Nice, calm analysis of the Givenchy Prisme Libre powder. It takes time and money to find a staple like this powder, and it will take time and money to find a replacement for it. It sounds like the backlash isn't about the new powder being inferior, it's more that Givenchy is pretending that this is an improved substitute. It's actually a different type of powder, serving a different function. They should've just released the new powder with a new name and packaging.
I just wanted to thank you, Lexi, for always showing us the blush shades *so thoroughly* swatched out -- on your arm & your face!! It's really awesome to see the shades at fullest opacity but also blended out, layered and true to tone (on you, obviously!)!! soooo few people actually do this in their cheek swatches, and I find it just doesn't help unless the product is shown built up, especially on the face, to see the truest, clearest color. Specifically important because really no brands provide actual *swatches* or photographs on product pages. You are such a fantastic resource, a color & texture encyclopedia -- true Swatch Queen

Which one do you like more the Prada or The Tom Ford ? I know you will make a separate video ranking all the new released powders but the Tom Ford one is now on sale at Macys if it’s the one that you prefer over the other then it’s the best time to purchase it ! I am going to test a few more powders and then do a powder video so hopefully that will help. Right now, I'd say the Koh Gen Do which is also on sale at Macy's (but will probably be a better deal next weekend at KGD but only if you are buying something else as well to get free shipping from them). Between Prada and TF, it depends on the finish - the Prada is more matte and the TF is a satin matte but both are great formulas.
I am still just baffled they changed the formula of the powder with literally a cult following I think they should have kept the old and maybe just added the new formula under a talc free formula so people can choose. The lipstick is beautiful but I don't think u mentioned if it has the strong perfume flower scent and taste . I have 1 of the liquid blushes in my cart the nude one but I saw someone compare it to Rare beauty virtue and it is pretty much the same color just not as deep looking. I have my eyes on the domed blush brush I like that one I just don't think I would get as much use out of the other 2 . Great review as always Lexi .
I saw a comment on a post on Reddit discussing the new formula by someone who claims to be working in insurance. Companies are moving away from talc because there's an increasing insurance practice where claims based on/relating to talc-based formulas are being excluded from the policy. So to avoid having to pull out cash from their own pockets, based on the risk, companies prefer to not use it anymore altogether.
Fragrance is the last ingredient on the lipsticks and I actually don't really notice it. But the Valentino Rosso ones don't bother me at all so if those are too strong for you, these might be also. The domed blush brush is awesome!!

Hi Lexi! Congrats on receiving the new SG set of brushes in PR. I can see myself using the TF2 and TF3. (I use micellar water to clean my natural hair brushes because it’s eye safe so more gentle than alcohol-based brush cleaners - it rinses off easily and leaves no residue.) Thank you for comparing the old and new Givenchy powders. From what I see on my screen, the shine of the new powder enhances texture so it’s more of a finishing powder now. The new YSL blushes are very tempting - they’re “not available yet” in Canada but I look forward to trying them the shades in person when they get here. The Valentino mattes have not showed up on Sephora Canada yet 😢. Thanks again and have a great day!

Hi Lexi - I wanted to add that the main “chemical” difference between talc and kaolin is this: Talc is water-repelling whereas kaolin is water-absorbing. It means that: if I start sweating after applying the original Prisme Libre powder, I can see little water droplets forming ON TOP of the powder - so my makeup stays in place; BUT with the new Prisme Libre powder, as soon as I start to sweat, the powder absorbs my sweat and my makeup starts to separate - making a mess of my concealer.

It's hard to choose - but that RED FIESTA, OMG, HOLA!. 💌Great to see Valentino with lust worthy packaging. The YSL lilac liquid blush, could be an ice-maiden look(?) even by itself. I've 3 tons of makeup to use up so no more blush (or eyeshadow) allowed,, but one (almost neutral) RED lipstick in such a lovely case- - and perhaps a vibrant colour mascara and I think I'll be ready for AW.

😮Ooohhhh THAT ORANGE 😍it's the prettiest juicy bright orange. It's rare to get an orange like that wo too much red, brown or yellow in it. It has enough white in it to apply true to color to your face instead of being changed by your undertone.

I got the new givenchy powder in 03 voile rose and I absolutely hated it. Like you said it didn’t blur at all, in fact it highlighted texture I didn’t even know I had. It went right back to Sephora. When I was returning the cashier said “yeah nobody likes the reformulation” 😑😑😑😑😑
Thanks for doing reviews on Two products I wanted to see. Spike a Pose would be my favorite lipstick as well. I may try that. The blushes are beautiful, but there are so many new blushes out right now, my head is spinning. I think I'll wait for a leak of the new Hourglass holiday, 6-pan palettes before I buy another blush. I use the ones I have more than anything, so want to see. Hourglass has the occasional bad year, but it's worth the wait. Not related to this video, but did you order the Natasha Denona warm palette? Spike a pose is so pretty and it works beautifully sheered out too. I passed on the ND palette. I think it looks beautiful but I know I won't really use the warm tones enough.
@@LexiJong I'm thinking that, like the Golden palette, there are only a couple of looks you could get from each palette. Not as great as they would appear. In fact, every look I get from INAN looks identical, unless I use the terracotta shade, which I tend to skip. And, if I'd had Stora Dolls at the time, I could have skipped that too. I've seen this warm palette on 5 people at least and it looks the same on every one of them, no matter skin or hair color. She may sell more by being "safer", but not to me.

I just watched Nikki LaRose's video on the Givenchy powder, and she had mentioned that 3 of the new formula have added shimmer - shades 00, 02, and 03; the new formula of 01, 04, 05, and 06 don't have additional shimmer. If that's the case, I can understand why you didn't notice as much of a highlighter effect as so many others who are primarily getting 03 or 02. Regardless, it's a shame they messed with a good thing. I'm seeing a lot of people saying they returned their new powder and that Sephora employees are seeing a huge uptick in returns; hopefully that data is going back to Givenchy. I doubt we'll get the original back though at this point. Also, Angela at French for a Day has said that the Blanc Divine shade (white lid) still has talc and is most similar to the original formulation.
How would u compare 100r Valentino blush to YSL 37 I’m trying g to get a more browny nude (like I have to put bronzer down on top or under makes it perfect) I think YSL is kinda bright compared to the swatch u did I haven’t seen that shade where’d u get it at?
Are you referring to the liquirosso in 100R? I bought that at Nordstrom a few months ago. The 100R is a very soft nude pink but the 37 from YSL looks more like what you are asking about. I bought mine at Sephora but it's at several retailers.
I'm waiting on my order for the SG T3 brush & I knew by the shape it would be very versatile. I have a small round face & as much as I love the idea of using a big fluffy brush ,& I have a few, they're just not practical for me & I gravitate towards using smaller brushes. I want the YSL lavender blush when it arrives in Australia to use as a mixing shade to lighten & cool down some warmer blushes. I'm not interested in the reformulated Givenchy powder as it seems like a finishing powder & I have plenty of those.
Hi Lexi, is this new formula similar to the 2022 holiday release, the one with the puffy silver box top, lumiere polaire I believe it was called. That version was described as a ‘luminous matte’ and it was quite nice.
I'm curious but I don't know if I want to get it. But I actually like non-mattifying powders. I don't like powders that alter the finish and/or texture of my base too much. I prefer them to be invisible but do set my face.
Very different as the valentino is a true lipstick so it creates a bit of a stronger stain as there is more pigmentation. The AT balms are a softer finish and they leave a soft stain but overall are more of a balm than a lipstick.
I understand the demand for talc-free products, but they should do as Laura Mercier, which is to keep both versions. It's wrong to take away something we all loved!! This seems to have a radiance like the Hourglass powders, which are beautiful on occasion, but I do NOT want that on a daily basis! Grrr. I know it's just powder but it makes me so mad that that they take away a good thing. 😠 TYSM for the YSL/Armani blush comparisons. I think I would prefer the more matte finish of the YSL but Armani's shades are so much better. Thanks also for putting the Valentino on my radar. Great job on everything!

Oohhh that YSL liquid blush in the Fuchsia is so pretty! But the Peachy Nude and Berry Bang are the ones for me going into fall! I’m so excited for the Valentino lipsticks. The case is gorgeous, too! They all look great on you. Spike a Pose and It’s Valentino Baby are my favorites!
I am literally horrified about the Prisme Libre powder reformulation and I will have to find a substitute somehow. The Sisley powder is quite nice, but still not as good at the classic Prisme Libre powder. I guess I am going to have to pay up for the La Prairie powder if they have a shade match for me.

I'm so sorry! Mine doesn't have any glitter in it but some of the limited edition shades I"ve had in the past have glitter and I really wish they wouldn't put it in face powder.
I actually abhor synthetic fluorphlogopite. I know it’s not technically glitter, but it behaves identically, in my opinion. I hate having anything that shoots out iridescent micro flecks on. I have wasted good money on products that say they’re glitter free, and the. Have this as their first ingredient and I always hate it on my face. And i realize how psycho I sound having such a strong opinion on that, haha! I think it looks gorgeous indoors, I just hate it in outdoor lighting.
Hi Lexi, I did order the TF2 Sonia G brush - will be great for powder blush application. I did pick up a mini version of the Givenchy Prisme Libre powder for under eye application. The fact that it’s a bit shiny is not a huge issue for me, as it isn’t bad for me to add light reflection under my senior eyes. Thanks, as always, for a great review!
I AM SO ANGRY AT GIVENCHY. THEY RUINED MY POWDER. I am shade 2 and the new formula Sucks. It’s shiney. Only shades 1&4 seem to be the old matte like. Not mine. I returned it. It’s So shiny YUK I think they put in description matte but then it said luminous matte. I don’t care it’s sad and an uproar. It’s like they don’t care about mature skin and texture. 👎🏻. Edit. I have been saying the luxury companies are gearing towards the more younger crowd. Pops of color, etc
I tried a liquid blush and I found it very difficult to put on: it either disappeared or it was too OTT on me. I think that liquid blush is just Today's Trendy Item and will be forgotten Tomorrow.
Liquid blushes can really be hit or miss and the skin type makes a huge difference on longevity. Powders are way more versatile for most people I think.
I fail to understand the mania behind removing talc, which has been used for centuries in face powders, and thus the ruination of GOLD STANDARD products. Corn starch, fluoroglosphite or whatever, and mica are not the same. Givenchy had a cult following with Prisme Libre and I'm sad I didn't get a back up last year. There are other powders that are hanging on to their talc, like Huda Beauty, which is excellent. I may be hoarding a few so I've got enough powder for a decade until the tide shifts and they come back to talc. ****le sigh*** nothing is forever!

I got the new givenchy powder in 03 voile rose and I absolutely hated it. Like you said it didn’t blur at all, in fact it highlighted texture I didn’t even know I had. It went right back to Sephora. When I was returning the cashier said “yeah nobody likes the reformulation” 😑😑😑😑😑
It's not great! I think the deeper shades like 3 are probably even shinier than the shade I bought.
Thanks for doing reviews on Two products I wanted to see. Spike a Pose would be my favorite lipstick as well. I may try that. The blushes are beautiful, but there are so many new blushes out right now, my head is spinning. I think I'll wait for a leak of the new Hourglass holiday, 6-pan palettes before I buy another blush. I use the ones I have more than anything, so want to see. Hourglass has the occasional bad year, but it's worth the wait. Not related to this video, but did you order the Natasha Denona warm palette? I was blindsided by that color story and just don't know. I really hope you review it. You will do the best job of anyone. Thanks and Happy Friday!💚
Spike a pose is so pretty and it works beautifully sheered out too. I passed on the ND palette. I think it looks beautiful but I know I won't really use the warm tones enough.
@@LexiJong I'm thinking that, like the Golden palette, there are only a couple of looks you could get from each palette. Not as great as they would appear. In fact, every look I get from INAN looks identical, unless I use the terracotta shade, which I tend to skip. And, if I'd had Stora Dolls at the time, I could have skipped that too. I've seen this warm palette on 5 people at least and it looks the same on every one of them, no matter skin or hair color. She may sell more by being "safer", but not to me.

Honestly, the shade range is close enough that you don't really need to add any others but the peachy nude may be different enough to include.

I just watched Nikki LaRose's video on the Givenchy powder, and she had mentioned that 3 of the new formula have added shimmer - shades 00, 02, and 03; the new formula of 01, 04, 05, and 06 don't have additional shimmer. If that's the case, I can understand why you didn't notice as much of a highlighter effect as so many others who are primarily getting 03 or 02. Regardless, it's a shame they messed with a good thing. I'm seeing a lot of people saying they returned their new powder and that Sephora employees are seeing a huge uptick in returns; hopefully that data is going back to Givenchy. I doubt we'll get the original back though at this point. Also, Angela at French for a Day has said that the Blanc Divine shade (white lid) still has talc and is most similar to the original formulation.

How would u compare 100r Valentino blush to YSL 37 I’m trying g to get a more browny nude (like I have to put bronzer down on top or under makes it perfect) I think YSL is kinda bright compared to the swatch u did I haven’t seen that shade where’d u get it at?
Are you referring to the liquirosso in 100R? I bought that at Nordstrom a few months ago. The 100R is a very soft nude pink but the 37 from YSL looks more like what you are asking about. I bought mine at Sephora but it's at several retailers.
I'm waiting on my order for the SG T3 brush & I knew by the shape it would be very versatile. I have a small round face & as much as I love the idea of using a big fluffy brush ,& I have a few, they're just not practical for me & I gravitate towards using smaller brushes. I want the YSL lavender blush when it arrives in Australia to use as a mixing shade to lighten & cool down some warmer blushes. I'm not interested in the reformulated Givenchy powder as it seems like a finishing powder & I have plenty of those.

Hi Lexi, is this new formula similar to the 2022 holiday release, the one with the puffy silver box top, lumiere polaire I believe it was called. That version was described as a ‘luminous matte’ and it was quite nice.
No unfortunately this is not the same. The Lumiere Polaire is better.
The powder looks less blurring and perfecting. And it's definitely not taking away shine 😅I wonder how anyone w oily or combination skin feels.
I'm curious but I don't know if I want to get it. But I actually like non-mattifying powders. I don't like powders that alter the finish and/or texture of my base too much. I prefer them to be invisible but do set my face.
It's a real shame.
You might prefer the new Tom Ford...

Very different as the valentino is a true lipstick so it creates a bit of a stronger stain as there is more pigmentation. The AT balms are a softer finish and they leave a soft stain but overall are more of a balm than a lipstick.
Lexi, please review the new Dolly lipsticks when they come out other than the price point she is all luxury ❤

I understand the demand for talc-free products, but they should do as Laura Mercier, which is to keep both versions. It's wrong to take away something we all loved!! This seems to have a radiance like the Hourglass powders, which are beautiful on occasion, but I do NOT want that on a daily basis! Grrr. I know it's just powder but it makes me so mad that that they take away a good thing. 😠 TYSM for the YSL/Armani blush comparisons. I think I would prefer the more matte finish of the YSL but Armani's shades are so much better. Thanks also for putting the Valentino on my radar. Great job on everything!
It sounds like they are working on figuring out a fix for this but we will see what happens.
How is the wear time with the new Valentino?
Comparable to the Rosso Valentino. Stain lasts all day but the creamier texture is 5-6 hours on me depending on food intake.

I am literally horrified about the Prisme Libre powder reformulation and I will have to find a substitute somehow. The Sisley powder is quite nice, but still not as good at the classic Prisme Libre powder. I guess I am going to have to pay up for the La Prairie powder if they have a shade match for me.
I agree, the Sisley is nice but not the same. There isn't anything quite like it imo but I'm looking!

I'm so sorry! Mine doesn't have any glitter in it but some of the limited edition shades I"ve had in the past have glitter and I really wish they wouldn't put it in face powder.
I’m bummed about the Prisme Libre powders, I’m leaning towards La Priarie loose powder for a matte finish.

I actually abhor synthetic fluorphlogopite. I know it’s not technically glitter, but it behaves identically, in my opinion. I hate having anything that shoots out iridescent micro flecks on. I have wasted good money on products that say they’re glitter free, and the. Have this as their first ingredient and I always hate it on my face. And i realize how psycho I sound having such a strong opinion on that, haha! I think it looks gorgeous indoors, I just hate it in outdoor lighting.

Hi Lexi, I did order the TF2 Sonia G brush - will be great for powder blush application. I did pick up a mini version of the Givenchy Prisme Libre powder for under eye application. The fact that it’s a bit shiny is not a huge issue for me, as it isn’t bad for me to add light reflection under my senior eyes. Thanks, as always, for a great review!

I AM SO ANGRY AT GIVENCHY. THEY RUINED MY POWDER. I am shade 2 and the new formula Sucks. It’s shiney. Only shades 1&4 seem to be the old matte like. Not mine. I returned it. It’s So shiny YUK I think they put in description matte but then it said luminous matte. I don’t care it’s sad and an uproar. It’s like they don’t care about mature skin and texture. 👎🏻. Edit. I have been saying the luxury companies are gearing towards the more younger crowd. Pops of color, etc
Trust me, "younger" people are not interested in a shiny "setting" powder either!! it's a real shame that givenchy has made such a foolish decision!
It's a huge problem. I'm so curious to see what happens now that they took it off the site.
I tried a liquid blush and I found it very difficult to put on: it either disappeared or it was too OTT on me. I think that liquid blush is just Today's Trendy Item and will be forgotten Tomorrow.
Liquid blushes can really be hit or miss and the skin type makes a huge difference on longevity. Powders are way more versatile for most people I think.
I fail to understand the mania behind removing talc, which has been used for centuries in face powders, and thus the ruination of GOLD STANDARD products. Corn starch, fluoroglosphite or whatever, and mica are not the same. Givenchy had a cult following with Prisme Libre and I'm sad I didn't get a back up last year. There are other powders that are hanging on to their talc, like Huda Beauty, which is excellent. I may be hoarding a few so I've got enough powder for a decade until the tide shifts and they come back to talc. ****le sigh*** nothing is forever!

I agree that it should have been a separate product. I understand that they need to remove talc but they have had a long time to find a better replacement for it.
