I lost my shit the first time I watched this video 10 years ago...just watched it again and nothing's changed. The sound of that v10 being driven hard gives me goosebumps. No silly music in the video, just that sweet, sweet howl. Love it!
Man...I used to watch all the VRAlexander videos everyday...Downloaded them on my old iphone4 and would listen to the sound in class everyday. Will never get old
Man... too soon for me :-/ He was a cool guy, used to email him a lot, he was an asshole but very helpful at the same time. Wish he was still around...
I really don't care for porsches, but this is one of my favorite cars of all time, everything about it is just amazing, and these videos never cease to impress me.
Driving those cars on American highways is like detaining cheetahs in a cage. Release them where they belong - on a race track (Nürburgring at best) or on the German Autobahn.
BewareOfTheKraut Oh I understood the comment. It's too dangerous for the streets and should be labeled as RACE only. I was more or less replying to your name. I find it offensive and I'm not German.
***** You find my name offensive although you are not German? Now, I am German and I don't find my Nick offensive. It is meant ironic, a kind of self-mockery, like some black people in the USA call themselves "Nigga". Do you get it? And no, you did not understand what I meant regarding these cars. They are not too dangerous for the streets, it is just a pity that these cars are driven on American highways with a maximum speed of 80 mph. Like a cheetah in a cage, do you now understand this metaphor?
People die in all kinds of cars every day/week whatever and people dont go on about it and the car is scary etc.....yes its a hard car to handle it seems but they died due to they crashed at high speed
puyrm morgan3072 Both of you are stupid. Another life was lost here, and you are not recogniziing that? What assh*les. Also, the driver was a PROFESSIONAL race car driver.
I don't know what sounds better the F1 style sound of the GT or the Turbo Sex coming out of that 996 Turbo, I've watched this video so many times, never gets old.
Aside from military jet engines and the V-10 era F1 cars, this is by far the nicest sounding engine on any car I've ever heard! It is absolutely majestic, titanic and epic!!!! Goose bumps!!!!
This video was shot in California. To be precise, Walnut Creek, Danville i680 through the Caldecott Tunnel then on to the Bay Bridge, exiting at Folsom Street, back to Walnut Creek close to Michael Stead Porsche. Im sure the folks there know the car and the owner well ;)
@DemolitionBunny The "stick" is the shifter... and no it has nothing to do with reving, it just changes the gears in the transmission, when it revs hes rev matching the gears so he doesnt hurt the clutch/transmission, and or he jsut rev's when he shifts in general because it gives you more time to match the rpms with the next gear smoothly when you shift.
@DemolitionBunny The stick is just there switch gears manually. Reving is when the car is left in neutral, (space between each gear slot), and the throttle is engaged.
I think the CGT will be the test of time It's over 8 years old since they came out, only offered in manual, and they sound better than most exotics even to this day.
It normally stays in the "stowed" position seen at 1:20 It automatically extends at high speeds to increase downforce, but there is a switch to pop it up manually for the ricer effect. But yeah, the car is definitely sexier when the spoiler is lowered.
I used to see this car all around. Its in the bay area. He was driving from alamo through Walnut creek, Orinda, through the Caldecott tunnel, through Berkeley, and into sf and then back. When I saw him, he was driving like a maniac lol still.
@lucky700 The owner to this vehicle; VRAlexander mentioned on StreetFire that the vehicle was tuned to find nearly 600 whp with more then 700 crank power. 600 whp at a curb weight of 3,045 lbs is well more then enough "GO". He never even went full w.o.t. in this video so you woulden't know if there was "no GO". You would be able to tell if the car went w.o.t. because the vehicle would be getting squirly and you'd hear it winding up to 8000-8500 RPM.. something he never did in this video.
@toddy592 i think he was probably driving in the wrong gears on purpose to get the best sounds out of the exhaust, e.g. when he shifted from 6 through to 3 in the tunnel, that sounded awesome!
You want your hand as close to the wheel as possible when shifting. That means faster shifts and less time to get your hand back in case of oh shit moments or corrections. It also actually helps with hand movement fatigue. The less you have to move your hand the less it will get tired.
@TrueCall I'm not 100% shure about the carrera gt, but manny of these high class sportscars revmatch automaticly when shifting down.. even the manual ones. its all computercontroled. another fact is that the revmatching sounds exactly the same in every video and i dont think every one revmatches everytime he shifts down.
AWESOME CARS!!!!!!! I wish we got more drivers like these out in the streets so we can weave in and out of traffic like it was a race track. Makes us get to our destinations a lot faster as safer......
That was in san francisco oakland and then walnut creek. i think ive seen this exact gt in downtown walnut creek in front of petes coffee and the bagel store. If the owner sees this he might remember me. I was the kid standing in the middle of the street taking pictures with my phone. had to get that perfect angle plus the gt is my favorite car.
If you were someone driving in a convertable and heard that sound coming through the tunnel you'd get freaked out. Awesome car ! Hey and what are with the dislikes people? I am in drooling but I don't dislike cause i haven't got one.
@MrPenetrator3 the carrera gt does this automaticly and it doesnt have nessesarly to do with turbo. it is just to prevent the rpms drop on shifting down. by giving a bit of gas the engine gets into a higher rpm to be at the right rpm for the lower gear. in a normal car you have to do it manually and its called "rev matching" just search for the videos. they explaine it really good. ps, the Carrera GT doesn't have a turbo
@TrueCall Dude, cam's are internals but not the internals to do the job and all they do is rotate the valves open and shut. New upgraded cams will only open the valves wider, improving airflow into and out of the cylinder. Doesn't have anything to do with the rpm's. On a natural aspirated motor like found in the Carrera GT it requires an increase in the compression (pistons) to improve the revolutions of the crank. Take a number of classes in engineering and high performance to know what I know.
@Mr1997Flight You're wrong. Best car sounds in the world are from the Pagani Zonda or the Lexus LFA. Oh and lets not forget the Ferrari FXX. The one Michael Schumacher has sounds as a perfect replica of a Formula 1 sound.
@snowydro1 the best Porsche is up to one's personal opinion. This is certainly not the most powerful Porsche, as it is not strictly for the track. Don't know if they're still making these. You can still find them for sale in lots of places. I think these were about $400k? You should buy one.
Hey brianzuk, is there any way to give this video a re-fresh as in make it HD? Keep this video up and upload an HD version seperatly? That would be SWEET.
@MikySrbija A wealthy guy from Cali who sadly passed away racing his porsche 996TT.....it was a sanctioned closed course, so don't think he was driving wrecklessly with pedestrians in the way. Most Carrera GT videos on TH-cam are of his.
@TheMarlboroman73 um usually that model audi would have a the s line symbol in the steering wheel. and from what i see i kinda doesnt look like it who knows. its just an A4 no matter what (s4 is just an A4 with the S line package)
Everyone, I saw this on TopGear and if TopGear raves about it then it must be amazing. Search Carrera GT here on TH-cam, it's worth the watch from a more professional aspect unlike this video which is cool because this is the kind of stuff someone would do owning one. The TopGear situation is based at the track to show full potential. This car should come into production. It will never go out of style.
@ALIOOOOOOOH it is half automatic. the car automaticly ads a bit gas when shifting down to revmatch. wiht a manual car you have to do this yourselve as you said when shifting down.
I love the sound of a Porsche flat six, but DAMN! The Carrera GT"s V10 sounds awesome! It's kind of akin to a pissed off trombone player. (That's a good thing. No hate mail, please.) I'd buy one if I had the money!!!!!
Still one of the best videos ever. RIP to an absolute legend.
I lost my shit the first time I watched this video 10 years ago...just watched it again and nothing's changed. The sound of that v10 being driven hard gives me goosebumps. No silly music in the video, just that sweet, sweet howl. Love it!
This video is legendary. Almost 10 years later, still one of the very best car based videos ever uploaded!
Thanks VRAlexander and BrianZuk! 🙌🏼
Still one of our favorite videos!
***** i agree it is the biggest video of carrera gt
One of the classic car videos on TH-cam. Good job Brian!
This was the golden age of TH-cam ! BrianZuk was the fucking man!
That Prius is still on the highway curve
love that sound at 6:00
Man...I used to watch all the VRAlexander videos everyday...Downloaded them on my old iphone4 and would listen to the sound in class everyday. Will never get old
2:08 gave me goosebumps
By me, best sound of all supercars..^^
always was watching this when i was like 8 years old... time flys, watching this video again brings back so many memories
Someone call paramedics bcuz this car is fuckin' -sick- bro. My dream...
Man... too soon for me :-/
He was a cool guy, used to email him a lot, he was an asshole but very helpful at the same time. Wish he was still around...
I really don't care for porsches, but this is one of my favorite cars of all time, everything about it is just amazing, and these videos never cease to impress me.
3:06 wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Best Sound
Best Porsche ever made till date.
You neva haad me, you neva haad ya caaah.
Is it me or is the porsche carrera gt the only car that sounds WORSE with aftermarket exhaust?
holy shit that car is amazing! you are so lucky to have been in the car, thanks for the video!
Driving those cars on American highways is like detaining cheetahs in a cage.
Release them where they belong - on a race track (Nürburgring at best) or on the German Autobahn.
Don't like the car? don't buy the car, as if you had the cash...ROFL

Don't can read? Don't answer on comment, as if you understood what I wrote...ROFL

BewareOfTheKraut sauerkraut junge! :) German autobahn rocks!
People die in all kinds of cars every day/week whatever and people dont go on about it and the car is scary etc.....yes its a hard car to handle it seems but they died due to they crashed at high speed
Exactly!
The guy driving this car is a pro race car driver. He was also killed in a crash
Still think about VRAlexander till this day. Can't even imagine what his collection would've been like if he were still around today...
Paul Walker R.I.P
Yup, he died sadly, in the same type of car. Just remember the one he was in was heavily moded and tuned...
DanTheCaptain What... the car wasn't "heavily modded and tuned".
+Daniel K is a liar...
+Crazy Bostonian Tires were seldom used. The last time the car received new tires was 9 years.
that car kill paul walker R.I.P
bad driving killed PW. dont be a tool.
*****
not just a race car driver a porsche racer none the less
puyrm morgan3072 Both of you are stupid. Another life was lost here, and you are not recogniziing that? What assh*les. Also, the driver was a PROFESSIONAL race car driver.
At8000RPM . He drove the car beyond his limits, plain and simple. He competed in a few events but he was a pro-am.
I'm pretty sure the car wasn't driving itself, A-HOLE. Does a gun kill? Or is it's the person pulling the trigger? What a brain buffoon.
One of the best...no wait...THE best video online on youtube these days!! What a great monster!! Thanks for uploading Brian!
Car killed paul
2;04 + is the best sound i have ever heard, a mixture between pure anger and ferocious power.... stunning
God, I love the Carrera's exhaust note. Such a beautiful BEAUTIFUL sound.
this is where its starts.. Kudos Brian! RIP VRAlexander.
The sound at 0:00 to 7:20 is amazing!
I don't know what sounds better the F1 style sound of the GT or the Turbo Sex coming out of that 996 Turbo, I've watched this video so many times, never gets old.

RIP Vralexander!!! one hell of a guy
watching this for years one of my favorite videos 🙏
this car is so awesome. not only the sound but also the looking. i don´t think there is any other car that looks that great!
One of the true classic vids ever!
The throttle blipping in amazing...at last a person from the U.S who knows how to truly drive a stick shift!!!!
This video was shot in California. To be precise, Walnut Creek, Danville i680 through the Caldecott Tunnel then on to the Bay Bridge, exiting at Folsom Street, back to Walnut Creek close to Michael Stead Porsche. Im sure the folks there know the car and the owner well ;)
Best Porsche ever built
Pure power, pure energy, pure sound, awesome

Three cheers for vehicular manslaughter charges! Always good to post videos like this on the internet as well. They make nice exhibits at trial.
man you guys are just PLAYING with these cars, i am 100% completely jealous
Rest in peace VRAlexander. :(
@DemolitionBunny The stick is just there switch gears manually. Reving is when the car is left in neutral, (space between each gear slot), and the throttle is engaged.
One of the first vids I watched on you tube
I think the CGT will be the test of time
It's over 8 years old since they came out, only offered in manual, and they sound better than most exotics even to this day.
If I'm not mistaken this was Vralexander's car before he died? R.I.P Vralexander.
Yes
Combination of the fact that this car revs very quickly, and just the exhaust sounds fucking epic
Rest in peace, VRAlexander, you are greatly missed. Beautiful car.

@Spacewolf9017 It's part of the car and it's there for stability at high speeds, and extra down force in cornering and braking.
@toddy592 i think he was probably driving in the wrong gears on purpose to get the best sounds out of the exhaust, e.g. when he shifted from 6 through to 3 in the tunnel, that sounded awesome!
Lol your recording gear has greatly improved. The sound quality is still really good.
R.I.P. VRAlexander, he is truly missed

the sound is breathtaking...
@schlaznger Its because black straight piped Carrera GT's leave pidgeons deaf. Only makes sense to get a little bit of revenge.
@Caliboy1022 correction... 521. they got mad when the cgt passed the prius lol
all the down shift s are awesome sounding but they also just kinda express the prorsches feeling of GOTTTA GO MAN!!! WTF IS A RED LIGHT??!

@demander11 Yeah dude it's the camera car, you can tell by the flat dash of a B5 and the sound of a 2.7 Twin turbo V6.
@MikySrbija A wealthy guy from Cali who sadly passed away racing his porsche 996TT.....it was a sanctioned closed course, so don't think he was driving wrecklessly with pedestrians in the way. Most Carrera GT videos on TH-cam are of his.
R.I.P Alex.....Brian keep the vids comin!
for some reason i like watchin vids of ppl racing through traffic in super cars
@golfmaniac007 there is also the added price of the car cause you will spin out and crash, thats why this car was recalled, cause it is undrivable
the carrera gt is one of my top 5 best sounding cars, and let alone the performance, it can keep up with 6-700 hp supercars by only developing 550 hp
@TheMarlboroman73 um usually that model audi would have a the s line symbol in the steering wheel. and from what i see i kinda doesnt look like it who knows. its just an A4 no matter what (s4 is just an A4 with the S line package)
Was the black Audi S4 part of the video crew? It kept showing up in the video, and was keeping up with the Porsche's.
Such a timeless beauty
Tunnel scenes were sick
I love that powe slide at 3:08
@BlackRacer13 I think the 959 might also be a candidate for that title. Or the 917 maybe?
I ve seen this car driving in front of us in germany, its just amazing
Everyone, I saw this on TopGear and if TopGear raves about it then it must be amazing. This car should come into production. It will never go out of style.
This car has the best sound of all the exotic cars.
that exhaust note is sick!
R.I.P. VRALEXANDER (THE DRIVER)
that's flippin awesome man!! how does he do them quick rev sounds?!?
@dlindsey102 amazing. you must have around 30-40 exotics in your garage by now if you buy 2 of them each year right?
@ALIOOOOOOOH it is half automatic. the car automaticly ads a bit gas when shifting down to revmatch. wiht a manual car you have to do this yourselve as you said when shifting down.
Rest in peace, VRAlexander. You (as well as your cars) will be greatly missed.
@nillsx yes, and a BMW S1000RR also beats a tuned 700hp Corvette any time, so its no miracle..
I love the sound of a Porsche flat six, but DAMN! The Carrera GT"s V10 sounds awesome! It's kind of akin to a pissed off trombone player. (That's a good thing. No hate mail, please.) I'd buy one if I had the money!!!!!
