However, I think the reason why BAND-MAID has been able to continue without changing members since its formation is because of Kanami's excellent sense of balance. If she had exercised the strong desire for self-expression that many guitar players have, the band's sound would have been completely different. I think she is a very clever guitar player who makes herself shine by bringing out the abilities of others, and furthermore, elevates the band itself to greater heights. That's why I think this live video is full of joy and energy, and symbolizes everything about BAND-MAID, where all members shine equally.
The common criticism of the Shibuya show was that the mixing was wonky, so you're not alone there. Thst being saud, the dynamic performance of the song blows the studio version out of the water.
As a good rocker, I always appreciate live versions more. Playing an instrument without any pressure and in a very comfortable environment is easier. True talent is evident live.
Same here, but there are exceptions * Sometimes the musicians cannot really shine live but make fantastic studio music. * Sometimes there is only fan cam movies from live and they suck. * Sometimes half of the fun is the music videos. * Some instrumentals are best made studio live. You can get perfect mix and you see them playing.

The Maidiacs really help the energy level live so we, they, get some credit yes? You are so correct a lot of the older recordings are just as you say, the guitars are buried- luckily the engineers listened and newer stuff is fixed.
It may not be the best guitar sound and level in the mix, but the overall performance is the best of the 3 versions you watched. For awhile this live MV was the go to intro to the Maids live, now it's Hate?. So, I took a moment to listen to my Blu-ray version of this song, to see if there was a difference in levels to the YT video. The guitars are a little bit more pronounced, kinda hard to tell in some sections. The song "Play", that proceeded "Domination", the guitars sound much better. Maybe that could be your next reaction, it has a fun intro to it, then the last sustained note goes straight into Domination. It could have been a better mix overall, at least guitar wise. Just watching the end of this concert still gives me the feels, the crowd got loud when the back screen showed their date for the Maids show at the famous Budokan but was unfortunately cancelled because of pandemic. I'm still hoping that they will play there someday.
"The Best" is very subjective, I never listen to anyone that say something is "The Best", that's like say saying some is the greatest guitarist EVER, when EVER isn't over yet. You nailed it, from my understanding this recording was mixed thru the speakers and not the board. I have this DVD show and some songs are better with regard to the guitars. I know exactly what you mean, the recommendation for this song you received were NOT from musicians, IMHO. This version does bring the energy but the official music video brings the sound, unfortunately not this LIVE extended version. Akane's kick drum really shines in the music video.
