So, in a 1v1 against Atlantico you want to stay near or outside his secondary range of about 10 km. You also don’t want to try to 1v1 with a DD because he has incredibly hard hitting HE to shut down a rush and the turning to avoid long range torpedoes. Light cruisers are out because Atlantico still 10x380mm guns, and will win a DPS race anyways. Heavy cruisers are out because they’ll get torched before they can really put on the hurt. So you should probably pick a battleship. Then, what battleship? Well, you need to stay away from those 10km secondaries, so no German brawlers. You also need to have a decent amount of F&F protection, so no Japanese. You need some heavy DPS so the Brit’s are out. And you need to have good protection, so the Americans and French are out. Italians would be a possibility, but they don’t get HE. So a battleship with good defensive stats, a very long effective range, high DPM and firestarting. Sounds to me like the best way to fight an Atlantico is with an Atlantico!
I burned down 2 Atlanticos with monarch pretty easily. Also, I believe that if secondary overload is active the atlanticos secondaries can reach almost 11km or so.

First atlantico was just yoloing in trying to farm a bot or something.if you take an actual battle with at least half decent atlantico players best counters are HE spammers like a chapyev or something with enough range(most cls will struggle).Given how rare the cl players are atlanticos are just dominating t8. To actually kill an atlantico in a dd , stealth torp or ambush(you will prolly die).Both needs an Atlantico player with zero map awareness. Cvs the Ultimate bully class, dumpster any surface ship in the game.so it's not a point. Note there's a difference between a player jiving with a certain ship and a ship being outright overpowered.
imo the Atlantico behaves pretty much like any other solid battleship at this tier, like Roma or Flandre, gets consistent damage, shares all the same weaknesses. Like someone else has pointed out, the problem is simply that this thing's expected performance is not calibrated well against other ships at the tier. But then this is not only an Atlantico problem, newer ships tend to consistently bring up the statistical mean, DZP, Belfast 43, and now this thing. SO nerfing individual ships won't do much, there needs to be a general rework and recalibration for all the legacy tech tree ships

I must disagree with you mr. terry... I got myself one of those and I knew from the beginning it was completely overpowered and personally I don't think the main guns are a bad as you claim them to be I know a lot of battleships that would like to have similar guns. And I think we (the community) should be very clear about it and express our discontent with the developers, let them know we are not going to get away with this or else we will get more bs like this... Nowadays Atlantico makes Roma look fair and balance and if we don't do anything now in the future we will get something that will make Atlantico look fair and balance. I really think they should nerf this thing asap(But I mean a real nerf) I own one and would be the first one to vote to nerf this thing. It's for the sake of the game not just because Atlantico herself but also of the side effects that being people bringing their "good" ships to a remote chance on competing with Atlantico.
Should the ship be nerfed? Absolutely. Is it going to happen? No idea. I think Roma was stealth nerfed at some point, or so I've heard. I think it's good that we all complain about it, and let WG know that they need to do better with balancing those things before introducing them. But that all aside, the reality is that Atlântico, Belfast, Roma, DzP, Friesland etc exist, and for now, we'll have to deal with them. And I think there's a bit too much hype about how invincible these things are. I've been hunting those things for a week while I had some time last week, and the only time I had issues was when I tried brawling one in my Tirpitz, that one I lost, but barely.

Atlantico is getting so overused that it is getting out of control. Especially in the T8 Respawn mode, it was impossible to enter a game without triple Atlantico on each team. I am not sure why, is it because of the long range secondaries?
Atlantico is the very 1st premium ship I've owned at tier 8 or above. I've had to go up against Romas with my Gascogne and Monarch for years now. There was never any possibility that I was going to spend $50 on a Roma or any other OP tier 8 premium. But then they offered this last Blitz Pass, which cost $25 for a strong tier 8 premium battleship + permanent camo + 2500 gold + a semi-legendary commander + 12 days of good camo for all my other ships, along with other good stuff. Unfortunately, I didn't get my Atlantico til the very end of the Blitz Pass a few days ago. So I immediately began practicing with it in a few respawns. But as the only ship attempting to capture the freaking bases, I was being ganged up on by multiple enemy ships. My teammates avoided capping bases like OCD people avoid stepping on cracks in a sidewalk!

Is Edinburgh able do deal with Atlantico well? Knowing Edinburgh is ap only loaded shells and trying to stay away from the secondary range. Any advices dear experienced players 🙏
I played Massachusetts in respawn against them while leveling up Halsey. Got Halsey to level 11 so we had APCS. I’d push on an Atlantico when they were focused on someone else and the amount of citadels I was able to get on them became silly. Of course, it was respawn but I could double citadel on of those at 7km.
@@seatleop1533 i bought the Atlantico but have really haven’t played it at all. I’ve been spending my time seeing what ships might be able to counter it. Massachusetts worked good in randoms and really well in respawn. Just had to be careful when you could push in on them.
It is funny that you played the Odin because I was going to ask if the Odin was still worth owning now that Atlantico is ruling tier 8? I don’t know if you can test this, but I have gotten several citadel hits on the Atlantico with my Alabama aiming at the B turret.
The play style of the Odin is very different - but if an Atlantico can see you coming it’s not easy to take it on in an Odin. The Odin’s forte are its secondaries, and the Atlantico’s are just better - and have longer range. And the ship is much better armoured. Seems to me longer range plunging fire is a better bet against an Atlantico than using any other brawler.
Liked the video, but there is something, in the video you mentioned that battleships do have HE shells, that is not the case when you play with something like the Bismarck. An AP dedicated battleship on both main and secondary guns is surely struggling with that thing alone.

Thanks Terry, Here’s a good trick if you have the Cross of Dorn, basically an Odin, with it’s special skill (+25% ap penetration), and Franz Von Hipper with his enhanced apcs---you get the picture, and it works!
Yes, in a one on one situation it can work well as your speed and manoeuvrability (and torpedos) can also give you an advantage. But it’s pretty situational, because in a 7 vs 7 battle you don’t always get to use your strengths to their full advantage. And since the Atlantico’s secondaries out range the Odin/Cross of Dorn’s, if you get too close it can get very painful indeed.

I went in a brawl vs an Atlantico with a Tirpitz, and it could work if the enemy team didn't focus me down along with an Atlantico. But yea normally that is why you shouldn't brawl one of those things. On the plus side, just pick a good BB to do the job at range.
Whoever put this ship into the game needs the same treatment as that one CEO. So disgustingly and blatantly overpowered. And it's been years since I last played and it's STILL BLATANTLY OP
I think something that can burn down atlantico easily would be British battleships. They have very effective HE better than most battleships, and they have a great fire chance on the he especially on the nelson.
My initial reaction was to agree with you on this, but after a few weeks of both playing and facing it I’m not so sure. The number of times I’ve been matched in t8 games with two or three Atlantico’s on the other side has resulted in me avoiding t8 (and t7) matchmaking altogether. I’ve even had battles where a majority of all ships in the battle have been Atlantico’s. Granted, Roma’s, Belfasts etc are a bit OP for their tiers, but I’m starting to think that the Atlantico is OP enough to be toxic.
Interesting. I haven't really seen it that much, at most, there are the occasional two of them in a match. I didn't have the feeling, at least on NA, that it made a huge impact on my normal random games. Maybe they're more popular on other servers?
@@FunandGameswithTerry I play on the EU server. It could be that people there have a greater tendency to play brawling BBs rather than longer range snipers, but just speculating. But yeah, I’ve had multiple games with 5 or more Atlantico’s in the game. Most t8 games these days have at least one or two.
I think I got the Atlantico a bit late, when people had figured out how to handle it. It has one of my lowest win percentages. But I do love having those long range secondaries.
Yup. Cut the deck armour in half, switch to SO1, and then we're talking. Is that going to happen? Don't know. If so, it needs a release, so in the very best case, we'll have to wait for a couple of months. In the meantime, we'll have to live with them. Hence, video 😁
Terry I respect you but I don’t think anyone was saying this ship is invincible. Nobody was saying it guarantees a win. Yes I’m sure you can show games where they get beat bad. At the end of the day it’s the best BB in tier. Seems it was also sold very cheap. I don’t think you showed anything but bad teams. Staying out of secondary range is 11km or so. What that means is literally run away until it’s not focusing you. Better way to put it is base your entire game around this ship. Which there are many.

@@FunandGameswithTerry it’s not invincible… it’s a good ship but a good team can easily deal with it. I been up against them in my Richelieu, Lenin, Champagne and Bismarck. It’s possible. Stay out if reach concentrate fire and the ship is soon gone. On the other I love playing the ship. I’m a whale and don’t mind spending a bit of cash in an interesting ship. A lot of people are moaning about it. I think it was cool of war gaming to put such a good ship within the reach of most people. It’s a game. Get in a good fleet, have a laugh with some pals and enjoy it for what it is. As always a good team or even someone just calling out the shots and leading the team will beat a whole fleet of Atlanticos. Chill

Unless an aircraft carrier is playing or a brave dad is spotting for the opposing team surface detection is at 8.8 Kms the element of surprise is hilarious ! You can slip in and out of detection and still tear chunks out of everything hahaha! Another thing I bloody hate it when ships are nerfed. You grind through a line get to the Lepanto and the Columbo enjoy it for a few weeks and it’s emasculated…. The thing is people are moaning because they missed their chance to get one. End of

I haven't yet made it past tier 6 in the German "battlecruiser" line. Which of those ships are good(tier 7 - 10)? I returned to the game recently, after a year long hiatus, and grinding the Italian BB line was my priority. I heard they were good at annihilating enemy destroyers with SAP, which really drew my interest!
@@HighlanderNorth1 Prinz Heinrich is my personal best BB statistically and it's my favourite BB. It's amazing Zieten is a tough cookie to master. You have supercruiser reload but only 6 guns. They are 16 inch however. Secs are amazing, torps are good Prinz Ruperecht is amazing, you finally have 16 torps in total so you can finally "drop the sea mines" at insane ranges. You have amazing secs and the main guns are a massive improvement. I have won several 1v1 with Montanas and Columbos even without the torps. Plus you get Sec Overload 3 so secs go brrrrr Schlieffen is pretty good. Again amazing secs, and decent main battery and torps. But there is a noticeable size increase. So be wary of that. For the build, always go secs for slot 1, either propulsion or traverse for slot 2, or concealment/torp protection/traverse 2 for slot 3. I recommend concealment for the ambush playstyle, traverse for cruiser playstyle, or torp protection to play a bit more traditionally. For strategy, stay at the back for the first half, the moment you see an opportunity, push. Prioritise DDs and CLs, as they are perfect counters. You don't have enough HP or torp protection to eat too many torps and fires kill you quick as your HP is low. Try to avoid BBs for the first half, as your armor is relatively weak and BB shells will cit you quite often. Launch your torps at advancing enemies or chokepoints near which enemies were spotted, you might kill a DD or two with it. I once torped a Shima at extreme range as he was tunnel visioning on the CV. Ez kill. You can also save torps up for a brawl. Use your secondary overload either in a 1v1 or for quickly killing a DD, otherwise your base secondaries are fine. That's my two cents on the matter
I disagree with Terry about the main guns. Maybe it's my topped out captain, but I'm getting frequent citadels and great accuracy at long range. It's an easy ship to play and perfect when I'm just in a mood to blow shit up. It is easy to counter and easy to ambush with DDs but I can take on multiple BBs with little problem.
I hate playing this way but I just use Harlem against it .. reverse and bow in .. lots of plane drops.. I learned how to play Dutch cruisers so I could know how to kill them with Italian and German bbs but now I’m actually playing them with all these atlanticos around
hmm i got it quite late and only played about 3 battles with it. it really wasnt as op as people always say. however i played a lot of matches against it in a north carolina(i decided to touch that again) and didnt have too big difficulties
About her secondaries: it is not the" best secondaries of the game"! It is a tier VII cruiser main battery! And yes this is the ship I hate the most of the whole game, because it is toooooooo overpowered: example: with my tier XIII Bismarck in 1v1 she smash me, and me I just make her loose 1/4 of her hp ...! But thanks to your explanation, next time, I would stay away and shoot with HE.

Uhh, Terry, you SHOULDN'T be loading HE in a RIchelieu when facing an Atlantico. Richelieu is one of the few BBs with sufficient AP pen to penetrate Atlantico's armour but to sum it up, the way to counter Atlantico is: 1)Throw all your HE at them(up to CLs only) 2)AP bow/stern(BB/ships with good Alphastrike) 3)Torpedo assassination(yes, Asashio, I'm looking at you) Here's a video from another TH-camr demonstrating how to counter Atlantico with a division: th-cam.com/video/tl6rw5mq30w/w-d-xo.html

Sorry Terry. I understand there is other ships like this but few. One being Smolensk. It’s also very expensive to get and rare to get. Probably less smolensk in game and it’s been out very long. That being said the complaints are valid. Simply saying nothing is wrong is the wrong approach. I have to stress I do love your content. But I also feel people are allowed to like and disagree with someone.
I don’t know why everyone upset ..they will nerf it fast! Remember the tier X BB Cristofo Colombo.. that got nerfed real fast and WG will definitely nerf Atlantico because they won’t sell anymore tier 8BB premiums otherwise
Nothing wrong with Atlantico, she's just a force to be recognized with. The real problem of this game is the sheer number of lowskilled and brainless players who can't play in a team and only know how to go Yolo solo forward. These are crying the hardest now because WG gave us a hammer to beat them done. It's a reward for always carrying the stupid. I have sunk many Atlantico's like you described. WG shouldn't nerf Atlantico. The bad players need to start to think.

Odin is a great counter to Alantico,and Richelieu is pretty good too.if u use the the Richelieu defense she can win .Great video Terry thank you.

Unfortunately, I didn't get my Atlantico til the very end of the Blitz Pass a few days ago. So I immediately began practicing with it in a few respawns. But as the only ship attempting to capture the freaking bases, I was being ganged up on by multiple enemy ships. My teammates avoided capping bases like OCD people avoid stepping on cracks in a sidewalk!
So it's a good time to break out Freddie or Iowa?

Is Edinburgh able do deal with Atlantico well? Knowing Edinburgh is ap only loaded shells and trying to stay away from the secondary range. Any advices dear experienced players 🙏
I played Massachusetts in respawn against them while leveling up Halsey. Got Halsey to level 11 so we had APCS. I’d push on an Atlantico when they were focused on someone else and the amount of citadels I was able to get on them became silly. Of course, it was respawn but I could double citadel on of those at 7km.

@@seatleop1533 i bought the Atlantico but have really haven’t played it at all. I’ve been spending my time seeing what ships might be able to counter it. Massachusetts worked good in randoms and really well in respawn. Just had to be careful when you could push in on them.
I think Monarch is a great ship to counter the atlantico because it has the best HE shells in tier 8
Exactly. That how I toyed with the Atlanticoes in the games, with the most despised, by far, tech-tree BB.
It is funny that you played the Odin because I was going to ask if the Odin was still worth owning now that Atlantico is ruling tier 8? I don’t know if you can test this, but I have gotten several citadel hits on the Atlantico with my Alabama aiming at the B turret.
The play style of the Odin is very different - but if an Atlantico can see you coming it’s not easy to take it on in an Odin. The Odin’s forte are its secondaries, and the Atlantico’s are just better - and have longer range. And the ship is much better armoured.
Seems to me longer range plunging fire is a better bet against an Atlantico than using any other brawler.
Fire up a carrier and this is an easy ship to target. Firestarters like the Dutch cruisers work very well too

Liked the video, but there is something, in the video you mentioned that battleships do have HE shells, that is not the case when you play with something like the Bismarck.
An AP dedicated battleship on both main and secondary guns is surely struggling with that thing alone.

Thanks Terry, Here’s a good trick if you have the Cross of Dorn, basically an Odin, with it’s special skill (+25% ap penetration), and Franz Von Hipper with his enhanced apcs---you get the picture, and it works!
Yes, in a one on one situation it can work well as your speed and manoeuvrability (and torpedos) can also give you an advantage. But it’s pretty situational, because in a 7 vs 7 battle you don’t always get to use your strengths to their full advantage. And since the Atlantico’s secondaries out range the Odin/Cross of Dorn’s, if you get too close it can get very painful indeed.
My fav antidote to Atlántico is Asashio, with the torp reload commander

I went in a brawl vs an Atlantico with a Tirpitz, and it could work if the enemy team didn't focus me down along with an Atlantico. But yea normally that is why you shouldn't brawl one of those things. On the plus side, just pick a good BB to do the job at range.
Whoever put this ship into the game needs the same treatment as that one CEO. So disgustingly and blatantly overpowered. And it's been years since I last played and it's STILL BLATANTLY OP
I think something that can burn down atlantico easily would be British battleships. They have very effective HE better than most battleships, and they have a great fire chance on the he especially on the nelson.
My initial reaction was to agree with you on this, but after a few weeks of both playing and facing it I’m not so sure. The number of times I’ve been matched in t8 games with two or three Atlantico’s on the other side has resulted in me avoiding t8 (and t7) matchmaking altogether. I’ve even had battles where a majority of all ships in the battle have been Atlantico’s.
Granted, Roma’s, Belfasts etc are a bit OP for their tiers, but I’m starting to think that the Atlantico is OP enough to be toxic.
Interesting. I haven't really seen it that much, at most, there are the occasional two of them in a match. I didn't have the feeling, at least on NA, that it made a huge impact on my normal random games. Maybe they're more popular on other servers?

I play on the EU server. It could be that people there have a greater tendency to play brawling BBs rather than longer range snipers, but just speculating. But yeah, I’ve had multiple games with 5 or more Atlantico’s in the game. Most t8 games these days have at least one or two.
A large ship's enemy is a tiny one with fast firing guns.

I think I got the Atlantico a bit late, when people had figured out how to handle it. It has one of my lowest win percentages. But I do love having those long range secondaries.
It's fun to play, with secondaries on that stupid range, for a bit, but I think it'd get boring for me. Too slow, and not enough of a challenge.

Terry I respect you but I don’t think anyone was saying this ship is invincible. Nobody was saying it guarantees a win. Yes I’m sure you can show games where they get beat bad. At the end of the day it’s the best BB in tier. Seems it was also sold very cheap.
I don’t think you showed anything but bad teams. Staying out of secondary range is 11km or so. What that means is literally run away until it’s not focusing you. Better way to put it is base your entire game around this ship. Which there are many.

@@FunandGameswithTerry it’s not invincible… it’s a good ship but a good team can easily deal with it. I been up against them in my Richelieu, Lenin, Champagne and Bismarck. It’s possible. Stay out if reach concentrate fire and the ship is soon gone. On the other I love playing the ship. I’m a whale and don’t mind spending a bit of cash in an interesting ship. A lot of people are moaning about it. I think it was cool of war gaming to put such a good ship within the reach of most people. It’s a game. Get in a good fleet, have a laugh with some pals and enjoy it for what it is. As always a good team or even someone just calling out the shots and leading the team will beat a whole fleet of Atlanticos. Chill

Unless an aircraft carrier is playing or a brave dad is spotting for the opposing team surface detection is at 8.8 Kms the element of surprise is hilarious ! You can slip in and out of detection and still tear chunks out of everything hahaha! Another thing I bloody hate it when ships are nerfed. You grind through a line get to the Lepanto and the Columbo enjoy it for a few weeks and it’s emasculated…. The thing is people are moaning because they missed their chance to get one. End of

Personally as for BBs I found the new German line most challenging to tank with because of the torps...
I haven't yet made it past tier 6 in the German "battlecruiser" line. Which of those ships are good(tier 7 - 10)? I returned to the game recently, after a year long hiatus, and grinding the Italian BB line was my priority. I heard they were good at annihilating enemy destroyers with SAP, which really drew my interest!

Zieten is a tough cookie to master. You have supercruiser reload but only 6 guns. They are 16 inch however. Secs are amazing, torps are good
Prinz Ruperecht is amazing, you finally have 16 torps in total so you can finally "drop the sea mines" at insane ranges. You have amazing secs and the main guns are a massive improvement. I have won several 1v1 with Montanas and Columbos even without the torps. Plus you get Sec Overload 3 so secs go brrrrr
Schlieffen is pretty good. Again amazing secs, and decent main battery and torps. But there is a noticeable size increase. So be wary of that.
For the build, always go secs for slot 1, either propulsion or traverse for slot 2, or concealment/torp protection/traverse 2 for slot 3. I recommend concealment for the ambush playstyle, traverse for cruiser playstyle, or torp protection to play a bit more traditionally.
For strategy, stay at the back for the first half, the moment you see an opportunity, push. Prioritise DDs and CLs, as they are perfect counters. You don't have enough HP or torp protection to eat too many torps and fires kill you quick as your HP is low. Try to avoid BBs for the first half, as your armor is relatively weak and BB shells will cit you quite often. Launch your torps at advancing enemies or chokepoints near which enemies were spotted, you might kill a DD or two with it. I once torped a Shima at extreme range as he was tunnel visioning on the CV. Ez kill. You can also save torps up for a brawl. Use your secondary overload either in a 1v1 or for quickly killing a DD, otherwise your base secondaries are fine.

I disagree with Terry about the main guns. Maybe it's my topped out captain, but I'm getting frequent citadels and great accuracy at long range. It's an easy ship to play and perfect when I'm just in a mood to blow shit up. It is easy to counter and easy to ambush with DDs but I can take on multiple BBs with little problem.

I hate playing this way but I just use Harlem against it .. reverse and bow in .. lots of plane drops.. I learned how to play Dutch cruisers so I could know how to kill them with Italian and German bbs but now I’m actually playing them with all these atlanticos around

hmm i got it quite late and only played about 3 battles with it. it really wasnt as op as people always say. however i played a lot of matches against it in a north carolina(i decided to touch that again) and didnt have too big difficulties

About her secondaries: it is not the" best secondaries of the game"! It is a tier VII cruiser main battery! And yes this is the ship I hate the most of the whole game, because it is toooooooo overpowered: example: with my tier XIII Bismarck in 1v1 she smash me, and me I just make her loose 1/4 of her hp ...!

I use the kansas with my maxed out commander and I destroy them with ease and thats with planes on top of me.
I use my Alabama most of the time, sometimes Chapayev.

Uhh, Terry, you SHOULDN'T be loading HE in a RIchelieu when facing an Atlantico. Richelieu is one of the few BBs with sufficient AP pen to penetrate Atlantico's armour
but to sum it up, the way to counter Atlantico is:
1)Throw all your HE at them(up to CLs only)
2)AP bow/stern(BB/ships with good Alphastrike)
3)Torpedo assassination(yes, Asashio, I'm looking at you)

Sorry Terry. I understand there is other ships like this but few. One being Smolensk. It’s also very expensive to get and rare to get. Probably less smolensk in game and it’s been out very long. That being said the complaints are valid. Simply saying nothing is wrong is the wrong approach.

The real problem of this game is the sheer number of lowskilled and brainless players who can't play in a team and only know how to go Yolo solo forward. These are crying the hardest now because WG gave us a hammer to beat them done. It's a reward for always carrying the stupid.
