My sister and I have been watching the new Kenobi series and just wow did it give me such feelings about Obi-wan and his friendship with Padme. You can view this as romantic or friendship. I love the chemistry between them and the idea even though there was already a 'favorite crime' in place technically. I'm huge Ewan Mcgregor Trash in reality.

The Obi-Wan + Padme romance vibe, strong with this one is.
Padme's heart had grown cold from Anakin's immaturity, and turned to the man who's always been her protector. All the requests for his detail. His willingness to go out and "bodyguard" at that time of night. "Obi-Wan's been here hasn't he?". Anakin's anger growing at the realization of something he knew not what it was, but that it was rotten. He has a premonition of Obi-Wan caring for Padme. Why wasn't he in the picture? Why is Obi-Wan there in her time of need? Luke and Leia were fathered by Obi-Wan. Not him. His rage was a vector. And so, he's cut down by the very man responsible. A man only just realizing his guilt. He shouts, pretending to search for answers. Trying to drown out what he already knows to be true; his selfish interference betrayed the prophetic savior, turning him to the dark side. Killing the woman he loves. Exterminating the Jedi. Ensuring the fall of The Republic.
Leia searches her feelings..."Are you my real father?".
Years he's lived in torment over the unfathomable damage he's done. "I wish I could say I was... but no I'm not," as he thinks to himself "No villain deserves that title".
You know, according to the official biography of George Lukas and several interviews, the original script for that movie has the relationship between Obi wan and Padme as the central plot to Anakin's jealousy and turn to the dark side by the Sith. We still see glimps of it. I don't think Anakin necessarily loved Padme as much as he wanted to possess her for her beauty. That turned to control, jealousy, paranoia. Anakin always wanted to take from Obi Wan what he could out of competitiveness. Obi Wan on the other hand, cared for Padme and protected her, that is true love. Anakin seduces Padme and is aggressive, making her uncomfortable. In the end, he strangles her. She is just a trophy he needed to win over his master. The prophecy, doesn't really state Anakin to be the chosen one. Rather, that the chosen one would bring the end of the Sith. The Jedi order assumed he had to be a Jedi, but the prophecy doesn't state that. This was cut off from the movie due to an accident on set in which the actor playing 3PO fell, so the scene could not be finished and made to the final movie. The script however, goes like this: Obi Wan sees Padme early in the dawn, to let her know that he is worried about Anakin's future due to their romance. He then explains how the Order expects him to be the chosen. Confronted with it by Padme, Obi Wan says no one knows what the Force will do, which path it follows, and that although the Order has the prophecy about the chosen one, it isn't stated anywhere he has to be a Jedi. I honestly believe that that mistake precipitated every tragic event in Star Wars. The Order believing Anakin to be the chosen one, and pressuring him to become a Jedi. I am very fond of the original script, and I think that in a way, Padme and Obi Wan would have been brought together if it was not for the Order's obsession with Anakin, and its consequences
@@sofiakatelyn I love the analysis that he just wanted to "win" her over Kenobi. Always feeling like he's in competition with him. I wish more of the connection for Obidala was left in the films; it would have driven that point home so much harder. Anakin wanted to possess her, not love her.
I'm months late, but I'm glad that at least someone is carrying the Obidala torch. If only, if only. God the potential those two had...

Amazing video! So beautifully done and Ewan is so heartbreaking in Kenobi series… never thought we would be treated to Obidala content after 17 years… but here we go, a couple of sentences and we all got feeeeels again ❤️

Yeah, there were several moments in Kenobi where it felt like the Obidala shippers were finally being given something. I think it's about as close as you can get to a now canon understanding that Obi-wan at least did have very deep feelings for her that were more than friendship.
