Just look at his eyes the pure joy, humilty, love, heartbreak, resolve, compassion a true western desperado who found purpose in all the brokenness he suffered i love this man would love to buy him a steak and just sit in silence while watching the sun set
I first heard Ryan on my wat to Weat Texas about 6yrs ago. This song came up on my Radio shuffle on youtube amazing how the vibe was just there with this song🫡
Stumbled upon this song during a 3 month stay due to a job in Louisiana almost 3 years ago...one of the best things that happened to me there was discovering Ryan Bingham's music! Brought about healing to my restless soul. Saw him in concert in Detroit this past January (won a pair of free tickets) and took my (then) 9 year old son. Great night, great tunes, great artist!
When I die, Lord Oh, won't You put my soul up on a train Won't You send it southbound Give a cool blues man name 'Cause I've been lost on them back roads And many times, I've gone blind Losing faith in my family Had drew me out my damn mind But on the south side of heaven Won't You take me home 'Cause I've been broke down for so long And Lord, it's getting cold I've been a desperado in West Texas For so long, Lord, I need a change For ten long years This old place ain't seen a drop of rain Now the wind blows everyday, Lord Oh, like a desert snow Like a lost bound train Running on cocaine and out of control But on the south side of heaven Won't You take me home 'Cause I've been broke down for so long And Lord, it's getting cold Long down the Louisiana byways Lonesome highways roll on Oh, won't You take me where the poor man lives It's where I call my home Can't you see that breeze Nothing but a change in pace Money can't buy my soul 'Cause it comes from a hard earned place But on the south side of heaven Won't You take me home 'Cause I've been gone for so long And Lord, it's getting cold But on the south side of heaven Won't You take me home 'Cause I've been gone for so long And Lord, it's getting cold
Was never big into country music, selective at best. But discovering Ryan has put him up there beside the best in my opinion, some of that outlaw country stuff, Dylan and Mark Lanegan, Nick Cave Warren Ellis, Cash and kristofferson. This guy this band , phenomenal.

That was freakin great
Thank you for the music that heals a broken soul
When I die, Lord
Oh, won't You put my soul up on a train
Won't You send it southbound
Give a cool blues man name
'Cause I've been lost on them back roads
And many times, I've gone blind
Losing faith in my family
Had drew me out my damn mind
But on the south side of heaven
Won't You take me home
'Cause I've been broke down for so long
And Lord, it's getting cold
I've been a desperado in West Texas
For so long, Lord, I need a change
For ten long years
This old place ain't seen a drop of rain
Now the wind blows everyday, Lord
Oh, like a desert snow
Like a lost bound train
Running on cocaine and out of control
But on the south side of heaven
Won't You take me home
'Cause I've been broke down for so long
And Lord, it's getting cold
Long down the Louisiana byways
Lonesome highways roll on
Oh, won't You take me where the poor man lives
It's where I call my home
Can't you see that breeze
Nothing but a change in pace
Money can't buy my soul
'Cause it comes from a hard earned place
But on the south side of heaven
Won't You take me home
'Cause I've been gone for so long
And Lord, it's getting cold
But on the south side of heaven
Won't You take me home
'Cause I've been gone for so long
And Lord, it's getting cold
