Hi 👍 No problem very good English! So great to hear how much you are enjoying you Rocket. I was so impressed with the ride, what an amazing motorcycle and machine in general. Cannot fail to put a smile on your face. Cheers and enjoy your ride
Good review...I'm on my 2nd GT now...had the 2020 and now the 2022 Triple Black GT...love them!...You have got to adjust the suspension to suit you..get the feet positions right and ride!..The bike just drops into corners with a little counter steer and grunts out the corners with all that torque...Triumph got it right with these bikes for sure!
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 I can definitely understand why you are such a big fan! Incredible bikes. Yes a bit of fine tuning would be needed, but other than that it's ready to rock and roll 😁 Cheers
If it has not been mentioned earlier you cant just adjust the forward pegs to mid pegs. You have to buy the mid range pegs to accomplish that and they are not cheap. Also you can for sure put a speed shifter on the Rocket, love the speed shifter on my GT. Thanks a lot for the review.
I've owned my rocket for about a month. I've ridden many different types of motorcycles throughout my life. It is tough to say which one is better than another, because depending on what's being compared, it's just not a cut and dry thing. Do I love my KZ1000, absolutely! Do I love my rocket? Are you kidding me? I have never ridden anything like this machine. Every review, the reviewers will almost always say that they never ridden anything like it. I live in the foothills of Yosemite, and I just got home today from about a 4-hour ride. Many, many twisties. The rocket, she's big and bad, that bike will go low to the ground! The part to be concerned about, is when you throw back that throttle, the torque will blow your mind! I've owned a Bonneville, BSA, many versions of Kawasaki's, Honda's. They're all different. But I am going to say this here... If I only could have one, it would be the rocket. Lol. But, I'm fortunate I can have more than one!
👌 It is an amazing motorcycle and piece of engineering in general! I agree, I think once you have ridden one they are just so special it would be hard to ever get rid of it 😁 Even better if you can have extras. Cheers
I'm 79 years old and my R3 is the best of 28 bikes I've owned. The quick shifter is a MUST and works PERFECTLY up and down.....Triumph should have made that stock...not an option! You must get the mid control kit to get the pegs to the mid position although you can move the forwards back about 1 1/2- 2" which has been fine even for my 29 inch inseam. My bike is a 2021 so maybe the 2023 allows the forwards to move back to mid? There are faster bikes, there are more comfortable bikes, there are more nimble big bikes but nothing puts it all together like this R3! Smooth as silk, fast as hell and solid as a rock! The quality of the build is not mentioned much but it is truly excellent!
Hi, that is great to hear from an owners perspective 👍 It truly is an impressive machine, and yes I agree the build quality is exceptional! Yes the 2023 model you can adjust the foot pegs from mid to forward etc... Cheers
I've just bought a 2021 GT Triple Black and wholeheartedly agree with everything you've said here. It's a bike that ought to be more than a little scary but yet it has impeccable road manners. I've called mine Black Beauty because it's just so dark and mysterious yet so dependable but it cat half get a trot on when asked to 😯 😀
It’s approximately 100 Kg lighter than a HD Ultra Classic. A bike which is one of the most top heavy bikes I’ve ever ridden. So if I hit the lottery, it’s the Triumph for me.
Yes considering its engine size and compared to other heavy weight cruisers it is light in comparison! Technically wise the riding dynamics are far better than an HD (I think)!
Massive congrats on your order, seems like something that must be owned once in a life time! Such a special bike. A worthy predecessor to the Speedmaster 👍

Love your review of this! You really took us along for the ride. What a special bike. There are quite a few of these at shows round here, so some people are living the dream.
The CBT didn't quite go as planned. I haven't "failed" but did run out of time. Still got to do U turn on the pad ( I've done it on their road network) emergency stop and polish up signalling and lifesavers. About an hour they reckon. Then I can go on a live road and do Element E. They said I'd pass it. I just needed breaks more often. The first day was on a Kawasaki Eliminator but I couldn't get it round tight corners and my arms hurt so much the next day, I went onto a moped and I bloody loved it! So I'll complete it on an automatic and learn the gears ( easy) when I get The Monkey 😄 So nearly there!
@@lilynorthover8378 👍 Stick at it, at your own pace. It is all a learning curve, enjoy the journey! Yes a Monkey is a brilliant idea 😎 Good luck and enjoy
I did really enjoy it and I'm afraid even at 30mph my hooligan side came out. I did a very tight U turn around the instructor to scare him a little and when he told me to ride back and park the bike, I went round the cones and up the slalom on the way😂 I can't wait till I have the time to complete it and get a Monkey, so I'm getting a 50 cc scooter to practise on in the meantime.
@@lilynorthover8378 😂 that is good to hear! That's what it is all about. Great idea, practice on the scooter and just enjoy it. The more you ride the better it gets 😁
Stunning bike, although I prefer the Rocket 3 R. In 2009, I think it was, I took out a test Mk 1 Rocket lll Roadster. I thought it would be difficult to lift off the side stand, but it was easy with the weight carried so low. That Rocket is my favourite one. So much torque, so easy to ride. I considered buying it. When I jumped back on my Buell Ulysses, it felt like a toy. On reflection, the Roadster would have been too heavy and not economical enough. I stuck with the Buell. Good review.
So pleased to have finally ridden a Rocket! Really not let down, was so surprised at how easy it was to ride. Also that power is simply addictive. Yes with my sensible hat on, probably not the most practical bike! Great fun though.
It rides like something from a dream as well haha! Definitely not a cheap bike, but given the engineering gone into it I think it is acceptable! Highly recommend a test ride if you get the chance 👍
what an amazing motorcycle, i would be so worried about dropping it but that speed and torque would soon make that worry disappear. Well done for being so brave to ride one and what aperfect day you had to experience such a machine. Really enjoyed the video angus.
Really is an amazing bike! Such impressive engineering. Yes you soon get over any worries and fears, it actually rides really nicely and easy to handle. Would be gutting to drop it though 🥴. Many thanks, really glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers
It's not really a high bike, I can easily flat foot mine, but I have long legs. It's lighter than the 2019 and earlier models, although she's still a "big boned" girl😄
I'm too old, the bike is too big and too expensive and I don't have the room for one BUT will I try one now? Yes I will! No thanks to you and your damnably great review!😀
🙌 haha you will love it! Many thanks really pleased you enjoyed the review so much. Worth riding one just for the experience, and to brag about it down the pub! Cheers and enjoy it
Two Rocket 3 Tourings over 12 years and I just bought my new 2023 GT this summer. The GT does it all for me and just a fantastic performer. I'm 77 and I love mine. Ya gotta love a Rocket 3 and you'll never know or appreciate the joy till you own one.
Hi hope your ok I’ve spoken to you before I bought a speedmaster like yours a year and half ago well just seen your video on the rocket 3gt well I’ve just bought one a 23 plate chrome edition red with chrome and what a bike I’ve only done 315 miles so far and I love it it’s fantastic and quality well hope your doing ok and have a enjoyable Christmas all the best nick
Hi Nick, I am doing well thank you 🙏 Wow what a bike the Rocket 3GT is, incredible bit of engineering. Merry Christmas to you and enjoy the ride. All the best
Hi, many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Yes it is a mighty impressive bike and machine in general. Something one could really fall in love with and be very proud to own. Cheers
I was JUST looking at the 2023 Rockets on the Triumph website as I am considering one, then saw this video! Thank you so much! I have to say, this is the first one of your videos where I noticed you blurred out the speedometer at times. 🤔 😉 😂👍🏻
👍 Nice glad the video came out just in time for you! That would be a great buy, such an impressive motorcycle and machine in general. Haha yup the torque is addictive 😁 Quality bike
@@redangrevival definitely! I will stick with my 22 Speedmaster for now, though, but the Rocket would be a fine addition! (Don’t think I could ever part with my Speedmaster!)
Brilliant review! You mentioned the firm ride a couple of times, did you have a ride when adjusting the rear suspension to its softest setting? Thank you.
Thanks I appreciate it, glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Unfortunately I did not adjust the suspension settings, however it was not too stiff a set up, just stiffer when comparing to more traditional style cruisers. You can definitely soften it up on the rear shock.
Had the old Rocket 3 Touring. A beast of a bike put suprisingly easy to ride. However, at a stand still, loosing the balance point was deadly and it would pull you over and off and the drop of a hat, Had it for six years then part exchanged it for the BMW R18 Bagger 👍
Yes the older GT model is a huge bike, I bet that was hard to stand back up. What a mega part X, absolutely love the R18, especially the Bagger 😁 Enjoy
@@redangrevival There is a technique to getting the Rocket Touring back up on it’s wheels. Still need strong legs though. 380 kilos is a lot of bike 💪😂
@RedAng Revival haha I was joking! I actually got a t120 as my first bike and have found it amazing as a first bike despite it being a 1200cc engine. Very easy to ride
Very nice bike. Speedy questions: Next time you're at the dealer - could you ask if there's any way to add an inch (give or take) of travel to the speedmaster suspension? Also, how long can you ride before you need a break? I'm now thinking Speedmaster (for the weight and price) - Indian Springfield (think of it as heavy Speedmaster bagger) - or go full touring Indian Pursuit.
Sure I will try to remember! A good option would be to swap the rear shock out for an aftermarket shock. Lots of people have done this and say it makes a good difference. 2/3 hours ideally! Bearing in mind I have a back pack on! You will probably be more comfortable on the big Indian for longer distances, however the less weight on the Speedmaster is a huge bonus.
Unfortunately, with a 32.4 miles to the US Gal, and a 4.8 US Gal tank, the autonomy is disappointing for a GT Bike. I live in Texas, and have completed my second year of Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas. There are a lot of areas in Texas that have few gas stations, and 150 miles is my refuel mark for my Moto Guzzi V11 Le Mans which average about 40 to 44 mpg on a 5.4 US Gal tank. Alpine to Big Bend entrance 100 miles+ will require the full tank of the Rocket 3, with nothing to spare. You will need to refuel at Terlingua, on a conservative ride. As soon as you leave the highways, you may experience the running out of gas anxiety. Don't get me wrong, I love the Rocket 3GT, especially in red. But having to refuel every 100 miles for safety would kill the joy; at least for me.
That is fair enough, I suppose for true touring (GT) then the fuel consumption is not ideal. But if there are plenty of gas stations around, it is worth it 😎 Such an impressive motorcycle and machine in general. Cheers
@@redangrevival Not so plenty, in France are gas stations every 50-60km. If you travel thru mountain passes, it is really challenge to reach the gas station! I often had 25km to empty, once 9km! My record was arrival to gas station with 1km to empty tank! I think, the tan could be 5 liters larger.
BS.....I comfortably get 320klm, 200 miles out if my Rocket, including " enthusiastic " riding....I tried an economy run....extremely difficult to do...and got 360 klm ..that's over 220 miles....don't believe bullshit from these pages.......ps, I owned a 2012 model, 50000klm...the new Rocket is vastly superior in every way...40hp more, 40kg..that's 88lbs lighter...performance, handling, braking is surprising for those who don't know. I never cease to be amazed by people who comment ...but have never ridden one
@@terryyates5131 II don't know if you mean me by your post. I have an R3GT, in 3 months I have driven 12000km on it, the average consumption I have not been able to lower than 6,75/100km. I don't know how you do it, maybe you're at the beginning of a journey through a desert and back and you only drive 90km/h, hehehe. The power and torque are addictive and I enjoy every single turn of the throttle.
I've owned a rocket 3 for about a month now. When we asked about who the greatest drummer is, the greatest guitarist, are the greatest whatever. It's so difficult. Such different genres that is impossible. This is the first and only rocket I've ever owned, however I've ridden many bikes. So I would think a speedmaster versus a rocket, two different playing fields.
@@redangrevival I've never driven anything massive, bikes or cars. I can only imagine what it's like to have that torque in abundance. An engine 4 or 5 times bigger than it has to be. The 2.5 litre engine is the main wow factor obviously. Perhaps 2nd is the radially mounted rear disn brake calipers... not sure if any other motorbike has this. This bike is expensive but not unjustified.
@@redangrevival I have just purchased a Rocket 3GT, but not ever tried to ride one yet. Were you really impressed? I bought it because it is new and a very good price. Thank you.
They really are something else Red have seen then out and about but fer me just to much bulk that alone would detract me let alone the price 😉👍Nice good watch though .
👍 so impressive aren't they! Yes they are big and pricey, but the way it rides really does offset that weight. I recommend a ride on one, even just to experience it. Cheers
haha yes it does a bit! It really is an impressive bike and machine in general 👍 Such top quality and delivers all of that power so well. Nice, I love my Speedmaster. Highly recommend one. Cheers
That’s a crazy bike. I can’t imagine laying that bike down! How to pick it up? I’m curious if you have ever gone to an Isle of Mann race? Those riders are insane!
It is crazy but amazing at the same time! Just rides brilliantly 👍 Unfortunately have never been to the Isle Of Mann TT, but would love to go one day, They are incredible riders
What makes your reviews so great is the setting you have to show the bikes. That countryside is amazing. Triumph is a really hard bike to beat for the money. I was wondering if you had access the Energica bikes in the UK. Electric bikes are becoming extremely popular here because the range is no longer an issue and the torque those bikes produce is amazing. Check out the esse 9+ very cool machine. I also really like the Diavel 1260 S, that bike is awesome and priced similar to the big Triumph you just reviewed.
@@shardie78239 Yes I am really lucky with the beautiful country side surrounding where I live! 😁 I am currently trying to get access to some electric bikes, would be great to review some! Also can't wait to ride the Diavel V4
Man, really like watching your videos, but it would be amazing if you could improve the video quality. It's not that bad though, just needs to upgrade the resolution to 1440 or higher at 60fps. Cheers.👍
It's got everything Like a driving power big fat tires And everything I love it and I need it I bleed it Yeah it's a wild hurricane Alright hold tight I'm a highway star...2024 Triumph 3GT
Nice review of a nice bike, but a pity about the dirt on that huge radiator, and that's from riding on dry roads, imagine if it had been raining! I don't get it, do people really love these tiny, non-functional mudguards, since motorcycle producers fit them to all their bikes? Surely on a huge beast like the Rocket something that would actually protect the bike wouldn't look out of place? To me that tiny thing over the front wheel, that anyone can see won't work, just looks silly.
Thanks glad you liked the review 👍 Yes I did notice that as well! It was a dry and sunny day, yet still the bike got quite dirty! I have spoken to a few people that have swapped the rear mud guard out for something bigger. Not sure how easy it would be for the front end. Good point though, that would be a pain, having to clean the bike after every ride!
My comment below I made before even watching the video, lol. And sure enough at 3:23, he lets out a scream of joy! Lol. I'll try to shut up through the rest of this video, but I bet this is not going to be the first time he's going to be absolutely giddy about being on her.
Very different. The R18 is a much more raw experience and laid back riding style. The Rocket is very clinical in its power delivery and much faster!! In short the Rocket is more performance orientated, the BMW just beautiful!
@@eusebiubacosca6528 As BMW released R18, I felt in love immediately. But then, in showroom, I was disappointed. I could not find comfortable sissing position on R18FE, seat was tooo low, engine toooo close to legs, it was impossible to shift the gear up or down and also press rear brake. Also I did not like the small tank. I've chosen R3GT and after 12000km I am absolutely sure that it was the not good choice between R18 and R3 but best choice in current offer of motorcycles. Few days ago I was in BMW showroom and tired R18B, was much more comfortable than R18FE, but too heavy and I don't like the fairing at all.
Great video. You described that bike perfectly. And I get you if that bike was auto or had quick shifter.. wow. Go on triumph. Do a deal with Hondas DCT BOX.. But yes what a great bike. I have foot drop and that’s the only thing from slowing me down. But I’m thinking truck it and just go with it… I can still change gear, but have to use my whole leg to shift up… I’m holding to test ride this bike in the next couple of weeks…
I agree it is a muscle bike, however I feel that a lot of people who buy them will use them for cruising! Also the name "GT" implies it has been designed for longer distance rides
0-60 in 2.7 srconds. You got to get to know her...take her out on a date....You could conceivably ask your dealership to mount a twerting butt robot on the gas tank in front of you....there is blue tooth and plug in feature.
I think it’s a pointless bike. They could have made a proper touring version of this bike, for 2 up to give Harley and Indian a go at the cruiser market. They had a touring version of the older version that sold pretty well in North America…
Fair enough. I actually prefer the GT to the R model. I do agree that Triumph really need to make a large cruiser to compete with HD and Indian. I think the rocket is too performance oriented for this. Common Triumph lets have a big traditional cruiser please!
Pointless, lol. Its the best all around cruiser on the market. I can tour with the Harleys and play with the sports bikes in the twisties. Tell me one important thing your ride can do that the Rocket cant do better or at least compete. 🎃
What is "proper touring version"? Something ugly looking, like Corbin did? Why do you think it is necessary to make a mega-scooter for pensioners out of a bike where every detail oozes power and testosterone? There are lot of people who don't like the fairings, bags and huge passenger seats. I think, US is not the target for Rocket. Triumph tried it with previous model but not very successfully, now they hit the target perfectly. Lightweight sporty traveling is what the Rocket is for. It offers similar feelings like hypercruisers but with much much higher comfort and usability.
The old Rocket 3 Touring was a flop in the US, I know because I owned one and traded it for a Roadster. That bike was FUN..I rode it 80 mile to work every day. I now have two HD CVO's in my garage, but am considering a new Rocket as well because I loved the 2014 so much...

Luckily you can get a quickshifter, which happens to be one of the smoothest in the industry!
👌 Perfection
The perfect motorcycle for England's crumbly little golf cart path roads!
Yes maybe not ideal for our roads, but I would much rather have it than not!
Excellent comprehensive review. A machine with the thrill and aesthetic to bring great pride of ownership and experience.
@@marcverdi665 👌 Good to hear! So hard to thi k about getting rid of the Speedmaster, just such a loveable bike 😁
Well done! nice review! Love the black .
👍 Thanks I appreciate it. Happy New Year
Great review as always. Have you had a go on a Goldwing Bagger? I'd like to see that.
Thanks 👍 No not yet, but that would be great 😁
Would you prefer the Rocket R3 to your Speadmaster? Thanks for the review!
Yes tbh I would!
@@redangrevival Awesome thank you :)
@@robertw.1499 haha of which I don't have 😉
Is this a good first bike? I'm thinking of this or a Kawasaki H2 for when I pass my test next week
Assuming this is not a joke! No, neither of those bikes are beginner bikes
@RedAng Revival haha I was joking! I actually got a t120 as my first bike and have found it amazing as a first bike despite it being a 1200cc engine. Very easy to ride
@@ilikelampshades6 Haha thank God! Yup the T120 is realistic 👍
The first 2.3 litre Triumph Rocket III came out in June 2004
I believe it was announced in 2003! First delivery 2004.
Very nice bike.
Speedy questions:
Next time you're at the dealer - could you ask if there's any way to add an inch (give or take) of travel to the speedmaster suspension?
Were you intimidated? Does it have 3 engines, or is it 3 large bore cyclinders?
Cheers bud
But if there are plenty of gas stations around, it is worth it 😎
Such an impressive motorcycle and machine in general.
@@ichbinmartin Yup think the dimensions of the bike could definitely handle a slightly larger tank 👍
So Angus. This or Speedy - money no object.
Coor now that is a tricky question! I am just in love with my Speedmaster at the moment, for what I use the bike for. I would stick with my Speedy 👍
@@redangrevival for me the Rocket and the Hyabusa are dream bikes, but I couldn’t have either due to age and a back that is even older 😄
@@denisg4288 Fair enough, it happens to us all!!
No contest; the new chrome speedy!
I've owned a rocket 3 for about a month now. When we asked about who the greatest drummer is, the greatest guitarist, are the greatest whatever. It's so difficult. Such different genres that is impossible.
This is the first and only rocket I've ever owned, however I've ridden many bikes. So I would think a speedmaster versus a rocket, two different playing fields.
would you consider this machine a tourer with adequate windshield? would it carry bum in comfort 300 mile day?
Yes I found it really comfortable 👍
This is the only bike I would consider spending silly money (relative to bikes) on.
A good point, it seems worth it for the price, considering the amount of work and engineering that has gone into it. Really a very impressive thing!
@@wolfpackpete6408 Even if you can just take one for a test ride, it is well worth the experience!
@@redangrevival I believe that! Would it be too big, too much of a handful initially for someone who's never riden a cruiser style of any size before?
@@wolfpackpete6408 If you have experience riding in general then you will be fine. It is surprisingly easy to ride 👍

They really are something else Red have seen then out and about but fer me just to much bulk that alone would detract me let alone the price 😉👍Nice good watch though .

Amazing bike. It looks like something Judge Dredd would ride.
I’m planning to get a Speedmaster in the new year, but maybe a few years later….?

Hear hear, it is such a special bike and amazing piece of engineering 🙌

How is the rocket3 compared with bmw r18?
Very different. The R18 is a much more raw experience and laid back riding style. The Rocket is very clinical in its power delivery and much faster!!
In short the Rocket is more performance orientated, the BMW just beautiful!
Thanks very much, I have to choose between them 2.
@@eusebiubacosca6528 Good luck with your choice, can't go wrong either way really!!
