I met Martin Lawrence when I was 16 while working as an assistant set decorator on the film, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate. I was sleeping during a break and I woke up to someone asking me "How I was doing?" and it was him. I said "great" and he told me he appreciated me and to keep up the good work. Super nice guy.

I was shocked to learn he was just getting a star!! As many other viewers, I have been a Martin fan since day one. My husband and I watched our Martin dvds when I was pregnant and as a result, my now 15yr old daughter is a huge fan and knows every episode and most of his movie. Martin's gift to bring laughter into homes is unmatched!! One of favorite comedians!!

I don't think he understands how much laughter he added (and STILL adds) to my life from just that show. Aside from "I Love Lucy," there is no other show where I laugh pretty much as hard today after having seen each episode hundreds of times as I did back then when they originally aired. Truly iconic.

People outside of black community will never understand what the show Martin has done for black culture. Literally impacted and shaped it in so many ways.
Edit: “Community” as defined by the Dictionary means a group of people living in the same place OR having a particular characteristic in common; a feeling of fellowship with others as a result of sharing common interest with others, attitudes and goals.

I’m actually not black myself but I grew up in black community. Predominate black schools, black friends, the list goes on. At any rate, Martin is just one of those shows that in most social circles when the show comes up all the nostalgia from various episodes spur tons of conversation and commonality. It brought people together. That would be what I mean as far as impact. Shaping black community, would be more so around the type of comedy from slap stick humor which is different from Martin than a Jim Carey, some raunchiness here and there but also a romance that was not depicted as much to America of how love can look in the black home. Silly and all. Even affected fashion today with its many colors on Jackets and denims as we see many throwback fashions reminiscent of the shows theme song which plays it’s way onto clothing with its deep greens, reds and yellow. Those who know know if that makes sense.

I think the the true value is seeing Martins versatility in how he could play so many different characters and bring them to life so well. Though it was the same actor (Martin) they all had their distinct roles and fit very well into their own individual personality and scenes from Shanaynay, to Jerome, to security guard Otis + many more. You would have to go through a whole season to see what I mean.

@ I would say that too from time to time, but now Im looking at things in a different way he's older meaning he has learned a lot he's more wiser and of course he's not going to have the energy of a 20-year-old. He's almost 60 I don't think people realize that. I think he did right by settling down a bit because I wouldn't want to see a 60-year-old still acting like he's in his twenties. I'm just glad to see that he's still alive and well and healthy and may God bless him the rest of his life.

Martin's daughter dating Eddie's son? Can you imagine what kind of disguise master their child would be if they had one? 😆 I mean Martin and Eddie are already the biggest disguise actors of our time. There should totally be a movie with the both of them in different disguises like in Martin or big mama's house or the clumps. I just think these two would be funny together in maybe a third nutty professor or something.

Two concussions overseas 7th grade trapped in the hospital for two weeks , then one day my mom brings me a DVD player and 3 seasons of Martin . Laughed through the pain the entire time good memories
We still watch Martin today like it was yesterday and laugh just as hard... awesome great legendary show cast and great group of people performers and comedians. Love🤣
