She did a lot of parallel cinema with Shabana Azmi, Smita patil and the likes in her day. I wont say, she did not get roles. Also, it is just sad this generation remembers hers as a Khichdi character, that does not even light a candle to her acting prowess.
Who wouldn't notice her in this movie!! For someone who's watching her for the first time I was like 'And who's this brilliant actress? How come that I see her for the first time when she is very very talented?'

Bollywood is full of epic actresses that are not given their due. While the male actors even above average are turned into legends. As you said, Supriya Pathak is not considered a legend by the general audience but she is!
What are you talking about sarah, yesteryear Female actresses like Madhu Bala, Rekha, Hema Malini, Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Smita Patil and many more actresses have been the mainstay of indian cinema for so many decades, these great women are household names and even today everybody recognises these actresses and they have given ground breaking performances in many movies and people still remember them for these roles. Even Hollywood Actresses like the legendary Marilyn Monroe, Katherine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, Ingrid Burgman and Greta Garbo have given amazing performances in movies, and people still remember them.

@@navinbabji Lootera is more like accquired taste, not everyone loves it but a lot of people do, that was the movie that made me realize Sonakshi Sinha is not just a pretty face but can act as well. So I would recommend it too. Good list especially Sadma and Omkara, I would personally add Ankhon Dekhi to the list.

This was deepikas breakout film in terms of acting....the depth, “emotional availability” as you call, vulnerability on screen, the realness is most apparent in this film and Ranveer n deepikas chemistry was sizzling which was a great surprise! Supriya Pathak has theater background....so brilliance basically!!!

I think the ending became sacrificial instead of unnecessary deaths. In the minds of Ram and Leela, they thought that their deaths would end the animosity with the two families.

i feel the same way about ranveer too....i love him when he is on the screen and i love what he does.....BUT in real life his antics are sometimes too much....he is very very unexpected and wild and sometimes his flambuoyancy in inability to be serious sometimes puts me off....and i think many people feel the same way...and obviously thats not his fault, its ours to put him in a box like that...it still needs some work but i do wish sometimes he act serious in real life too
I'm really surprised you sat through this nightmare till the very end. We almost had a walk out when we 'tried' to watch it. Supriya Pathak is a great actress btw. Very underrated, just like several others ( likes of KK Menon, Vijay Raj, Pavan Malhotra, n Zakir Hussain ).
Supriya pathak is one of India's sweetheart actors back in the day....she was a lovable goofball as Hansa Bhabhi in early 2000s comedy series Khichdi....and she is beloved among indian audiences for that...and she is a damn good actor and she always delivers whether playing a lovable mother or a gangster.....

i feel the same way about ranveer too....i love him when he is on the screen and i love what he does.....BUT in real life his antics are sometimes too much....he is very very unexpected and wild and sometimes his flambuoyancy in inability to be serious sometimes puts me off....and i think many people feel the same way...and obviously thats not his fault, its ours to put him in a box like that...it still needs some work but i do wish sometimes he act serious in real life too

Supriya pathak is one of India's sweetheart actors back in the day....she was a lovable goofball as Hansa Bhabhi in early 2000s comedy series Khichdi....and she is beloved among indian audiences for that...and she is a damn good actor and she always delivers whether playing a lovable mother or a gangster.....
