Enjoyed the adventure. Cedar Breaks region, Duck Creek, route 14, has a lot of volcanic rock with aspens and in the fall it is beautiful with the blue sky.
Just getting caught up. What a fascinating area!! Neither of us have ever been to Arizona, but when we do, this area will be on the “must see” list! John seemed a bit cocky throughout the video. I loved the shirt! 😂
Hello good morning John & Debbie 👋 what a fascinating place, so full of history and beauty. Debbie, I've been meaning to ask you, if you have your own channel on photos you've taken on these amazing places you've visited. Would definitely love to follow. Photography is one of my passions, so would definitely like to see your point of view. Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful place, it's made into my trapper 😁 safe travels, Yvonne 🥰
@@FromShetoMe Thank you for your candid response Debbie. In all honesty, I'm not a professional photographer, amateur maybe, but I'm self taught. I love shadows, sunsets, textures anything the moves me emotionally, then I click away 📸 but it's really what moves me that really inspires me to photography. Again, thank you for your inspiration and wonderful episode, safe travels, Yvonne 🥰
Nice video! Greetings from Albuquerque. After a week in Flagstaff for GeoWoodstock over Memorial Day. We did a Sunset Crater-Wupatki-Grand Canyon loop. The last time we were in the area in April 2022 the Tunnel Fire was raging and the highway closed. So we had to come back. The ruins are great!
As a professional trumpet player, I have a theory about the blow hole. They say the Puebloans built the town there because of the blow hole being held in religious reverence. I think it was more likely a natural spring that went dry after tectonic movement shut off the water , which was very important to surviving the arid conditions.
@@FromShetoMe I thought if I was the Chief I'd have a summer home built on the spot, 🤣. That being said, the abandonment of all the Cliff Dwelling, The Mississippian Mound Builders, the Vikings leaving Greenland and huge crop failures in Europe, all of which happened coincidentally at the end of the Medieval Warm Period. So this could also explain blow holes that may have been springs before a lowered water table. I may just be a blow hole but it seems incurious of the National Parks Service to not take a look at alternative reasons to build a town on a certain site. Stare off into the desert out there and tell me where the water is , because when I was there , I didn't see any. Dang ! I sure did some major palabering. Thanks for all your videos. Always look forward to your adventures.
@@stanw909 Excellent points. While I was doing my research, I was struck by the lack of information regarding the earth cracks which led me down the blowhole rabbit hole as well. I imagine that some of the challenges they have in doing research may be related to tribal issues. But I really don't know. Would be interesting to do one of the tours they do outside of the public areas.
@@FromShetoMe We went to Chaco Canyon a couple years back and they also mentioned the Aztec's influence on the Cliff Dwelling/Puebloan societies. Well, you know how Google follows your every move for marketing purposes? I got home and my TH-cam account recommended a documentary on ritual cannibalism in the Chacoan and Mesa Verde area. They are very interesting and very compelling in their conclusions. There were many skulls found in burial mounds that showed sharpened teeth,a common trait of Aztec nobles and priests. The explanation by the National Parks Service was to not allow it to be shown for cultural sensitivity to the Hopi and Zunni tribes who do not now or ever have practiced ritual cannibalism. That is just ridiculous on its face , but that is what the people who are tasked with interpreting the past have become. After all, the documentarians are attributing this to visiting Aztec's and not the Puebloan culture at large. It's been a few years but I didn't see any comments expressing anger by Aztecs. Kind of funny but my wife's family jokes that they are the " Los decendencia de los Aztecas " . I have to point out that their name Cambron is more closely related to the Belgium/French and Napoleon II installed Emperor Maximilian (brother to Emperor Frans Joseph of the Hapsburg dynasty of Austria). I call them French usurpers. They don't like my joke. Here I go again. Sorry
We went to Sunset Crater & Wapatki several years ago. You saw way more than we did! We really enjoyed Arizona this last time through & are looking forward to going back.
Love the exploration, great info which inspires to visit. The petroglyphs made me wonder on their meaning. Some things are more fabulous being loud- like John rockin' the Rooster shirt, the louder music overtook your compelling narrative.
Thanks for sharing your trip. I always enjoy your walks in a natural environment that is unfamiliar to me. - Greetings from the Loire valley with its magnificent castles.
Thank you for filming this. I stopped at Lyman Lake (snuck in and had lunch) on the way to Flagstaff. I am determined to camp there for a night or two someday.
Leave it to you too to find these great places ! Wanted to let you know, just in case you haven’t heard, Noraly, Itchy Boots, was badly injured in Tanzania. Went home to get needed surgery. Check out her last two videos. 🇺🇸🌵❤️
Yes, we never miss an episode and were so sorry she was injured. We're always trying to guess where she will go next. Maybe Australia? I am always on edge watching her episodes but she has taught me so much about places I've never dreamed of going.
Beautiful! I enjoyed seeing these places in 2022. Did you hit any good ice cream places on the way home?😄🍦Looking forward to seeing your Summer adventure. I'm going north for the Summer and meeting up with a Coachmen group in Oregon.
I greatly appreciate your videos, beautiful scenery, including history of the area, plus the visual maps. Do you use the America Beautiful pass? Do you know if the Campground fees would be half price r/t seniors, etc.? Thanks. Be safe. ☮
Lyman Lake is a state park so they don't accept the pass. But, for example, Bonito Campground is a Forest Service campground and they would accept the pass.
I love this video! You always do such a great job with your editing. How much time does it take to make a video like this one. Thanks for taking me along with you on this adventure!
LOL, too much time. Most people say it takes about one hour per minute. I easily spend that and sometimes more on travel videos. I'm hoping I can reduce that as I gain more skills and knowledge.
Such beauty presented in a historical way - you two present history and actual places in a most interesting way - I wish my school teachers could of watched your presentations. When do you pick up the new rig? Thanks
Ours are made by Black Diamond. I always caution people to avoid the ones that adjust with a twist mechanism. They always fail (at least they have for me). Whatever you get, be sure it is a clamping style mechanism.

Arizona has so much to see. Just not in the summer. 🥵

Wow-been in that area a few times and had no idea all that was there-Thank you 🥰🇺🇸⭐️
Another scenic and informative video. Thanks to you and John, for taking us along.

Michael McDonald’s MoTown tribute albums are pretty groovy.
Love the out of the way National monuments. As always, thanks for the share.
I love Moon River as well!
Nice to see you in Northern Arizona. Your dispersed camping spot was practically in my back yard. It would have been neat to say hi.
Are you ever going to get your van? Tell the builder..."While we're young, please!
🤣

Apparently the area is known for its blowholes. Maybe they just enjoyed the cool air. 😄

Thank you for sharing this latest adventure! I can't wait until June to see what you will share with us. 😊
Thanks for another fantastic viseo
Love the video…liked the map in the beginning. You both rock!
Amazing terrain. Thank you.
What a great video. Thanks
Wonderful video, amazing photography, you always seem to be able to capture the mood with the most beautiful music.
thanks for taking us along for the ride❣

It's called "Peak Finder"

Just DQ on this trip...which we hit multiple times. 😅

We don't have a firm date but will be heading east soon so that we will be close by when we get the word.
Some of your video’s text shows “NM” next to “Sunset Crater” ? Shouldn’t it be “AZ” ?
Thanks. Yes, but unfortunately I can't change the text once it is posted.
