Newman at 2:16 does one of THE BEST bits of 1930s gag-acting you will ever see:
- Taking the shot
- Crossing eyes as he chokes it down
- Smacking the counter like a 1940s cartoon wolf would stomp its foot and wolf-whistle
- Snapping back to reality like none of it ever happened
Really reminded me of Abbot and Costello.
He is a very funny man and that scene is so funny. "vile weed" cracks me up every time I see it. I even call my two German Shepherds vile beasts after it. My dogs know I am joking. Lol.

Those reactions are a take-off on Red Skelton's "Guzzler's Gin" sketch where he plays an actor doing a TV commercial for "the finest spirit you can buy". After taking a shot of the rotgut, he launches into all those antics and then some before finally regaining his composure. He then looks directly into the camera and says....
......."Smooth".
Newman was one of the best supporting actors on that show.

Kramer and Newman could easily have their own show together.
So, the writers started writing more episodes of them doing antics together and kramer fought against it, said he wanted to be his own character in the show and not 1 half of a slapstick team, so the stopped, but yea it would have been great. Also there is only 1 episode written without george, and he said if you do that again I quit, and they never did
Every minute of these shows is fun

While Kramer is living there, Newman also gets to enjoy Jerry's apartment which has a nicer view than Newmans and is also cleaner and better-furnished.

I love the different terms the writers have to describe the neon sign: "chicken supernova", "the red menace", "that giant red sun in the shape of a chicken". Also Kramer on his knees pleading like a heroin addict when Jerry threatens to put the banner back up. So funny and clever.

the whole scene is peak comedy for the show and Michael Richard's talent. Everything he's doing is a little nervous and 'off' for Kramer behavior because Jerry showed up unexpectedly and may discover his Roger's addiction. Laughing at his Newman joke, flipping through a magazine while not even looking at it, trying to get him to leave, then looking over the wrong shoulder just before being surprised and confronted. And of course his final desperate outburst.
