There was no one who could come close to the greats of The Nicholas Brothers Simply The Best they were, are and always will be in a league of their own. Rest in Peace Nicholas Brothers.
I was just sitting here laughing. They come out of a split into a standing position like its nothing and I have to push off the sofa or a table to get up to a standing position if I'm sitting on the floor 😅 The Nicholas Bros were amazing.
The Nicholas Brothers were incomparably fantastic and I love to watch them! In 1972, I saw Harold Nicholas singing "I Can't Get Started (With You)" in a saloon on the Sunset Strip. He wasn't appearing there professionally; he just stopped in as a customer. Much later, I found out that the song was from The Ziegfeld Follies of 1936, which starred Bob Hope and the Nicholas Brothers! In that show, Bob Hope sang the song. Bunny Berigan's recording of it was used on the "Chinatown" soundtrack.
I only just discovered the Nicholas Brothers , all I can say is WOW WOW WOW ! Not just their physical powers but they move beautifully, instant fan here!
the nicholas brothers are pure class i love watching them dance, they are truly a unique dance trio never to be forgotten, no one comes close to the out of this world acrobatics somersaults, splits, and foot movements these brothers had! i will allways be in awe of what they done and acheived.
@marianance Understand: Michael (a genius and a maverick in his own right) grew up watching and likely knowing at least one of the Nicholas Brothers. MJ was a relentless student of the great movie musicals and was born at a time when he could actually meet some of these great artists. It may not seem like it to the casual observer or to those who assess perhaps his later work, but MJ was for many, the bridge between this us and the likes of the Nicholas Brothers.
These two stars were soooo underrated during the reign of Fred Astaire and the like and they were astronomically more talented but back then that could not be allowed or tolerated
@thomasmoredamian I love how Mike respected them and admired them so much (Well he did that with everyone he admired as far as artistry and showmanship etc.)...I think he knew that they were greater than him....Even MJ had ppl who he looked up to...Jackie Wilson, James Brown, and even the great Nicholas Bros.
@@Swingguido Yes, but... There was the Cotton Club, Copacabana, etc. Heck, best concert I ever went to was at the Palladium in the day. No one supports the artists and halls. We had Claire le Luna in San Diego close a few years ago. They used to have an amazing live band and swing dancers that would come in. It has to have regular community, financial support because the artists and businesses can't starve to entertain you.
It's sad that Hollywood didn't more dancing from his former wife, Dorothy Dandridge, who was quite a dancer in her own right. I think she can be seen briefly in a soundie titled "Chatanooga..."
“Chattanooga Choo-Choo,” which was a hit for Glenn Miller and His Orchestra. It was played by them and sung and danced by the Nicholas Brothers and the gorgeous Dorothy Dandridge in a wow of a number from a film called “Sun Valley Serenade.” I believe Harold Nicholas was also married to Dorothy at one time.
@G1SpaceDoll Your're not kidding. Put me in a time capsule back to there an I'm a happy fella. BTW - anyone that thinks the way you do has excellent taste. Nice to see we're not alone in wishing.
these kids were child prodigies & just in their teens. by today standards they'd blow the michael jacksons & ushers of the world out of the water in DANCING & entertainment.
Except for one of them being so arrogant, their dancing matches all the greatest dancers of all time. Fred Astaire says they were way better than he was!
This movie was made at request of WW2 State Dept. to foster FDR "Good Neighbor Policy". Ironic that during WW2 Argentina was very pro Axis. To add insult to injury, this film had a special tab for theater owners in the deep south to remove this part of the movie thinking southern audiences wouldn't care to see "nigras" stealing the entire film with their superb talent. Had they been in "tatters & rags" it may have been acceptable to southern theater patrons but the Nicholas Bros. were a class act that wouldn't do the "mammy schtick" so many talented acts of color had to put up with. In addition, the Nicholas Bros. didnt' work LasVegas for similar reasons. This entire movie was to promote a country with leadership that favoured the Nazi's and had a section easily edited so southern whites wouldn't be offended. Ironic, this movie was even exhibited; without the Nicholas Bros. this poorly made film would have lost even more at the box office than it did.
We can trace back a lot of our musical talent and connect the dots how other Black cultural Jon Reyes came from them yet we have people from other cultures and places claiming our own culture as their own? We need to gatekeep our intellectual property from these parasites who think their proximity among us means they're not guess? IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW AND IF YOU DON'T PLEASE GET INFORMED THESE PEOPLE ARE LIKE THE REAL LIKE "US MOVIE?" WE ARE OFTEN IMITATED NEVER DUPLICATED. One love!!!
Thank God some of their dancing is on film...in those days they were not given the same exposure as Fred and Kelly were.....I'm certain we are missing so many routines that were done on stage .
It's not just the moves...it's the suave class and seeming effortlessness. Harold and Fayard were American Originals, never to be duplicated.
There was no one who could come close to the greats of The Nicholas Brothers
Simply The Best they were, are and always will be in a league of their own.
Rest in Peace Nicholas Brothers.
Fayard jumps over ....a pocket scarf.
Forward and reverse.
Are you kidding me?!
I was just sitting here laughing. They come out of a split into a standing position like its nothing and I have to push off the sofa or a table to get up to a standing position if I'm sitting on the floor 😅
The Nicholas Bros were amazing.
I know the feeling.😢
The greatest dancers of all time
These fleshly were so classy, elegant and sophisticated in a total class of their own forever. R.I.P
The best ever!!!!! No one will ever come close to the talent these two had!!!!👑👑
But the Barry brothers, you're pretty right though
@Albert Santos Michael Jackson was great, but never do what this guys can do, not even close.
The. Nicholas Brothers were absolutely fantastic. Their style and boundless energy was absolutely the best dancing.
The best ever Nicholas Brothers ! Merci beaucoup from Paris France.
The BEST That Ever Did It!!!!
7 times the audience applauded before they finished their dance number! Truly amazing dancing!
The very best ever dancers in the world! Thanks ever from Paris France
Amazing dancing, it’s jaw dropping. 😲

The badass godfathers of tap! 😎
I only just discovered the Nicholas Brothers , all I can say is WOW WOW WOW ! Not just their physical powers but they move beautifully, instant fan here!
Gotta love their endings!
The Nicholas Brothers, always excellent, personable, and entertaining.
Fred Astaire called them the greatest tap dancers ever! Enough said!
The best part of their story is that they are self taught. Fayard taught himself to sing and dance then he taught his siblings.
the nicholas brothers are pure class i love watching them dance, they are truly a unique dance trio never to be forgotten, no one comes close to the out of this world acrobatics somersaults, splits, and foot movements these brothers had! i will allways be in awe of what they done and acheived.
They were a dance dual, not trio.
2:59 Somersault and Leg Split!!!
No one can compare to how great they were!
Absolutely awesome and amazing! I live watching these beautiful movies clips. I'd love to see the entire movie.
~Sigh!~ I can't stop smiling.
The best dancers I have ever seen!

The joys of racism in mid 20th century
That just sucks all you must do is watch them, they are beyond a doubt, the best.
Awesome!!
Excellent, way ahead of their time
Spectacular greatness.

Yea
why can't they make clubs like these nowadays??
windstorm1000 there are some crappy ones I Vegas .but I couldn't go to the old clubs. Too much cigarette smoke. Can't breathe if their ain't no air.
Don`t be so naive, it`s a Hollywood movie. Even the socks of the audience were chosen in the right color ....

big ups 2 them for dancing so well, taps are very slippery....
I don't believe they had taps on their shoes
Sublime,!
THE BROTHA ON THE LEFT HAS TO BE RELATED TO LUPE FIASCO! NO QUESTION ABOUT IT!
DOUBLE TROUBLE! NO, MICHAEL: YOU ARE NOT THE UNDISPUTED KING OF DANCE...THESE TWO DEMONS BEAT YOU HANDS (FEET?) DOWN!
@ThomasMurphy55 ...I second emotion!!!

I was not aware of the backstory of this movie. Wish that I could say that it was a surprise.
South has mot changed much since then

Another American treasure.
They were omitted from the opening credits of the movie.
