- 13th Colony just launched their brand new Small Batch Cask Strength Southern Bourbon, the 2024 Limited Release. This 5-6 year juice comes in hot at 120.64 proof with a retail price of about $100. But is it as good as their double oaked bourbon? Let's see in today's tasting and review.

Apologies, the minimum age on the small batch cask strength is actually 5 years not 4.
Checking the channel out, per Matt's recommendation (I'm the friend that introduced him to 13th Colony and got him that first bottle), and liking it! Great work!
Welcome, happy to have you!
Maybe it's me but this was seriously underwhelming and I regret paying that money for it.
Thanks for this review! You're only one of two reviews on TH-cam for the new cask strength. There's only 7,100 bottles of those so I'm grabbing one!
13C makes some good juice, but I'm just not convinced they are making $100 (or $200 :-O ) bottles. Maybe if I can get a friend to pick one up and let me try I can be convinced, but I'm too cheap. Already passed on it twice this week.
Saw the new small batch cask strength today in north ga for $120. Worth it? Hmmm…
The best I've had from 13th Colony has been the 15 year anniversary. Absolutely delicious. Then the DO B1. I haven't had the DO B2 yet to throw it into the mix, but of friends that have had the DO B2 and the 15y, they have, I believe, all said the 15 year was tops.
I really like their profile, and I’m sure she and proof both do their profile very good justice so I believe you
@@TrueVanguard also, my buddy that’s a real bourbon nerd is convinced after they released the mash bill for something, that they source from Green River (now owned by Bardstown)
@@Bryarx81 That's funny, I just picked up a bottle of Green River rye today to compare to the old juice since BTown took it over.
I am lucky to own a bottle of their 15th anniversary’s, it is simply the best I have taste so far. Bad thing its now extremely expensive, and a very limited release, unlike the Double oak that is an anual release, but still very difficult and also expensive.
Msrp is $80s for the cask strength. I got 2 for $86 each including tax. Got an SP version for $80s as well. For me agree DO is the best, then 15th anniversary, then the cask strengths. Need to land one of their cask strength ryes
I have really enjoyed everything I’ve had from 13th Colony. Their normal offering is solid but like you said their profile really starts to shine in the cask strength options. I have been lucky enough to get my hands on a few of their single barrel picks as well as had samples of the Double Oak and 15th Anniversary. The 15th Anniversary is remarkable and I would likely spend some stupid money on it if I found it. Unfortunately the only one I’ve seen on the shelf was priced so far past even calling it stupid money that I couldn’t bring myself to pay it.
Stumbled upon this channel today. Managed to get three cask strengths. Also, just picked up the Ansley store pick today. Quite a few cases still sitting on the shelf.
I recently found the small batch and their Rye. Both are definitely worth having in my opinion. Great review
Have been tempted to try a 13th colony but never made the pickup. Will have to find me one of these. Thanks Ryan!
