Lyrics:
bring it up, bring it up as you do
takin your time to wake up
work out a time to make up
is nothing dragging on you
you were in school for real
didn't you know the deal
don't you lose your head
lyin in your bed
thinkin pony is dead
don't you lose your smile
let the code compile
make it worth your while
giddy up racehorse number five
wing by those sunset skies for ever
you better do something clever
'bout dreamin' on
oh, old faded blue you've got to get it together
cause you can see yourself and you're so badly drawn
don't be in your head
bake a cake instead
be a quadruped
break into your song
do the whole thing wrong
be a place to belong
some trace still lingers in the air
and speaking softly you can hear
the wonder in your lonely voice
you are presented with a choice
a dash of colour in your eye
flash of magenta in the sky
tells you as words fall off your pen
your time will come along again
reality is coming all undone
but maybe you can save someone
if you learn how to have some fun
in your own world and raise the sun
so pegasus, keep singing that old song
a splash of colour and it's gone
but not for you and not for long
don't you lose your head
lyin in your bed
thinkin pony is dead
break into your song
do the whole thing wrong
be a place to belong
you know it's gone
but not for long
so long
as you remember the magic
there’s something that never ends
there’s life
it doesn’t have to be perfect
as long as you have your friends
and take good care of you
as you go on your adventures
and don’t be afraid to smile
your time will come along again
come along again
here we are in the future
eyyy
Beautiful calm voice man 😄👌👌
mmmmm, tasty reference
God this is absolutely addictive
and it's bright
The first of hopefully a new wave of comments, ever since the trailer 'Tales from the Herd' was uploaded onto Steam, and this song was the centerpiece of it
You've worked the styles of both Beatles, and ELO into this piece, which were both major influences on my life when growing up, and I've been on the FIM train ever since it started.
To an extent, still am, even after everything that's happened. This song has put a nice little bow on top of everything, and I want to thank you.
Your time will come along again.
I've always appreciated the flavor of your music. It's been probably 7 years and my feelings haven't changed.
You might like E.L.O. too then
I'm not much of an MLP fan but this song has NO BUSINESS BEING THIS GOOD?? WHAT THE HELL?? GREAT WORK MAN!!!!! I think this song just made my day, heck- my week!
holy shit i was just recommended this and im obsessed, a brony song with THIS different style but still so good?? oml
Being recommended this after 4 years is insane, it's been a good while and yeah, I can confidently say that it still slaps.
Im so glad I crossed this song via the Tales From The Herd trailer !!! Setting aside the excitement for a new MLP game, this song is such a pretty and soothing melody, and I’m almost mad TH-cam’s algorithm hasn’t brought me to your music yet. Looking forward to checking out what else you’ve made!
ELO hacked the pony music channel
Edit: Srsly though this sounds sick. Such a full mix and heavenly harmonies as always
@stevenstrumpf7Those were my thoughts exactly
Glad I'm not the only one who thought ELO
@stevenstrumpf7 And a pinch of Queen in the bombastic vocal harmonies
@@supertrampolinethebatpony3841 The piano melodies and high vocal notes around the start of the song reminded me of Elton John. It's all just very 1970s.
I personally am not a Brony or ever watched MLP and this song absolutely slaps! 🌧️
I keep coming back to this, hands down your best work.
The show may have concluded, but the ride never ends.
Missed your old sound so much, brings back good memories. Great song! I‘m so happy that you’re still with us.
Well, I haven't heard new pony music in a long, long while, which is something I may have to correct sometime soon. I see in my notifs a new Replacer song and go "Well, why not, especially with the subject matter at hand, let's see what goes on."
And then suddenly I'm hit with an upbeat 60's like song that is so happy and good and hits so many of my "yes" things in a song and I am sooooo down for it. I especially love that, of all things, you're called "Replacer" and here we are with an image that perfectly encapsulates that, almost. That's a hell of a thing to go on for a song that's releasing when the finale is about to come.
Nice work man. Cheered up my whole damn day just from this, so I thank you for that. Onto more discoveries, relationships and music. Both new and old.
This is so wholesome.
@@supertrampolinethebatpony3841 Haha, thanks. It was a good day when I first listened to this song :P
Hey. You appear to read your comments, so I just wanted to chime in with the rest: I've been here since the very beginning of FiM and this marks a somewhat bittersweet endpoint for me (and many others), even if I've been pretty divorced from the show over the last several years. Throughout it all, though, you've been one of my absolutely favorite parts of the fandom, and it almost goes without saying that this song is absolutely fantastic! In particular, I love the chord structures and the harmonies in the voices and organ.
Ironically enough, of all the artists I know, you might be the most impossible to replace :) Thanks again for all the years of wonderful music, and regardless of whether you move on from pony or shift to something else, I will always be there, eagerly listening.
Me too man.
I'm still astounded by how good this sounds
thanks :> your track on Eternal was one of the stand-outs for me by the way
@@replacer Thanks!
Phenomenal! My son, who is a brony, introduced me to your talented music :-)
That's so wonderful! Good music is timeless!
Don't know why I haven't commented earlier but I'm glad you like replacer's music.
It's like seargent pepper's lonley heart's club band had a foursome with a day in the life, pony and electric lights orchestra. It's so good it's sick. Plagued with a nice progressive structure and that nice major vibe
Okay I'm glad I'm not the only one who sounds stoned in this comment section.
@@supertrampolinethebatpony3841 I was thinking queen, but I can see what he means.
Please never change, Replacer.
Never stop being the brilliant You that you are~
Been awhile since I saw the trailer for the game and I decided to seek out the song and holy cow I was missing out.
another soul coming here from tales of the herd trailer. good lord this song is SO good! thank you so much for making it! much love to you and happy new year!
Confirmo
Listening again in 2020, such an amazing earworm. ❤
This song is great and the title is awesome. Been listening to replacer since 2014 and don't plan on stopping any time soon ^^
oh my god i've listened to this song so many times and never seen your comment
i've been watching YOUR stuff for years.
Hope you're around again soon.
This kind of sounds like the Beatles' "I Am the Walrus". I love it!!
I already said my initial piece about this track on Twitter, but having listened probably 20 times since then and really letting the lyrics sink in...
It's amazing how you captured exactly how I've come to feel about the show ending. I have no idea if this is how you meant it or not, but here's what I've got:
You lead in with a pretty tense intro, backed by a spooky organ playing, for all we know, a funeral dirge, and then all of a sudden... so much cheer. The rest of the song carries through it a playfulness that demands a bobbing head and the erasure of any sort of frown from one's face.
We're encouraged to take our time now that all is said and done, but... hey, don't you realize? Just like school, we've graduated, and now it's time to go. "Didn't you know the deal"?
What I think is super clever about the chorus bit is that you say "don't lose your head... thinking pony is dead"... but then a whole chorus of happy voices are chanting "pony is dead!" What's up with that? I interpret as... yes, the show is "dead", so to speak, but that's not a reason for despair. Our journeys and memories continue. "Your time will come along again."
The other interesting thing is that you mention a choice. I was just thinking this evening -- when the show ends, do we just look back and remember? Or do we look forward and attack new challenges with our past experiences? I suspect this song talks about something similar: "your time will come along again".
And the last calm bit gets me every time. I would have never expected the "something that never ends" to be "life" -- with these songs it's almost always something like the fandom, or our love for the show, or whatever. That stuff all lives on, too, but you touch on exactly what all of this is in service of -- a happy, joyous life for each of us. "It doesn't have to be perfect, as long as you have your friends."
So thank you for giving us an anthem for life after MLP. I can all but guarantee that this will be the first thing I listen to when I finally watch the finale, and it'll be the most fitting piece of music for the occasion I could have ever imagined.
(also I will never not smile at "BE A QUADRUPED! Be a quadruped! Be a quadruped, be a quadruped!")
it's very moving to see somebody take this much time over deconstructing something of mine, and it's nice to see evidence that the words resonate
Your interpretation is completely valid - when I write words, my aim is usually to try to set up an outline which a listener can flesh out with that which is most important to them - I could try to dictate how I feel, but how *you* feel is bound to be much more interesting (to you)
having said that... in order to get the ball rolling on this, I decided to write mainly to myself, since I'm the only person I would presume to deliver a lecture to. I think I'm saying, I can find the bright light in myself and pay it forward if I can just get my act together. And anyway, things come and go in cycles. Bake a cake. Don't be paralyzed by the fear of mistakes. Sing, be playful, go where the fun is. Laugh in the face of danger. Et cetera. :>
@@replacer That makes a lot of sense. I have noticed that your lyrics do like to leave a lot up for interpretation -- I've been trying to pin down some kind of meaning for The Last One Left and In Defence of Madness for ages, and can't put anything into words despite how much those songs also resonate with me -- and I'm a big fan of that concept of 'the death of the author', as it seems you are too ;)
That said, that explanation makes so much sense! To play and experiment in a creative space without fear is certainly another message I should take to heart as I work on my own creative pursuits -- and it seems like every creative decision in this song is aimed towards that playfulness. I think that's one of the things that really makes this song shine.
Thanks so much for sharing your side of the story here, replacer!
@@h2g2guy 'in defence of madness' was just bleakness, I had a very pessimistic outlook in 2015 (which turned out to be completely justified, but now that it's come true, being a light in the darkness is somewhat more important to me)... 'the last one left' sounds like trying to pull myself out of that mire to some extent, but I feel like the very last line of that is as good as my lyrics have ever gotten, and a good year before anybody was talking about fake news
@@replacer It's not every day you get a chance to peer into the mind of one of your favorite artists ;)
It's incredible how you were able to turn your pessimism into such a work of art with "Madness". I always loved the Cerulean Blue reference in there; I think it's because of how it's able to take such a cheerful memory and flip it on its head into a regret. The other bit that really stuck with me is the 'no eucatastrophe' verse, which really cements the endless hopelessness of the rest of the track (and also taught me an excellent word, haha).
It's interesting to me that you describe "The Last One Left" as pulling yourself out of the mire -- I always felt the song was about power or inner strength in some way, but what persistently intrigued me was that the second verse almost seemed... thankful, somehow? Like, as if the narrator was ultimately glad that "you held my head against the flame and made me give my crown to you". Perhaps because in the first verse, the narrator seems to imply that he's the last "enemy" left in a struggle against himself. Anyway, the last line (and the entire last verse for that matter) is incredible and almost prescient for sure -- but don't sell yourself short! From this fan's humble perspective, you've only improved with every single step along the way. Which is why I'm eternally excited to see what comes next :)
This conversation has led to me listening through a good portion of your older work, and as I teared up a bit to the line "I know one day you're gonna fly" in "Song for an Earth Pony", I realized that it's 3am in my time zone and I should probably retire for the night, haha.
Thanks again so much for taking the time to chat tonight. It's been the highlight of my week ;)
Such an inspiring and hopeful tune. Show wise im a tad behind and not up to date but the theme makes me remind the time with your music. I still occasionally jam out to Cerulean Blue or Let 'em in in my car. These songs started my love for the music community makes. And you still deliver unique songs for us all to enjoy. Thank you.
wow, incredible work! reminds me of some of ben folds’ work, rufus wainwright, as well as the sergeant pepper album!! lovely job!!
I listened to your track 100 times but I still have hard time believing it exist. You're a gem
This is so good! Your music is always so interesting, with so many layers to the music, and lyrics that don't fall to the standard tripe. I love it so much! Another instant favorite.
So glad to see another song from you before the finale. I haven't watched the show since season four, but I've always loved your music. It reminds me of all my happy memories of the show. Thank you for sharing your talent!
I knew that this song was on one of the recent-ish Ponies@Dawn by name, but haven't actually (at least to a degree I remember) listened to until it just now came up in the amazing birthday pony mixtape my amazing Brony friend Josiah made for me since my birthday was on the 19th, and now I'm tripping on edibles and listening to this inconceivably good song for the first time and before I even looked to see what song was playing, I knew in a flash that this had that one-of-a-kind indefatigable Replacer magic flowing through it, especially once your ineffable vocals dropped so lovingly into the mix. You carried me upon a preternatural odyssey of sonic joy, effortlessly traipsing from Beatles to ELO to Queen and then seamlessly back to that unmistakable prestidigitation that some call divine, but I call replacer.
I am ridiculously and almost inconceivably verbose when I'm stoned. Good song though!
Couldn't agree more. This song is a trip!
Wow I was really high when I wrote this. Hope it didn't come off too weirdly. Still a great song though.
Now this... this is one of those "instant favourite" songs that come along but rarely. As well as the other bands mentioned by others (Beatles, ELO etc) I definitely think there's a hint of Kinks in here, especially the "Don't you lose your head" sections. And since I love the Kinks, that's another plus! :)
Pony never dies it just changes form.
This is one of the last songs I listened to before becoming homeless back in 2019, made me cry back then and still does now(arguably more so.)
Thank you for being there for the past 9 years, your music helped a bit.
This really does capture how it feels to be here, sitting around in the aftermath of the show, wondering what the /next/ ten years are gonna be like.
Thanks so much for that
I feel like I've seen you on FimFiction.
Pony is never dead.
Feels silly to say I was moved to tears by a pony fansong, but in all fairness, it's a REALLY good pony fansong. The whole ending bit is so soft and reassuring-- "your time will come along again".... viva la G4. Let's hope G5 brings even more new friends and good times.
i was never a fan of pony music in the old days, but i really missed out when it came to you. you're music is incredible. thank you so much for all the effort you put into it!
One of the best songs from Eternal, I love this one! Amazing job, keep doing what you do!!!
oh no I'm getting peppa pig recommendations again after watching this video
but seriously I love your beatles-esque music man. you have the perfect voice for it.
No words... Listened to it a couple times and it's easily my favorite song from 2019. The vibe and sound you capture with your instrumentation and vocals is surreal. Thanks.
I can't stop listening to this. Your music is always so dynamic and layered, and your lyrics and word choice are, as always, gripping and new. Thank you!
The Beatles cosplay at a pony convention
Your music always gets me emotional, thank you for making this song, you are my favorite musician, bar none.
My ears have been blessed, thank you for this harmonic masterpeice of a song.
This may just be my anthem for a good part of post-pony. Thank you, replacer.
2023 and still amazing
Still listening to this day ❤️ and for the foreseeable future!
Feels very oingo boingo x the beatles. Nice!
What a good way to get me back into pony music and mlp in general.. Thanks Replacer, you’re always a goto for me when I put my headphones in.
Darn notifications finally recommending this to me! This is awsome! Pony on forever with that incredible voice to carry us on~
I didn't realize how much I missed this~ This lovely nostalgic sound, yet also, completely new and different.
Another incredible song
Amazingly reassuring song with the context of the finale. Amazingly reassuring and simply pleasing to hear.
Made my day
im so glad i saw that trailer because i am officially OBSESSED with this song!! it feels like a song tmbg would make for an mlp feature and i completely adore it
This song is so amazing I genuinely thought it would be at least your top 5 most views
I just love your music so much, Replacer!
i feel like my replays alone have counted to about a third of the view count. Seriously you need more attention.
the youtube algorithm punishes channels like mine that upload sporadically, so my numbers are always a bit low. I'm still happy for all the support I get :>
I absolutely adore this song, thank you
It was a good , long run. I may have joined this fandom a bit late but I think I've made a good decision to stay in the fandom for stuff just like this. Something that connects to me that the mainstream media can't do ❤ loving it & keep it up man! 🙂👏🏼
You're the only Brony musician I still listen to, and I'll keep listening as long as you keep up the bops. I honestly wish all music sounded like this.
Your songs always seem to have such a clear ideas and messages to me despite their somewhat nebulous diction. They have also always come at a time in my life where they make the most sense. So I thank you very much for what you do and I hope you continue to do it in the future.
Now this sounds nice! Sounds like something that was made in the 1970s! Love it! :)
This is totally exquisite
This is sooo amazing! I love it! :)
this is so bouncy, i love it!
i just found this and my good love. you got a top voice how have i never come across you. keep up the great work lad. the world misses a sound like this these days
I've been listening to this on repeat for a few days now
And I'm pretty sure I will not stop any time soon
your songs have a soul of their own. this one's soul screams freedom and eagerness for the future to come!
This work with voice...beautiful
Oh wow! Thats so awesome. This is really gonna be my favourite song for a while! Thank you mate for such a great music you make
Yaaaay! New Replacer! I love and and have missed your work
I love this song so so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love this so much, it has so much emotion ♥
I think I might have a new favorite replacer song, I didn't think it was possible!
Currently my favorite on Eternal. Exceptional as always!
This is amazing, I love it! It just made my whole day!
Not another syntax error. I swear man, if it's just a missing semicolon... Great song.
Don't ever change replacer we need you
As I live and breathe... Got this notification while watching the anniversary stream. Greasy stuff, I'll ask them to play it.
Excellent. Gonna be listening to this one for a while to come.
This is literally my favorite song in the new album, or probably in any album
A huge Guilty Gear Vibe! So good! Aaaa
Heavy ELO and Supertramp vibes.
Sounds cool, as usual.
This is a great song, even though I don't know why I got it recomended. But I am not complaining, I love it
This bring me back to the time where I first start join the fandom. Cause of song like this, just beautiful.
I sure. I'll recommend it for everyone! :)
This song gives me very strong ELO vibes. I love it!
Oh man, this sounds so weird I love it!
Coming back just to say again, I love this.
Cheers, to the next chapter of our journey and to the lifelong influence of our favorite cartoon equines, forever in my heart.
9 years man.
Weird thinking about it, but honestly, that was a great time.
I should get more involved in a community like that again, those were amazing years, especially 2011-2014 was mind-blowing stuff, a feel of community that I doubt I'll ever experience again.
But you never know, right? :D
This is amazing ty
This song sounds like a queen song
Great stuff as always man, always a pleasure to hear your music
This... warms the cockles.
Hello there. Im new to this whole thing, but when youtube randomly recommended me this video. But gosh dude, this is like the Beatles and Wings. Hmmmm maybe a little of ELO with it. Overall, this is awsome. But i dont watch mlp much, just been having some retro vibes of my self cause I've like the retro era. This one has that tone of one. Great job. I'll check some more out. Usually, ppl don't understand me, they must be thinking im jiving. Eh, dont care what they say. Its me for me.
Very good song. Sounds to me that it has a beatles inspiration.
it definitely doesn't _not_ have some beatles in it
Whoa, this is some pretty sweet tune! Really love the ELO vibes here
I love this
As ever, your music is one of the biggest highlights of a P@D album. Great work! 💙
holy shit man i knew you were goooood but.............this is REAAAALLLLLLLL GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD PHEW
just got the P@D album, loved skyward. Keep going Replacer!
