Most Amtrak sleeping car attendants are good, and I give them a generous tip. Once in a while, I have one who is exceptional, and I tip those attendants a bit more. I've taken about 20 long Amtrak trips, and I have only had one who was not too good (I think that she was too young). I agree that the rear view of the tracks is mesmerizing.
I remember when planning that intermodal facility at Santa Teresa it was originally planned for building and the UP bought the land for it just west of Picacho Peak west of Tucson.
You should have shown the inside of the Tucson train station. I took this train from Tucson to Pittsburgh. That was an interesting trip. One journey I sat in the seats and the next one I got a Roomette. Staff was extremely nice. We had a lot of unexpected stops due to the train not working. The observation car was very nice. Meals were very good.
I'm a little shy about filming people. In a crowd, I don't mind as much, but smaller settings, I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. I'll have to film inside the station at a time when few people are there.
Now that I am in my middle 70s I wish that the Highways would go away and be replaced by dedicated Amtrak tracks. That second story at the Tucson depot was my bosses office. That big window you could see the Catalina mountains in all their glory. Got to retire from the UP after 42 years service at 60. Love retirement.
It was interesting to see the stairwells on the platform that, presumably, went under the tracks and over to the depot building. I have seen old photos of at least two more tracks and another platform between the current tracks and the station depot. The history of the routing of the tracks is very interesting to me.
Not for this video. All the music in this video is canned music provided by my video-editor. However, I did play the piano background music for my Solar Eclipse video, as I wanted to have the old Duran Duran song "New Moon on Monday" as kind of the "theme song" for this trip. So I played it myself, though highly adapted so the copyright bots would not even recognize the song ;)
At least one of the traffickers was armed, which is also against the law. He was also willing to USE that firearm onboard the train, endangering the lives of all those on board.
I live in Tucson and travel by Amtrak to San Antonio. Interesting show case of the the desolate desert scenery between Tucson and San Antonio.
I enjoy your Video, especially the rear view of the tracks
for real, I enjoy his attention to detail👍
Thanks 👍

😂indeed, it's usually the really young, inexperienced
You would make the perfect travel companion

I wonder if the railroad still owns the land.
@@carytodd7211 No they sold it so Marana could expand. Now houses.

The Capitol 10,000 race was going on that day in Austin.
I was wondering about that when we passed above the runners. A friend knows someone who participated in the race, so he told me what it was.

@@carytodd7211 If I remember right in the late 70s they closed the underground stairs because at night there was a lot of drugs sold there.
Just imagine if we had high speed public railways like japan, people would prefer a 12 hour drive to a 5 hour train ride everytime
Do you play your own backround music? I like the bathroom sign saying enjoy the journey.

@@carytodd7211 wonderful
Wish you could have shown the gorgeous historic murals inside the station!
Which station are you referring to? I did not notice any inside the El Paso Union Depot; perhaps I missed them.
Two people died over some weed.

@@carytodd7211 you don't know a damn thing about what happened. You are just looking through your biased lens.
Yes, I am biased. I am biased in favor of NOT having armed drug runners aboard public transportation.
I know, I'm a little out-of-touch.
@@carytodd7211 you're definitely a smaller picture kind of person. You made your point. Troll somewhere else.
@@carytodd7211 you must be talking about the cops because that's the biggest Mafia and drug cartel.
Should have cut the film's audio in Tucson and just talked over it. The leaf blower is annoying
Veggie burger, how depressing.
It was quite good.
Not impressed with the dirty windows. Amtrak needs to do a better job at cleaning them!
Yes, I wish the windows were cleaner. But it was still a good trip.
