As a Brit, American marching bands are so fascinating to me! I love watching them. Especially at the start when you all just played at the exact same time. Keep up the good work guys! 🇺🇸 🇬🇧
Good on you for actually taking charge and making them play. I was convinced for a minute yall were just gonna walk with your drums the whole time. Glad you seemed to have motivation.
Drumline without a Marching Band?? Remember.... a job well done, is a well job done, is a job done well. I started playing in Band in the early '70s. I got involved because early in the Summer between Grades 6th and 7th (Jr. High), I got my right wrist badly broken (also broke my elbow but since my wrist was so badly injured, the elbow went unnoticed until I had a physical to join the Army lol. I was still allowed in and graduated Basic and AIT) and, my mom pretty much made me join the Band, since I could no longer play Football. I was devastated and knew I would hate it BUT, I quickly grew to love playing the Baritone and, by the time I was a Freshman in HS, I was 2nd chair! I went to a rather small HS that had roughly 200 students in each Class and, our Marching Band had 220 members! I won many medals for solos and patches for All-District Band (all 4 yrs) and, loved playing however, I decided to tryout for a Drum Major spot (there would be 3, up from 2 by that time). I made Drum Major but, was gutted that I just missed making Head Drum Major. I made it my mission to outperform the Head Drum Major that Jr yr. (that was the rule, we had to be Jrs our first yr) lol. The next yr. I made damn sure I wouldn't be beat for Head Drum Major lol. Our Band was 1 of the best in the State, even winning competitions in other States. I worked my butt off and, my best friend and I were noticed (he played trumpet) by 1 of the State Universities and, we received full scholarships! I was even a Drum Major in the Marching Band. I say all of this just to let you young men know that, putting in hard work in HS, could very well pay off when it's time to go to University, even hopefully getting the Band Dept. to pay for your full ride. Work hard together and you very well could be surprised by what you as a group....accomplish. Best of luck!

Definitely do need a drum major yes, I’ve always been into music and what has always fascinated me most was piano but drums are where it’s at, I will say I get why you want to be playing the whole time, that’s what you’re there for, but, instead of yk, not waiting, I would just wait for a few seconds or so and let them all figure it out together. But, you did an awesome job and so did everyone else! I hope it’s been good lately since this post, this is the first time I’m coming across you all, I’ll definitely check out more of you guys!
