The first 128k tune I heard that really impressed me, and on the whole I don't think it's been bettered. It was co-written with Rob Hubbard apparently.
@LoLzZ85 I love this tune, its one of my favourite Spectrum tunes ever. I think Rob Hubbard is credited for the original version (C64) rather than co-writing the Speccy version. I initially thought he did co-write it and I even mentioned it on a podcast I done last year but I was then informed he didn't. Bet you someone comments and says he did =)
The tune is accreddited to Ben and Rob together. I don't think Rob had a contract with Gremlin Graphics. Rob visited the studio for 2 days and worked on both the title together with dalglish, but also did in-game tunesfor the game. Rob isn't credited for coding the ZX music, but the music is definitely co-written by Ben and Rob.
Not bad. My favourite Ben Daglish tunes are as follows… • Terramex (my favourite) • Switchblade - Ingame (2nd favourite) • Switchblade - Title screen • Dark Fusion • Super Scramble Simulator (Title + Game Over) • Butcher Hill - The River :) :) :) :) :)
I believe it's made that way. I was iffy about it at first but I downloaded the ROM and listened to it and it played the same way. But if anyone disagrees, please feel free to shoot the messenger.
OK. I'm just back from listening to the MSX version...... Sorry, but it's not the same as this one. To my tired 'ol 40 year old ears at least. Spec128k still best. I used to load this game just for the music. As I did for Glider Rider 128k, Agent X, Agent X II (both Spectrum 48k - 5 channel sound though!), the Trantor - the last Stormtrooper theme, and the Rescue 48k theme. Best experienced when drunk, as I oft am on here :) Plus Starglider 128k, Carrier Command 128k etc etc etc....lol.
@TheChestnutBowl So do I although mine is a biased opinion I must admit lol =) Yeah this is absolutely superb, one of the very best tunes to grace the Speccy!
@TheChestnutBowl I think this tune sounds amazing in every single platform out there... but IMHO the MSX version was the best one, it has a stronger bassline like the speccy, but the drums sound MUCH, MUCH better...
@paranoidpfanclub It's really nice but I was hopeless at it, never got anywhere with it at all. I still like the game though, this tune being the main reason why!
Maybe not for a rap beat, but it might be something Kitsune^2 would have fun with. As far as I'm aware, they're a yank, though, and I don't think Monty was really a thing in the states because they all played Nintendo.
Composition and programming are both excellent. This was the soundtrack of my early teens.
Same. Glad it's not just me!
This was one of my favourites too. This, Glider Rider and Hydrofool.
Thanks, Vinny.
I love this music, easily one of the best made for the Spectrum.
I love the title screen when Monty starts break dancing when the music bumps up. lol
Never gets old even after all these years
RIP Ben Daglish.
Ah that brings memories back :P the music blew me away when it was released for the 128k lol

this brings back good memory..... oh man what have i played this game for hours and hours on rainy cold days
I used to load this game up just to listen to the music

Ca faisait des années que je le cherchais. Merciiiii !!!!!!
@NonicekCz I couldn't agree more! Ben Daglish was an amazing composer who gave us many a great tune and this is undoubtably one of his finest works!
Yes though rob hubbard composed this one cheers
@@kemikemi756 they wrote this music together on the C64
So good I often play it out on the keyboard, especially the 1st bit.
Back again after a year. Still loving it :D
+CartoonsKick Back again. Still awesome. Happy 2016 everyone!
That's indeed how I remember it, and it sounds GREAT!
Una composición cojonuda, siempre que me pillo una taja me la pongo y se me ponen los pelos de punta
I think it translates: "This is what I have been searching for years. Thank you!"
I wonder who really did it: Ben Daglish or Rob Hubbard. They both worked on the music of Auf Wiedersehen Monty.
I love the sound!

This Music used to scare the crap out of me, when i was younger, but now it's just awesome!
Ah thanks for the translation!
One of the best by Ben Daglish
sometimes i just loaded the game to hear the music..... great music for this great game!
Which was better the SID chip or the speccy AY chip? This sounds far less noisy than the c64 version and i much prefer it
OK. I'm just back from listening to the MSX version......

CartoonsKick agreed
So many crazy people thinking the c64 was better! 128k all the way
30 years ago I played this.....ghouls n ghosts was the best soundtrack followed by wec lè mans
@jimmeno Yeah this is magnificent, just a brilliant tune, one of my favourite Spectrum tunes ever.
@TheChestnutBowl So do I although mine is a biased opinion I must admit lol =) Yeah this is absolutely superb, one of the very best tunes to grace the Speccy!

@alanlovedog It sounds unique for defs! One of my favourites, never had the game originally but the first time I heard this I was blown away!
surely the spectrum 128k wasn't stereo ?
The chip certainly was! Same chip in the Amstrad, MSX, and Atari ST.
I have no idea what you just said, but I like the sound of it :)
@MentengElites Oh yeah memories indeed! I was never good at this game but hearing this was more than enough for me =)
I prefer this version over the C64's version. The bassline has more of a presence here; it's my favorite part of the song.
that's probably more becuase here the bass and melody are played by the same instrument and thus the whole tune gets overpowered by the bass
@philipsuper I'm like that for a number of games myself =) I love this tune, one of my personal favourites.
А что тут думать?! Это же "Монти" :)
@paranoidpfanclub It's really nice but I was hopeless at it, never got anywhere with it at all. I still like the game though, this tune being the main reason why!
Why is that copper's umbrella spunking on the wing?
Is that copper chucking his muck at Monty's plane?
Maybe he wants to gum up the propellors :)
@loudenvier Oooh must check that out!
the stereo is more painful than in bubsy in fractured furry tales. at least both soundtracks are amazing.
similar to the MSX version.
GREAT.
Yeah, I thought this would sound identical to the MSX version... but it doesn't. The MSX version sounds better.
a bobby firing a gun?
Calvin Harris should have a listen to this then he might actually produce something decent
@Outlander999: THE BEST =D
It sounds so...flat compared to the C64 version. But, hey. To each his or her own.
Somebody please sample this and make it into a banger rap beat
Maybe not for a rap beat, but it might be something Kitsune^2 would have fun with. As far as I'm aware, they're a yank, though, and I don't think Monty was really a thing in the states because they all played Nintendo.
