    Finally Somebody with reasonable lighting. All these "Gaming"-RGB-Setups are just impractical for serious work.

    Really appreciate the 'buyer beware' preface to every item you mentioned. Your setup doesn't work for my home office needs but at work this is gold

    Hey man this was an amazing one of a kind video on the whole TH-cam platform.
    I will love to see more of these videos with such simple setups or say exactly same setup with different them.
    Because I want to see in what different ways this setup can be customized, being it so simple and lovely.
    again a great video, keep it up.

    After trying many different setups, this is the one I landed on. It's clean, easy, and let's me take advantage of my macbook's screen and touchpad

    When I got my standing desk at home (I have one at my office), my life changed. I missed it so much and feel way more active during the day.

    Using the same set up with a 34 inch LG ultrawide for the last 3 years. Thinking of using the new Mac Mini M2 or Mac Studio and adding a second LG 34 inch ultrawide side by side.

    I really like this setup, this is exactly something I was thinking of for a secondary setup, and even some things I want to implement in my main setup. It has everything you need!

    You made a couple really good points. I liked my set up but after watching yours, I did feel the need to de-clutter my desk. I am actually doing it as I write this right now. And even as I go through setting it up and make these modifications, I feel like my workspace is becoming more productive. Thank you for sharing.

    Last autumn I switched to a minimalist desk setup which has as its centrepiece a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone accessorised with a Samsung M7 monitor, a Microsoft Portable mouse (Bluetooth), Samsung Airbuds (Bluetooth), and a Royal Kludge K68 keyboard (Bluetooth or USB-C cable). This setup was powered by Samsung DeX. The smartphone sends video wirelessly to the monitor. Only 1 cable for monitor power is required. Network connectivity is via WiFi, 4G, or optionally wired Ethernet.

    First - this desk setup is really nice. I would love to see more of theese. And (maybe a bit overkill), i would mount a Sony camera like an 6400 to the wall, plug it into the monitor, and there is your high-quality webcam. I don´t know if this is possible with other cameras, but the most of sony can simply be plugged in via usbc to the computer (or dock of course) and then be choosen as a webcam and also as a mic, then you also could plug in a shotgun mic for example. So that you have not only got the best video, but also the best sound on the nect video call.
    Nice Desk Setup!

    Very nice setup! I use a 72" Gladiator Butcher block workbench from HD. In addition, I added 2 pull out desk drawers from Amazon to screw on the underside. I did this along with 2 tray organizers for pencils, pads, stapler, etc. Thanks for the video!

      The idea of having minimalistic setups at least for me is to have less distractions, yeah sure sometimes is boring, but you literally have an unlimited machine in front of you that can do everything, are you sure you need clutter around?

    I actually think the dark wood of the old set up looked more modern and minimalistic, as well as more expensive - but I love the new one as well, so I'd probably keep the other one for my partner, just a desk in another room for a different set up, or give it to younger relatives for their studies

    Quite an interesting laptop powered desk setup. I would suggest adding speakers to the setup, either the Kanto YU2 or the Audioengine A2+ Plus, to allow for better sound. Both speaker options also have Bluetooth, so you will be able to maintain the single USB-C plug to allow any laptop to use the desk. You may want to consider a vertical clamshell laptop stand and a wireless keyboard such as the Logitech Craft or MX Wireless keyboard to alleviate the neck strain that you experienced using your MacBook Pro as the primary keyboard and monitor. The neck pain could also be remedied by positioning the laptop and 27" Dell monitor ergonomically, I would also switch from the using a mouse to a trackball from either Elecom or Kensington to prevent RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) such as carpal tunnel syndrome.

    I hope that apple silicon laptops start supporting eGPUs and windows x64 emulation/sideloading
    the M1 and M2s have such awesome battery life and screens for just lazing around on reddit and youtube, but they could really unlock all of their power by allowing gaming and eGPUs.
    A setup similar to this with an eGPU that connects to a 120hz monitor, keyboard,mouse,HDD,charging etc all with one cable sounds so incredible and I think Apple may be the only company in a position to do it with how much better their apple silicon vs other devices.

  • @1983Mocassin
    @1983Mocassin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice setup, but I rather like my laptop on the side and an external keyboard and mouse. I tried to put my laptop in the position you also have for a while, but I went back because the laptop screen underneath the external monitor is distracting me more than at the side. Video calls as the exception

    I like the lighted wood panels. The light above the monitor looks interesting 🤔 but not sure if I need such a thing. Probably need to try it out personally. Even more interesting are the 3 doors 😁 in your office. Ummm where do they all go?

  • @honeypeadigital
    @honeypeadigital 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure if you would like it, nor do I know if it’s ergonomically correct. If you adjust the monitor slightly above the normal computing height, you would have less strain when working with the laptop screen. And since you have adjustable desk, you can always adapt to which screen takes priority for comfort.
    Neither my chair nor desk is adjustable so I use the first approach.

    • @Gabriel-ue3jf
      @Gabriel-ue3jf 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think that a lot of setups like this which are made with that shelf on the desk suffer from this ergonomical issue. Me as well, i have a desk and on top of it i have a 17cm shelf like that from the video. I have the monitor on that shelf. And the problem is my eye sight is reaching the middle of the screen, not the top of it so it causes a little neck strain. My chair is all the way up and the monitor is all the way down on that shelf, yet still above my eyes level. And this is the problem of all youtubers setup designed like this as far as i've seen

    The problem is you've essentially just got a laptop plugged into a monitor. You don't benefit from many of the advantages of being at a desk, like better speakers, a decent keyboard, and not having to look down at your laptop screen the whole time.
