What a lovey man always so nice when you came into his place lovely food as well & cheap food Jesus you couldn’t beat it I wonder is he still alive if so I hope your well mat thanks for the memories 👍
Now that place is a blast from the past. I remember we used to go in there every Friday when I was a kid in the 80's after my mam did her big weekly shop in Dunnes, which used to be directly across from it, and then get the number 2 bus back to Mahon eating them, the bus must have stunk of chips. 😆
I remember my first time going there back in the late 90's. I asked him for curry on my chips and he replied "we dont have any of that foreign shit"😂 so i said ketchup will do thanks. Went there many time after that. Great chipper.
was in there once as a little lad and a homeless man came in and asked for 50 cent worth of chips matty served him something to fill his belly maybe a sausage that was surplus not 100% but he gave the man something of that i am sure thought me a good lesson that day
great point he didn't move with the times limited menu did as little as to the building its not like chippers fell outa fashion just well if you invest nothing you get nothing
To answer your question, he retired. Mattie was a gentleman. Never discriminated between social classes. Served everyone the same whether they were rich or poor, prince or pauper. Was a genuinely decent human being. Had great food. Miss Mattie and his co worker. Best wishes to them. ☘️🌝🌲
