2:56 if you’re really observant you might notice the wiper motor is unplugged. Another gift from previous owners- broken wiper switch stalk is stuck on highest setting. So if I want wipers, I pop the hood and plug it in. Need to wire that to a toggle……….

those little G10 engines were pretty damn good. Not sure if they were different in the EU market, but the version that came in the 1st gen Wagon R was so fun- revved like a motorcycle engine!

I had a 91 gti, honestly it’s still my favourite car I’ve ever had.
Purchased for $300, it was such a loud pig to be in, but it was so reliable and nimble. It took me to uni for years, it drove through flood waters, it did a hillclimb and I beat other people with more experience and ‘better’ cars.
    I regret selling it!

Not one shot with audio from the car? Fail.

dont you need omologations for roll cages in the US? In italy it has to be FIA cvertified, i was wondering because im building the same chassis as a race car and have to have the cage built by a professional company to have it legal to participate in any semi serious amature events

We do and this car meets SCCA specifications. The issue is that the car was built for someone shorter than I or the current owner, so the halo bar being where it is wasn't as big of a deal for them.

I will contend though that this is still safer than most circle track "bang banger" cars in middle America.

For Hillclimb, technically the car only needs a 4-point bolt in bar with a harness bar and properly mounted fixed-bucket drivers seat to be legal. There are stipulations on tube diameter and wall thickness relative to chassis weight, as well as mounting pad sizes. It has been inspected and has an SCCA Time Trials logbook. It could have a full road race logbook if I had a permanent window net mounted.

No, VW won an injuction over the name a few years prior, which is why this is technically a GT (I know it's got GT-i stickers, the owner put them on to go along with its numbers and sponsor decals)
