway, so why are people who are alive today upset about it. Get on with your life - no point in crying on about something that happened 150 years ago

      Like telling black people to get over slavery. If we forget it will just happen again.

    • @martinaogorman646
      @martinaogorman646 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      It was a serious loss, and we lost half our population. It’s hard to forget about something as big as that when we haven’t even recovered our population yet!

    Jesus, its not exactly topical is it? Let it go sir... If you're still upset about the Irish Famine in 2012, it might be time to invest in a newspaper and find some current shittiness to rail against.
