Actually, fuck it, I'm going to say it. This video is to the modular synthesis practice what the Sex Pistols' 4th June, 1976 Lesser Free Trade Hall gig was to the fabled Manchester music scene of the 1970s and 1980s. Twenty years from now, anyone who's anyone will claim they totally were there to see the sandwich get made, but in reality there were only the 26.8K Make Noise subscribers that saw it for real.
Funnily enough, I have two friends who were actually at that gig, for real. One of them even ended up getting a job as a roadie for Joy Division because of it.
Re-watching basically all of your videos now that I finally managed to get my hands on a Tape & Microsound Music Machine. Was delighted to catch that Cage reference at 5:44: "Which is more musical, a truck passing by a factory or a truck / passing by a music school?" (Composition as Process III). I always appreciate the subtle nods in your videos 😀
Thanks for these; it’s great to have such a rich ‘video manual.’ We must be roughly the same age, judging from your quoting of both 3-2-1-Contact and You Be Illin’.
Nice video, ever since the last OH with Bana Haffar and these two sandwich videos, I've been thinking about composing and compositions on the modular as a broader topic. Would be nice to see some videos on that front, even if they are slightly abstract in nature!
Yes, this little series is kind of starting to toe those waters. I'm working on figuring out how to discuss that kind of thing in a way that is clear and concise and entertaining. Getting a little closer all the time :)
As always, fantastic video. The whole found sound/field recording thing is one that's interested me for years now and, having made some forays into exploring these ideas within a DAW, I do think that the whole idea of using a modular set-up to do it seems a way, way more intuitive and organic process. I really, really need to get myself either a Tape & Microsound Music Machine or a Shared System. And, as always, Oof!
I only bought Reaper for the Morphagene, but only used it in a very basic way. A tutorial on how to do good Morphagene reels would be appreciated. Like when you cut out stuff you snapped together the two parts so there was no silence in between.
A question: Would it be possible to switch the vari speed to quantized steps with a future firmware upgrade? Like, the user can select a mode or scale on options txt and the knob behavior changes? That would be really cool. Thank you. :)
no way I cant hear some one heating, I hate that sound, and there is one sample we hear chewing with moister.... I am sure the result will be interesting , for you lol. But yes until I stopped half way trough it was sounding very interesting and fun :) (apart of that sample)

This is probably the best comment we'll ever get on the channel hahah

These videos are getting more and more and more philosophical. Patchito ergo sum

I've been waiting breathlessly for untold months for somebody to catch the Run DMC reference
Love these practical explorations combined with the meta philosophy of the creative process. Keep it weird Walter!
Thank you, will do!

Great video’s about composition and the use of field recordings. Thanks for the inspiration Walker!
Thanks for watching!!
I love a good extended metaphor.
So do I! :P
i love the way you talk about things
This sandwich
This room
This time
These hands
This digestion process
nuff said!
I made a sandwich to go along with the video. Grilled halloumi, arugula, cucumber, tomato, and a lemon-y mayo dressing on country-style bread.
Yummmm
I like it ... stil getting goosebumps with those smashing eating sounds ... very inspirational
Thanks for watching!
Well Played!
Excited for my 0 coast to ship out!
Excited for you!
Love this!
Thank you!!

I do find it faster and more inspiring! It all depends on what exactly you are trying to do, of course. Thanks for watching as always!
this is poetry.
Thanks!

You can find any you tube reaper/daw tutorial on this. The only concern for morphagene reels is moving marker points correctly and exporting them.

Just realized this system is the perfect combo of Shared and TAMMM.
Morphagene-induced misophonic torture.
...still my favorite module.
Haha, sorry about that :P
Was there processing involved in the edit, normalization /eq / etc?
Light compression, then normalization
I sound actually great. Nice sandwich concrète.
Thanks!!
Morphagenetically modified sandwich entrails.....mmmm
definitely delicious
Local Oil Cluster - band name - I call it.
i want that t shirt
Had a little tie dye party last weekend :)
The sandwitch is a lie. Just like the cake in Portal 2. It's a strawberry cake and it's all over your shirt. Great shirt, BTW, should be in stores!

Yes, sorry about that. We'll move away from the eating sounds for awhile now that this series is concluded :P
@@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC hope you start other series soon... I do love everything you do ( exept, well you know lol)
Everybody eats
As close to a universal truth as I was able to find
That peanut butter looks disgusting
why you gotta be so negative?
Fair. It sounds even grosser than it looks!
