    I love red tails and rainbows. Beautiful little guys amazing at getting at the food that wasn't fed on by the other fish and good at keeping algae at bay.

    Thanks. I live in Thailand now and there are loads in the shops for sale. Tropical fish keeping is very popular in Thailand but I never thought it was.

    Thanks for the video it was nice looking at the different "sharks". They are not the fish I would eve think about that is why it is good to see them on TH-cam.

      Most of them aren't even very good for the majority of fish tanks but are sold quite freely

    I have never seen A Rainbow Shark that wasn't on A-Hole mode all the time. I have had Red Tails that were fine in a community setting. I have also had one Black Shark if you haven't seen one just think of a Red Tail that's all back. The Black Sharks was rather Shy and hid a lot. This could have been a rare subject and might be as aggressive as the Red Tail, but I got lucky.
    The Albino Rainbows have always seemed to be the less moody of the group at least in my tanks over the years.

    Thanks for the video. All of these fish are beautiful. I have kept all of them for decades, other than the Iridescent Shark. The Bala Sharks should not be sold as they grow too big, as you rightly say. The other Sharks are very territorial, and can cause issues in community aquariums. The Iridescent Sharks should never be sold. That's simply cruel, for an animal that grows to over 4 feet. Thanks for sharing.

    I need to start doing time lapses of my "glowfish" rainbow sharks. They were sold to me in a pair for a reason. I took weeks setting up my tanks so I was originally planning to put them into individual 50 gallon tanks . Turns out they ended up in my aquaponics tank. Surrounded by highly algae filled water and shrimp they refuse to seperate. As in they are very territorial have separate sides of the system. Occasionally chase but no when I tried to buy one the other became stressed out and I ended up putting them into a tank together with a fence made from plastic knitting canvas. For 3 weeks they watched eachother from across their fences then finally one jumped into the other side

    I got told by a store employee I could only have sharks together. So I got two rainbows and a red tailed. And even at a young age I see lots of aggression and working on a solution currently

    I have 2 rainbow sharks in my 60 gal tank and they keep to their respective areas. I also have a bala shark, 2 catfish, 2 plecos and a handful of dwarf gourami. From time to time I’ll catch the rainbow sharks going at it but tbh it’s mostly the dwarf gourami who can’t seem to stop fighting. Sometimes it works.. just a matter of luck. Also, I agree that the people who sell these fish need to inform buyers! I was NOT told that I couldn’t keep 2 rainbows. I just lucked out.

    I have a 1000 gallon outdoor pond full of goldfish and I want to put some bala shark in there to control the goldfish population. The pond is a little muddy and it freezes over in the winter time. Will the bala shark be okay?
    I don't feed the Goldfish anything. They just live off the pond. I would not feed the Bala either. They would have to live off the goldfish.
    Do you think this is a workable plan or should I consider some other fish ?

    • @noname18305

    • @tsafa
      @tsafa 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @noname18305 I have a few videos on my channel. Just look up my channel name and goldfish and you should see the videos.
      The pond is frozen over now, so I don't know if the bala shark will be able survive through the winter like the goldfish. I'm definitely going to put some koi in there. They should eat the smaller goldfish too.
      The Goldfish are in the almost 10 months already. I don't feed them. They survive off of the insects. It is a self-sustaining environment.

    Hi, Completely off topic but can you help me out ? Every time i clean my Fluval external canister filter now and plug it back in brown muck comes out of the outtake pipe. Really frustrating as i've just changed the water. Any tips without removing the pipes ? Thanks

    • @EverydayAquarist
      @EverydayAquarist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's normal for this to happen on any external filter. Fluval ribbed pipes don't get dirty which is why they are ribbed as it stops dirt buildup, that's a secret design feature not a lot of people know. The dirt is coming from the sponges you just cleaned

    • @no-knickers-emma1112
      @no-knickers-emma1112 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok thanks for the reply. I will clean the sponges more often i think. I was doing a forthrightly water change without issues in my main tank. Sponges are really filthy though

    • @darthdoggie0031
      @darthdoggie0031 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, probably a betta usually grows to 3 or 4 inches a Bala shark can grow to a foot long. The bigger the Bala gets the bigger the chance is of that betta randomly disappearing. But you might be lucky, different fish have different personalities so your bala might not eat it.

    Hello friends, In this video I'm discussing some of the freshwater "Sharks" that are available from LFS. Not all of them are actually very suitable for a home aquarium. What do you think of the fish that I have discussed?
    Thanks for watching and if you liked the video please leave a like and a comment as it really helps my channel grow. Thanks and happy fish keeping!
