I would say this animation is too violent and scary for children to watch but...children under the Taliban experienced this...that’s why this movie made me cry so much. It’s an extraordinarily beautiful creation.

One scene that I think isn't talked about a lot is when Idress was chasing Parvana and Shauzia and threatening them with a gun. When he accidentally fired it and hears the silent he has a moment of realization that he just killed two children which shouldn't be surprising for him but it is
Idrees looks to be like he is a young adult. Going into war and he is all talk about how he will fight for Islam and is so quick to talk about how he is ready for war when in reality he realizes he isn't at all. He realizes that he just took the lives of two kids (granted the girls didn't get shot but from his perspective he thinks they did). This humanizes his character a lot

The scene that stays with me is when Parvana is in the market as Sulayman and sells a dress to a man who has a young woman with him. Parvana supposes that she is his daughter but the man says she is his wife. Even though he's easily old enough for her to be his daughter or even granddaughter

A bit late but same too. I watched this movie when i was like 9?(can't remember the exact time) and it was traumatizing. For the context, i was a very sheltered child. The closest thing I've watched that's considered "scary" was a fight scene from a movie i can't even remember the name of. So imagine my surprise when the scene where a man literally beats up the mother showed up. I was shocked and didn’t know what to feel. At first i thought the movie was sort of boring and slow paced but it just kept getting better and better. Although the movie was incredible my kid brain was too shocked and found the movie disturbing and never watched it again.

If you are a worse person than this girl, for example, and have a better life than her, then it's your fault too she has it worse. By not suffering enough yourself you're making others suffer in your place. So we are all responsible for that and should feel guilty
