Don't understand why Le Batard links himself with Samson. The guy has been a central figure in two horribly run Baseball franchises that scammed partners and cities. Has Dan ever taken him to task over the Stadium debacle?
He has, numerous times, and its alwaya brutal.

Samson is a smug asshole. The show needs him. It needs a villain. As an retiree from Wall Street, have the stuff he says is exaggerated. I wish someone would call him out from the show.

Samson’s entire stance is that no one is as qualified to discuss franchise management as he is because he did it for so long. Yet no one within that industry seems to back his assertions that he was incredibly successful. The evidence he usually cites is that his franchise increased in value, even though every franchise increased in value over that time period because the industry grew, and an argument could be made that a Miami-based franchise should have increased at a greater rate than its counterparts in smaller markets. Most of the evidence seems to point towards him being mediocre or outright incompetent at his job considering he’s not well respected by colleagues, he was rarely able to manipulate the owner in any sustained way, he was frequently bypassed during internal decision-making, quite often his advice was entirely ignored, and his predictions on labour market trends were completely wrong. Whenever he discusses the business with Skipper, Samson portrays himself to be more knowledgeable than Skipper, though it’s fairly obvious that Skipper is more successful, respected, and reasonable. The only angle that David seems to have is that he’s more honest about being a cut-throat capitalist, yet Skipper always seems to politely point out David has a flawed perspective that doesn’t work over the long-term. More frustrating is that Samson gets outwardly insecure and hostile that no one takes his opinions on movies as seriously as they should … yet he has absolutely no qualifications in that field beyond watching a bunch of stuff. But everyone else who just observes the poor decision-making constantly exhibited by sports management shouldn’t be taken seriously. Now listen to my opinions on Coda and Parasite!
Samson makes the shows better. I enjoy his conversations with Skipper and sometimes Dan/Mike. All of your criticism may be true, but none of them are actually based on facts - only assertions that may be true. For example, the assertion that Miami-based franchises should increase at a greater rate than small-market counterparts seems flawed. Rate of growth is going to be proportional to one's starting point. Additionally, if anything, places with less entertainment options would be expected to fare better than a party-town like Miami where there is competition for one's attention and entertainment dollars. I may be wrong but Samson comes across as credible to me when he discusses business - he offers a different perspective than anyone on the show and he brings out the best in Skipper's appearances.
It's also possible for someone to be very good at their job and not have success in certain areas. However, I would argue that he was successful and did what the owner expected him to do. They did win a championship. They did obtain an insane amount of money from the city of Miami to build the stadium. They sold the franchise at an overvalued amount. I know that some or all of those things are not seen as success by many people, but a cutthroat capitalist like Samson would say that they were fairly successful.

I like having the opinion of management, ex-players and journalists. Each can add value from a different direction. I would have expected more self-confidence from a Hollywood star. Strange to think that a 5'3" dude acts more like a BSD...

I know for a fact that Billy/Guermo doesn't give 3 tail spins of a Hippos sh** frenzy about Samson's takes..I know ok,,,David was exect prez which means Samson was once a Vampire for the cause of corporate Greed but now the Vampire is on our side !! In the 1800's u probably would have gotten a wife & child out the deal but times change,,don't be Salty.
So he makes some sort of accusation and then runs in hiding to not disscus and solve it? or at least find the probable common ground?? wow! nice way to go bud
