Really appreciate you standing up to that jerk. There is a ton of entitlement and nastiness in this hobby as with many activities, but a lot of people are fully unwilling to acknowledge it because there’s also good things about it. Glad to have had the opportunity to get a perspective that wasn’t, as you highlight, assigned to a community or a person without their input.
I don't think disc golf is any different from soccer in a park. Nobody says anything when 22 guys crash around shouting, booting a heavy ball around, ripping up the grass with their boots. What I do know is that I have found disc golf to be inclusive and accessible. 3 discs to play a round can be picked up for $20 or even less on a second hand purchase. Most can afford this. The local amateur clubs I have some involvement with always welcome all comers and offer the new players the use of discs and baskets for free. I see racism in all walks of life and it is dreadful, but don't see disc golf being singled out as very fair at all. It is a world away from ball golf where it costs double that and often much more for green fees for 1 round, that's without buying clubs, balls, bags. I only heard that 1 guy on the video disrespecting the picnic ladies...his type is the exception in disc golf in my experience. Not saying disc golf is immune from racists playing it, but there are quite a number of black/Asian pro disc golfers and amateurs too. Philo Brathwaite/Ohn Scoggins, Paul Mcbeth are just a few examples of these people ,great players and ambassadors for the game too.❤
Here's a take from a non-American. At our biggest airport, our customs officers and police officers direct foot traffic all the time. When someone's confused you will hear them say "oh, come this way please maam/sir/etc". On my first visit to the US, It took me a wee while to get used to being 'told' to go somewhere. "You will go down this lane, Sir" - not "come down this lane please, Sir". I do not think the officers in the US were being unduly rude, but it is a very direct way to address someone that does feel somewhat confrontational. I think this whole argument is far less about race and more about the general culture of all manner of people, where some are just rude to one another.
Thank you for sharing that angle on being told to go somewhere. That's a pretty important aspect that most people don't see. But race is very much involved in this culture. These people used to own us. And our descendants. We still carry their names as our own. They also used to eat us. Probably because we were also seen as animals to them, so I think it's a bit more to the culture than just being rude.
Great commentary. I started playing a little over a year ago, I was kinda surprised to see how much of the fan base and players tend to be super conservative/fundamentalist religious. Subscribed
It's tough finding out that someone whose game you admire has such a different worldview than you do. McBeth going to Liberty was an immediate No for me. I feel like a lot of small fundamentalist churches install courses and use dg as outreach. Then raise up their little Ezras, Isaacs and other biblically-named kids to excel and spread the word. I just did a quick google and read Isaac Robinson talking about how lonely he was on tour and how the christian community helped him. Ironic, because I think the openly atheist pro would face a much harder time. That's who I want to support.
I didnt understand your opinion on the park between the criticism and grandstanding..... If your opinion matters more than the white guys , you should articulate it better because im not sure what it even is.
“I didn’t understand…” is a you problem. And I have zero responsibility in helping you with that. I’m speaking to the people who can understand. You obviously are not trying to understand and are more interested in making the content creator look a certain way, so why would anybody concern themselves with that kind of nonsense? Either kick rocks or rephrase your question (if you actually have one), along with an apology for being a whiny b1txh.
I am genuinely saddened to hear a young man describe the world in the manner that you have in this video. I pray that you will one day become blind and deaf to the evil that has maliciously indoctrinated you into living and thinking in this way. Please don't take me as condescending. I sincerely hope you can feel better as soon as possible. There are people you'll never meet that love you. Think about that. Peace be upon you.
As a white dude who's been playing disc golf since the "pot smoking, grateful dead lovin', hippies-only" days (pre-Y2K), and a life-long progressive, atheist, and activist against racism, bigotry, and an LGBT+ ally, an anti-hate person in general... I really don't know what to think about all this shit. I'm just gonna keep chuckin' discs. After this last election, I'm just crawling into a hole and ignoring everything. I'm done with activism, we lost. The racists, bigots and fascists have won. I fucking give up and will live the rest of my days the best I can, it's hard to help when it feels like the world works against me.
Activism is a joke anyway, like protesting or voting, the only difference between candidates is purely superficial aesthetics. ..the pandering is nauseating by the way.

Thank you for being a real man and standing up for the ladies enjoying the park.
I heard nothing you just said. I was just lost in watching Paul throw some sweet lines at Krokhol

Thank you. I've noticed that as well. Kinda pushy about it too, at least in the social media circles.

Coming from a white man, you’re 100% right man. It doesn’t affect me in the same way obviously, but it still drives me nuts.

Thank you for proving many of the points within this video.
