Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this!! My heart is broken, like so many others. I'm 63 yrs old and I first heard Loretta as a kid, in Dad's car. My Dad is 90 now and we both still play Loretta in our cars :)
I'm 62 in 7 days. Started listening to Loretta when we came back from Spain in 66. Certainly one of the best ever and the true Queen of Country Music

That she picked up the phone and called is amazing. These older stars of Country music look after the younger ones. They encourage them tenderly because they have all gone through tough times in the business. They don’t sniffle on stage about how how they’ve been mistreated. They pick up a phone or write note of encouragement. And this! This will feed the heart of a young woman performer for many decades. This was freely given and priceless to hold.

I am just a retired laborer in the Midwest, but my parents raised me on country music of the 60's. For the last 2 weeks I have had Fist City stuck in my head and been singing it around the house, while driving my high-school kid around etc. Last week I watched an hour long TH-cam video on Loretta's life and sang along the whole way. That nite I said to myself that it would be a sad day when Loretta left us. When my husband told me on Tuesday that she had, I said, you're kidding me ?! I swear, it's like maybe her spirit was pouring out to those who loved her. Idk how to explain it, but it doesn't feel like a coincidence to me. I often listened to her and would think how awesome she was and how much I loved her for many reason's. Like Carly sings, I ain't a coal miners daughter, but my mom was. Thank you, Loretta. You gave me countless hours of joy that will continue on this earth forever.
