  • Australian silent film production from 1926 entitled 'Forest Wealth' depicting forestry in New South Wales.
Captions explain the Forestry Commission of New South Wales activities and intentions. A wide range of activities are filmed, including planting, Pine seed collection, native forest harvesting and establishment of softwood plantations.
John Dark originally found ‘Forest Wealth’ in four rusty cans in the Forestry Commission Wood Technology safe in the 1964. Originally 35mm nitrate stock, projection tinted prints now held by the National Film and Sound Archive.
This film was made for the Forestry Commission in 1925 and 1926, having been ordered through Capt. S. Hawkins (Sovereign Film) and all actual filming and laboratory work was done by Charles Lacy Percival, an eminent film making of the period. It was commercial screened by MGM from 15.10.1926 to 19.1.1928
