Great episode guys, keep up the good work, ur by far the best channel on TH-cam!!! As for gas or electric power plants u have to weigh the pro's an con's for the type of flying u want to do and how deep ur pockets are... Gas as we all know longer flight times cheap to run, cons oil residue everywhere an can be problematic running... Electric pros quick to get flying, quite running clean, cons quality electric running gear is not cheap nor are descent battery's an charge equipment,
Lets just leave those real toys to the adults. I've had two electric guys attempt to amputate their fingers in my .65 nitro's prop just this year! Lucky for them it was at idle both times. Still, wasn't pretty! I just don't think its a hobby for your typical dumbass that is catered too on FT
I have been flying "WET" starting in 1959. .049 C/L plastic then balsa Flat, then to build-up Balsa. A couple of .35 powered C/L planes. 1976 first Radio, been flying R/C since then. 1/2A 2 channels, powered with .049 engines. Yank and bank flying at it's best. 1/12th Scale P-51 25 BB, and a couple of 60 in WS planes with .46 BB in them. Finally a 48x36 Blended Lifting Body powered with a .25 BB. I really like the power, flight time, and the sound of the engine running. Weight saving too with out the Batteries.
hmmm one of my current projects is elec to Gas lol I would love a Gas engine that generated elec as well I used to always skip your intro, funny now I listen to it feels comforting hhaha
I love the smell of gas and glow planes. I started flying electric but since I have bought my first glow plane it´s not the same anymore (3 weeks later I started to build the next one). I love the sound and the way it flies much better. For me electric will never be the same again :D
negative ghost rider, it was made as a nitro kit a long time ago, before it was an ARF and before it was electric. Mine is built with a glue older than CA, the kind you had to wait for. It it very old and I have a few videos of it flying. Ran it into a street sign already and repaired the wing, it's lots of fun.
Josh Bixler, Is the P-47 your favorite warbird? You seem to talk them up to be really nice flying planes. It is personally my favorite, but I like all of the warbirds out there except the spitfire.
How about comparing performance in cold, hot weather and flight times. Lipos dont like the cold. I only flew electric so far. considering gas for winter.
Hey, Could you make a review of the HobbyKing Atom Mini Glider. You could make a challenge with that plane or one of your choice: 50km/h under 50 bucks.
@hondacota4rt yea, that doesnt really answer my question, what do we do if we do need to cool the battery, would have being good to cover all scenarios for us so we know what to do, just cause it was ok for them ?
Nice plane. You spoke a lot about vent holes in the cowling for cooling the motor and ESC, but I couldn't tell from the video if you had air exit holes. It's all very well to have air entry, but if the air can not flow through it, ventilation will not work efficiently. You may even be compressing air in the cowling? But - if you did put exit vents - then maybe you should explain this to others viewing you video please.
It would be helpful to us Neanderthal nitro guys if you can explain the needful things switching to electric, like EPS etc. some of us don't know the acronyms. thanks
if your thinking of going electric from glow, do some homework, but a watt meter, and most of all find a person who knows how to do this. You can very easily destroy a valuable plane if you do it wrong or if you dont get it just right you can have very short flight times and poor performance. Like I said, do your homework and get some help. Josh/Josh- good video and a sweet plane, it just wouldnt hurt to accurately convey how much goes into an electric conversion.
I would change mine to electric in a heartbeat however it seems almost impossible to figure out what and how. The pain of getting all the kit ready and the thing running keeps me grounded most of the time now. Too little time. I really wish someone would sell a gas to electric conversion kit, Complete. Almost all my crashes have been due to engine flame out, Unless your are flying daily the glow motors are just too temperamental. Last flights with my ultimate Biplane with a Super Tigre 90 have all ended with engine quitting. and a wrecked aircraft.
Hi guys nice vid! Question here ! Im converting my hangar 9 p51 mustang to electric i have a turnigy power60 500kv any idea on the motor mount i can use ?
Great conversion. What do you think about converting a mustang? I mention it because the flight characteristics are great if the plane is perfectly balanced...I think the mustang would be hard to get the right weight with the "GOGTEC" considering it needs to be soooooooo nose heavy. Can i make an unofficial request to make a GOGTEC p51D Mustang? Thanks, and great job!
I picked up a SIGG senorita at a swap meet for 15 bucks, put a .40 size brushless replacement in there from grayson hobby and the thing flies like a bat out of hell and floats like a glider, I really want to put my FPV gear in it, so much fun...
I have a 40 and a 60 size p51 that I want to do this to but I want the hatch on top because I want the battery to be horizontal not vertical. Not really sure how to accomplish that. Both planes are beautiful so I really don't want to screw them up.
If you take some tabs and soder and aaa batteries and soder your own battery pack you can plug it into you reciever and now you have a backup if you wax explodes or fails.
@wtmcgehee You may not notice this with small park fliers but when you get into larger 60 size and plus you will notice the decrees in speed/power through-out the flight
and please oh please do a real gas to elec conversion. The turnigy aerodrives can be = to a 26cc to over 50cc. That would be amazing to see. Thanks again
@sterby1 lol yeah I don't ever want to fly a spitfire, there are so many stories of bad bad characteristics causing a crash. I don't want to crash my expensive planes, and I like the bigger warbirds which are a little more expensive than most other planes out there. I think I want to buy a Stuka this summer.
@Bolle90 60 glow engines actually weigh in the range of 700 grams. Let's do some math and see what the reality is... Fuel Weight = 200 grams, Engine = 700 grams, Total = 900 grams at full capacity. Electric Power 60 motor = 380 grams, 5000mah 6S Battery = 800 grams, Total = 1,180 grams at all capacities. Seems like electric power is 30-40% heavier than glow power, depending on the fuel left in the tank.
I primarily fly electric but I have to disagree with the consistency of electrics vs nitro, "not gas" that you talk about towards the end. I will use your p-47 as an example. The power 60 is a 400kv motor. For every one volt applied to the power 60 it will achieve 400 rpms. The six cell battery fully charged is 25.2 volts so the motor not under load will achieve 10080 rpm. Around mid flight, your battery pack will probably be around around 21 volts giving you 8400rpms.
You should've sold the gaser on ebay and use the money to buy an electric. Would have made someone who loves the smell of gasoline/nitromethane happy :)
gas to electric????? Miss lable of the title. should read nitro to electric conversion. Since when was nitro and gas the same or even similar fueled engines. Love most of what you do, usually very informative info... I think... Hmm if ur incorrect on this title I have to wonder what else im being misinformed on. Hmmm.... Thanks for your work all the same.
They want to make it scale well damn put on the right prop if it's a p-47 or p-51 it better have a four blade prop if it's something that big with the micros it's a little more understandable
One of the few youtube intros I watch through in these classics
Josh makes a great straight man.
Just so happens I started elec conversion on my 49 year old airomaster last night.
I prefer Josh
You guys crack me up... by far my favorite TH-cam channel. I always look forward to your episodes!
Love converting my dads old gas or glow planes to electric. Great vid!
Great episode guys, keep up the good work, ur by far the best channel on TH-cam!!!

We need more nitro + gas planes on Flite Test...
amen!
This show makes me happy. Good stuff guys. Keep them coming!
Good stuff, and back before the BIG DIRT PILE!
"why don't we expose our motor"
Josh Scott......*awkward face*
hahahah priceless
Great video on the Thunderbolt conversion.
Is is possible to convert the Black Horse HAWKER HURRICANE 55cc with 2.21m wingspan model to electric?
Really enjoy your videos. I'm new at these rc planes. So thanks for all the info. You guys make it interesting to watch. keep up the good work.

9:50 josh scotts reaction priceless
Great video as usual! Keep up the good work guys!
Did you hardly show the p47 on purpose? What did you set down on the ground before take off?
Cool plane back at the work bench though!
I vote for electric. I do like the sound of fueled planes. Josh, I think you could fly anything! I liked the no nonsense video...
Downside to it being quiet, is it's quiet, there's no sound, where's the fun in that?
Great, informative video! Thanks for posting! Which motor mount are you using in that Hangar 9 P-47 60 size?
I love the smell of gas and glow planes. I started flying electric but since I have bought my first glow plane it´s not the same anymore (3 weeks later I started to build the next one). I love the sound and the way it flies much better. For me electric will never be the same again :D
Thats not true that gas fly better than eléctric, more real may be, for many reasons eléctrics fly much better
You guys have you ever thought of do it the A10 with edf
negative ghost rider, it was made as a nitro kit a long time ago, before it was an ARF and before it was electric. Mine is built with a glue older than CA, the kind you had to wait for. Turbine is the ultimate, great sound and no mess :P
Thanks for this vid. Helped me out a lot with some of my consernes of switching to electric
Very Cool!!! How about making a video on adding scale SOUNDS to it? Starting sound, engine sounds, etc..
could you please make a video on how to properly trace plans?
could yall tell us about the battery placement like where to glue the cushen foam and how u did the battery hatch?
Josh Bixler, Is the P-47 your favorite warbird? You seem to talk them up to be really nice flying planes. It is personally my favorite, but I like all of the warbirds out there except the spitfire.
Did you put a 60 or a 80 esc at one point i think you said 80amp at 2:51??
How about comparing performance in cold, hot weather and flight times. Lipos dont like the cold. I only flew electric so far. considering gas for winter.
"You don't want people laughing at you.'' LOL. Priceless
Loved it!! you guys sell these planes?? I'm not really a builder.
@Bolle90 That's why you buy your batteries from Hobbyking where they are 1/4 the price.
Hey,
Could you make a review of the HobbyKing Atom Mini Glider. You could make a challenge with that plane or one of your choice: 50km/h under 50 bucks.
no redundancy if you lose esc?
what motor mount are they using for that power 60?
@hondacota4rt yea, that doesnt really answer my question, what do we do if we do need to cool the battery, would have being good to cover all scenarios for us so we know what to do, just cause it was ok for them ?
such a quiet plane!
Nice plane. You spoke a lot about vent holes in the cowling for cooling the motor and ESC, but I couldn't tell from the video if you had air exit holes. waba wabawoommm YOU ARE MY HERO . You 2 Joshua.
I love the smell of nitro in the morning.
what motor mount was used for the off-set?
It would be helpful to us Neanderthal nitro guys if you can explain the needful things switching to electric, like EPS etc. some of us don't know the acronyms. thanks

good to know you have your watching and listening skills.

Hi guys nice vid! Question here ! Im converting my hangar 9 p51 mustang to electric i have a turnigy power60 500kv any idea on the motor mount i can use ?
When josh B said that he went from glow to electric I cried slightly.
Me too:(
You can tell he didn`t have his vvvrrrvvvaboom tweeked very good. heheheh remember to GOGTEC .The acronym for the day. hahaha Great stuff guys.
What plane is that? From horizon hobby??
Great conversion. What do you think about converting a mustang? I mention it because the flight characteristics are great if the plane is perfectly balanced...I think the mustang would be hard to get the right weight with the "GOGTEC" considering it needs to be soooooooo nose heavy. Can i make an unofficial request to make a GOGTEC p51D Mustang? Thanks, and great job!
whats the weight difference?
Look at josh at the right when josh left is making the engine sounds :D
I picked up a SIGG senorita at a swap meet for 15 bucks, put a .40 size brushless replacement in there from grayson hobby and the thing flies like a bat out of hell and floats like a glider, I really want to put my FPV gear in it, so much fun...

would this also work with cp helis?
I'm working on a GOGTEC plane as we speak it's a great planes combat corsair 1/12 size. perfect timing guys. love that plane she's a sweet beast.
Where I bought these glasses ?? Nice video ??
Gas sounds better than eletric.
u guys should review an electric 3Dhs 71 inch slick
whats the difference between gas and glow?
If you take some tabs and soder and aaa batteries and soder your own battery pack you can plug it into you reciever and now you have a backup if you wax explodes or fails.
Joshua would know all about people laughing at him wouldn't he! : )
Nothin smells better than burning nitro fuel.
Or sounds better
Trained Noob
Well, some of those large scale straight gassers did sound pretty sexy. Man the 90s feel a long time ago.
Preach it brother!!!!
you got some good points there but i like gas and that was funny
@inciteman You missed the sound effects at 9;50. lol
nice video
Why is this age restricted?
Nice!
Could you guys do a gas vs electric
Lol gogtec Good one guys. Been contemplating this with my corsair. Thanks! :-)
@wtmcgehee You may not notice this with small park fliers but when you get into larger 60 size and plus you will notice the decrees in speed/power through-out the flight
Yeah it's quiet but when you lose track of your plane that noisy gas/nitro engine will help you find it!
and please oh please do a real gas to elec conversion. The turnigy aerodrives can be = to a 26cc to over 50cc. That would be amazing to see.
Thanks again
This intro is too good
how come the batteries didnt need cooling ??
We love balsa!
@sterby1 lol yeah I don't ever want to fly a spitfire, there are so many stories of bad bad characteristics causing a crash. I don't want to crash my expensive planes, and I like the bigger warbirds which are a little more expensive than most other planes out there. I think I want to buy a Stuka this summer.
yes one thing how long does a electric last 20 mins.... 120 dollars a battery....
haha josh said we don't do gas here do we.. then gosh says, not yet. and today they finally showed gas=D
That's 6 gallons of glow fuel. The battery and fuel will probably last the same amount of time. Right?
@Bolle90 60 glow engines actually weigh in the range of 700 grams. Let's do some math and see what the reality is... Fuel Weight = 200 grams, Engine = 700 grams, Total = 900 grams at full capacity. I can't believe they had this second Josh on the channel for so long. Literaly only adds immature jokes and says ok
450 heli on the TV! Planes are cool, but helicopters need the flite test treatment!
This episode was very gogtecy
Converting my 40+ year old fuel soaked planes to electric. Works great!
Clean and cheep..................p
U-bec for esc failure and still have control. 😀🇳🇱
@thechoosendude Well it's not lame if you're not rich. And, if you usually don't have much time to maintain it. And, electric is more efficient.
how about a conversion tutorial?
Josh & Josh The Laural and Hardy of model aviation
i think you spelt electric wrong in the description ;)
@7jsm7 My messer agrees with you especially on the spitfire
I primarily fly electric but I have to disagree with the consistency of electrics vs nitro, "not gas" that you talk about towards the end. I will use your p-47 as an example. I actually had a gas or glow plane for my 3rd plane
You should've sold the gaser on ebay and use the money to buy an electric. Would have made someone who loves the smell of gasoline/nitromethane happy :)
Please make a p47 swappable
@shelby02403 But this is a Horizon Hobby sponsored video, so they have to use electronics made by Horizon.

Do more "GAS" plane revews
