RENT has pretty recently been an incredibly influential show in my life, and its song, "Seasons of Love", is especially poignant because my years have been enriched by the memories I have made and the love I have found in my friends. I was so fortunate to be able to perform this song with so many of those friends and I hope you all enjoy their talent and their beautiful faces!!
I am SO thankful to all my friends who were able to make time in their busy schedules to come and sing with me for this video!! I love you all SO frickin much and I love that this video is now something I can look back on fondly.

Okay, I'm sorry I'm such a nerd, but there's actually a reason you can so distinctly hear Thomas's voice. Thomas is singing bass in this song, and as this is his natural range, he can project his voice as loud as needed. He's actually not singing as loud as he could here to try to blend better, which makes balancing the track a whole lot easier. So, with Thomas singing bass on this song, I don't hear any other bass on this song besides Thomas, now I could be wrong, and if I am there are definitely only a few people singing bass (my guess would be 4 at most.) Since Thomas is possibly the only one singing his part on this song his voice stands out more. Also, your brain hears the lower parts better than the high parts, because science said so, not even kidding.

Okay, I sadly do not know the name of the girl who did that high note at the end but she is a VERY talented singer. Last year my school chorus ended up performing that song for our concert and I had to sing that solo part. That note is one of the highest someone could be asked to hit and especially after the one before it. It is a very large span of notes to hop over and bridge to get to the final one and she did that amazingly well! Okay, I’m going to stop talking like I’m actually a professional instead of a thirteen year old, either way though, this definitely sounded great and I want this now.

I was pretty proud of myself because I wasn't crying for once, because I tend to cry a LOT just seeing people singing together. So FOR ONCE I was doing good. But then Brittney did THAT. She did that note and OH GOD the tears wanted to flow. I had survived Terrence, I had survived Valerie, I had survived them all and God knows I love all these voices but Brittney killed me, oof. But anywayyy this video is a blessing. Seeing all of you singing together ? I couldn't be happier really. Such a bunch of talented people aaaah.

I think that was done on purpose. He has a very strong and pleasant sounding voice and he is singing the tune so it would make sense that we can hear him. Also we are used to his voice more than the others.

This is how you know that Thomas is truly really considerate. He wasn’t in a spotlight, he didn’t have a solo part, and he wasn’t even *in the middle of the stage* to put more attention on himself. He is honestly such an awesome human being!

Okay so storytime:
I am really bad at maths so, I have a math tutor. So I was trying to do my homework with her when there is a question about how many minutes there are in a year and if you times that by however many numbers. Now, it doesn’t give you the exact number. Of how many minutes there are in a year and so I go, “ I know how many minutes there in a year, 525,600,” now my maths teacher is looking at me like I am crazy. So I have to tell her,” oh no it’s just from a song that I know one of the musicals that I listen to.” (She knows I’m obsessed with musicals) and she goes, “oh sing a bit of that song for me I might know it.” Now I don’t mind sitting in front of my friend they’re all singing and I don’t mind singing a bit in front of my parents because they’ve heard me sing before. But this is my maths tutor who has no idea what a nerd I am in musical theatre. Then anxiety started kicking in and was like, “ oh ! what are you going to do?” So i start mumbling the words. By now my maths tutor has realised that I don’t really want to sing for her. So we move onto the next question!
Okay so I know that was probably a pointless story but it really affected me at the time! 😂

Rent was such a powerful and moving experience for me as a kid, it spoke to me like i was an adult and truthfully shaped part of who i am today.
Me and my cousins would all gather around with my Aunt and watch this, Angel was such an inspiring character that helped me face most of my troubles of masculinity and femininity- and Roger helped show me what my dad was going through when my mom died. Mark helped me find confidence and a voice, and Collins ? Well Collins taught me to stand up for what i believe in, no matter how many times i got knocked down. Mimi helped me find my confidence, and to love others no matter the consequence-
