This video is great with all of the design suggestions. The back of the house with the new changes to the openings and barrel tile roof are magnificent !
Hi Brent, great video! I take it that when you change out the sliding patio doors you will put in three sets of wood arch-topped outswing doors with a solid panel on the bottom. You also suggest adding a second arched opening on that long blank interior wall that will be “filled in” (possibly with drywall) to balance out the opening to the front hall. Why not put fake doors that match the patio doors in the “filled in” area but instead of them having individual glass panels you use mirrors?
Great. I'd not put in the architrave, but go right to the eave. The arches need more meat at the peak before any horizontal above. It would not work if it were an actual stone arch.
@Brent, This is the design of my house in Miami. I have been trying to figure out what architectural elements to start adding. Now that i see this I can use my cnc machines to design my mouldings and built ins. thank i you so much for what you teach and do. Do you have any information or videos on the architectural elements to make my interior sympathetic to the exterior design?
@BrentHull what is the difference between Med. revival and Spanish Colonial revival? Do the follow the same trim and design rules pretty much? I see very few differences
My wife wants me to put in these “built ins” that she saw on Instagram. They are Ikea and cheapen everything around it.. She even bought the stuff. I'm crying. I've been putting it off for a year now basically refusing to do it. She can’t get a contractor to do it and has now convinced her IT guy to help me. My insides are wrenching.
Can't wait for next week's follow up with the homeowner!
Coming soon.

Nice. Thanks.
Love the proposed changes. Brent is so innovative and creative.
Thanks so much!
The difference that a few minor changes can make. Turns it into a whole new space that's much more pleasant to exist in :)
Thanks, I agree.
Great video and looking forward to seeing the reactions next week!
Us too!
Next week's video I'm really looking forward to.
More to come. Thx.
Sounds like it will be a very cool little series.
Thanks so much!
Very neat to include the molding profiles. Eager to see the reception video next too
Coming soon!
I will look forward to next week.
THanks.

Good idea, she nixed the faux arch idea, she wants to use her wallpaper. FYI

OK. Thanks.

Ok good. Rexford Newcomb's book on this style is really good.
@ thank you very much. I will email you some starting pictures and wrapping up.

Oh boy, well, if you wrap them in good trim, or build them out properly they may look better. Good luck.
