The often quoted statement the Crowley added a "K" to magic as with the old English spelling, just to distinguish it from trickery & sleight of hand, is in my opinion not quite correct. I believe he also did it to imply information about it. "Magick" has six letters, not 5 as with "Magic", therefore, Hexagram rather than Pentagram, the Macrocosm, rather than the Microcosm, a spiritual rather than just a physical practice. I would further suggest that the Hexagram is related to one of the three most common phrases of Thelema, "Every Man & Woman is a Star!" being a Hexagram composed of an Air triangle & an Earth triangle ie an Astral male & physical female as with "Love Under Will". "K" is also the 11th letter of most alphabets indicating "Double", as well as being related to Kteis the female sexual organ which in Greek apparently means "Ladder". This interpretation is also supported by the seal of the O.T.O. where the overlap of the circles of spirit & flesh ie "Soul" or "Astral" shows a descending dove, the astral body after rising on the planes at the point of orgasm recombining with the body ie "Wilt". Lastly in "Magick in Theory & Practice" he wrote: "The practice of Rising on the Planes is of such importance that special attention must be paid to it.
