Point to be added at your 11:10 conversation, the ratings at 64kmph during star rating hits a static object so the impact would be 64kmph.
Here the oncoming vehicle would have been in 60. So as per physics the impact would not be the 100 kmph of the car alone, the opposite 60 added to this 100 which will result in accident crash that is equivalent to 160kmph.

It's an interesting and useful discussion. Must watch for every road user.
In India unfortunately we have been seeing certain bad practices which are never condemned... but at the same time it has been forced as a norm. One serious issue frustrating the car users along the highway is the Heavy vehicles such as Buses and Trucks hogging the fast lanes. In any other country it is an offence but in India we are expected to weave around to overtake them on most occasions. This usually triggers the car users especially during the long drives. Enforcement of traffic norms is totally missing in many areas.
Government agencies and concerned parties should come together and educate the road users on road ethics in a big way.

      Dear Sirs,
      A few points:
      1. At your age, you folks are wise beyond your years. So heartening, specially for seniors! I always remember a quote
      " If only youth knew!
      If only age could!".
      But you seem to know!
      2. I think certainly you should reduce this to 15 minutes. In this fast age, only retired people like me will have ears for such long talk on such a important, but dry matter as safety. (Don't mistake me, I was in safely too, and I experienced it first hand :-))
      3. How do I send you a private message? I want to write a detailed mail.
      Great job!
Can you translate to Hindi?(after shortening). You will reach lots more and this country certainly needs it!
I don't know Tamil to such an extent that I could translate it effectively. I was brought up in a different state.
      Best wishes!
      Regarding the next topic:
Would greatly appreciate you doing one on pedestrians - they seem to keep left, even when they don't follow it while riding their vehicles!
If they keep to right, it would greatly reduce the tension for both pedestrians and the drivers. Somewhere in school, it was left out that keep to left was for vehicles and for pedestrians, it should be opposite!

Motowagon team - one suggestion for your videos apart from drive with seatbelt - “inform everyone to have a good quality dashcam, which would help in many road rage cases which is the case in many foreign countries.. this helps both sides i.e. if others hit, just capture the video and claim insurance or other way, they will drive safe as everything is getting recorded”..

      Dear MW,
I do not accept a dashcam can save you.Recently i met with an accident in national highway , when i am crossing barricades around 80 to 60 kmh a two wheeler (triples without helmet fully drunken)crossed from left side of my driving path to median suddenly turned opposite to my direction near median (with out watching me and turned in opposite direction)and came back to my left and by horn of mine stopped exactly opposite to my car. What you will do?.I did all my breaking but the collision is unavoidable.I have dashcam but what is the use?.FIR always against the big vehicle.None of them interested to listen. In past 3 months our family trying to come out of the accident.Who cares in India when mistake is not yours and have a proof!.Our NH are not suitable to drive over 60 kmh. Then why you need NH?.
To MW ,at the time of accident i was in a shock and need a guidance.I did not know what to do.Many of them simply blaming me and surrounded my family. Please make video on what to do after accident and legally what to do after accident?.How we have to face the consequences.
Also i have an experience of cow jumping from the median. But my F1 led blinking lights saved me.Human can not recognise colour changes for 10 seconds. If you have halogen danger lights and blinking led it may save you.If possible do research on it.

Sir first of all thank you for picking this topic. Even I saw your road rage video and also commented on it .
My view is bus driver is driver by profession, it could have just ended as a road rage if he would have stopped.
Rather he dint even bother to stop or apply breaks.
Doctor sir should have taken a video in dash cam or even noted number of the bus and made it viral or filed a complaint.
But bus driver should be investigated.
This is from heart since I have been into this lose and even lost a family member 10 years back.
People should be responsible and take every situation in road serious.
    My condolences to his family.
Please we all have to be responsible.
    Edited :
One more point these crash test is basically done for checking the metal deformation and strain energy absorption.
Point here is safety rating is for sense of feel we should not take advantage .

Good content. Please talk about pedestrians crossing the highway thinking that cars will not reach them quickly. But when car drivers see someone suddenly trying to cross the highway when they are driving at 100kmph it makes the driver nervous. The driver might lose control too. Especially in night.
Pedestrians many times misjudge the car speed.

    • @arunsr6856

Also the 2 wheelers not everyone they use the right lane of the road which makes the drivers go bonkers while riding at high speeds they usually cruise at 40 and dont even move an inch when hnked also the pedestrians think that car will brake if it comes near them and cross the carelessly an law has been enforced that if a car hits a pedestrian in a highway and eventually if the guy dies case will not be filed unless and until if the pedestrian has not used the zebra crossing also these people use plants on the highway as cattle feed which is a huge hindrance

Hi Asir sir. I think we need to spend more time around discussing over steer and understeer with our audience and help them understand how to use steering well (this point you are mentioning in your SWOT analysis on steering calibration). Here, the highway is leaning towards left, and the car had exited the right lane further towards the opposite side. Most likely the car went through a considerable degree of "understeer" and had skipped the left leaning altogether sending the car out of control from the right most lane. My prayers will always be there for the family 🙏.

Had a trip after watching this video and every time there was an emotional trigger in the road, this podcast came to my mind repeatedly. You have covered this topic in good detail and is one of the most underlooked aspects. We have to remember that the person who wrongs us on the road will be out of our mind within next ten minutes but our family stays life long. It actually helps to take a tea break or bathroom break after a trigger so that we calm down and the other vehicle is well out of reach.

  • @SivakumarS

Road rage usually is a contagious thing. I have experienced and felt like it often. Oftentimes, a random person creates a situation that offends/triggers another person (eg: Cutting their vehicle, etc...)
Now the rage is created and the person with rage is the source to create the next rage to another driver wherever they drive. Hence contiguous. We have to control ourselves not to get influenced by the rage.

A brilliant discussion. This should reach all indians. The indian mindset is the core reason for many a thing we see/come across on a daily basis. Like avoidable accidents, one should make sure one's own car is driven safely and also that one should ensure no one else's property is in danger because of one's actions. Then the a
Psuedo security, its true, everyone sees the star rating when it comes to safety. But no one realises a crash test is done in a controlled environment. A few years ago a well built german car was split into 2 when it hit a tree. Once again a very sensible discussion, this one. Hope to see many more. Speed and Inertia plays a major role in Under-steer Over-steer. My point is Doc lost his temperament, the car went behind the bus much closer. There will be a 'slipstream' (due to vacuum) where the car's speed will be more and less controllable. At that moment he would have tried to streer apart to overtake the bus. Due to that speed and inertia on that curve he would have tried to understeer at the wrong time. That's the point he lost control. Very well analysed and explained sir. Appreciate your work.

If your car or bike has been scratched, cut off, blocked etc, not only is the driver feeling aggression but he's ( not using she because most drivers are men in India and women don't seem to be involved in much road rage even proportionally) also feeling helpless and indignant because he KNOWS that if he simply complains, absolutely nothing will happen and there is no consequence to the vehicle/driver who triggered the incident.
I think if the authorities start consistently taking action on smaller complaints like lane changes without signals, people driving on wrong side, road bullies, fast lane blockers etc., people who feel wronged on the road will start feeling calmer knowing that they don't have to take it on themselves to confront offenders and they can complain and it will be taken care of fairly. Of course this will not help those aggressive bullies who fly into road rage because they feel entitled to drive how they want.

To calculate the speed of the collision we should add the speed of the car and and the bus. like 120 +60=180 km/ht.

Thank you Moto Wagen for discussing this scenario. Dr Karthikeyan was my close friend we miss him. If possible make some more discussion on how to train bus drivers and heavy vehicle trainers, for I have experienced in my own life a bus driver made a mistake and happily roaming without any guilt. Tamilnadu transport department also doesn't take any actions on the particular driver.

    Just FYI.
Regarding the woman giving birth in a Tesla. She wasn't alone. Her husband was driving and he enabled AutoPilot to help his wife.
And while in AutoPilot, for every few seconds the driver needs to touch the steering to tell the car that the driver is attentive. If the driver fails to do so, then the car will come to a stop gradually.
Good content. Kudos to the team.

i have been a highway user for at least 15 years ,
I am really concerned to see a lot of ppl teaching themselves to drive through google and youtube.
    And I see
    1. people chasing with full family,
    2. chasing with old people,
    3. chasing with children in the back without seat belts
chasing fast-moving cars just for fun
I see ppl in these cars laughing and giggling while passing, all I can do is slow down and let them pass when I see children or very old ppl in them .
As u said teaching road manners in primary school was 👌an awesome idea , I have always thought about it if I wear to start a small primary school .

Just like u, yesterday I parked my car in a restaurant open parking. There was a tempo traveller transversely parked in front when I left my car. When I come back, tempo left and i was about to go reverse. Just to steer back right, I move fwded to left. One big crackling sound. My left tyre stepped over a sump inlet pipe( protruding out for 0.5 - 0.75 feet above the ground level). When tempo was there, tht pipe was under its body. So what I learnt is before u get into the car just check ur surrounding and then move. Fortunately no big damage just bumper mud flap mounting btns broke.. just replaced btn in 30rs .. luv u MW..

Actually, Tesla cars handles all controls of driving when switched on autopilot till the destination is reached, all it requires is driver's attention after some seconds(asks driver to touch the steering wheels after some seconds ,so that it understands that the driver is attentive.)That's the point one of the bro tried to mention.
Autopilot with enhancements and better accuracy levels are in testing by tesla, and will be soon brought to their cars.

My Experience in Highway driving, Always Respect the Drivers who are Professional i.e Goverment Bus Driver, Truck Drivers. Accept that they are the Kings as they spend thier most of life behind the wheels. Your are just a guest entering the Highway. In aviation Sector the Pilots experience is measured in flying hours. Hence decide who is the more experienced one in the highways behind the wheels.
1.Remove your leg from the Accelator when you see junction in highways.
    2. Respect the Auto Drivers, Goverment bus driver, Truck drivers, TATA Ace, Mahindra Pick Up.
    3. Truck driver are always on their lane ask permission for overtaking with a short sweet horn.
    4. Don't test the trucks breaks by bumping in front of them
    5. Use Horn in the minimum use as sweet horn (just a ligt push -short one).
    6. If some one is honking from behind give him way he may in emergency/hurry.
7.Give Right of way to the pedestrians.
    8. Respect here means remove your leg from Accelator and ready to break.
    9. Use Dashcam for your safety.
    10. Test your cars speed on the empty strech highways and record your manliness.

Thank you Motowagon for this great healthy discussion video. Each and every point discussed here are so important to all drivers to keep in mind while driving. You mentioned about passengers itself triggering the road rage by making fun of the driver, is more crucial imo. I just want to contradict in the point about cruise control(cc). Because using cc will facilitate to drive in a constant speed which in turn gives more control over the vehicle. Moreover cc helps to ignore external triggering factors as you mentioned in alto example. Since you are driving in a planned controlled speed in cc it shifts the driver more towards driving discipline. This is only my view, which comes out of my extensive cc driving kms( I own 2 cars, one completed almost 2 lakh kms and the other is nearing 50k kms and out of these 2.5 lakh kms i'm damn sure atleast 1.5 lakh kms was driven in cc). Thanks again.

Greta discussion bro, really useful suggestion for our MW family but I have one doubt for build quality of the car. you said 5 or 4 star rating is also impact major accidents in high speed then what is the use of strong build quality. it could be less damage while driving in low speed not high speed ? for example most of the people buying Maruthi and Hyundai cars and build quality is not good.

    • @motowagon
