People of Jammu Kashmir need to acknowledge how liberal Central assistance comes to the State , unlike relatively lesser funds for States like Bihar Bengal Odisha Rajasthan Chattisgarh .
That's why , individuals of Jammu Kashmir State have good per capita income than residents of other states mentioned above .Also, greater political autonomy / plebiscite/ referendum, which is desired by many, especially Kashmir elite, can be sought if J & K were a financially well-off State
It depends hugely on Union Government Finances for its development, which means the rest of India has been funding the State very liberally for 70 years .Jammu Kashmir is a land locked State .Despite all efforts, it is not likely to be ever financially a very strong State / economy.
Because of governance / law and order issues , the funds devolved by the Centre to the State were not utilised properly and may even have been illegally diverted to Pakistan.
As they say , "No Political Representation without taxation " ,it is through own sources /taxation that modern societies/ Countries/ States fund their development programs.
One cannot have the cake and eat it too !
Those desiring / clamouring for greater political autonomy must understand what they are desiring .
One is not talking of the over 40,000 civilian( including locals ) and Armed personnel deaths in J & K in last several years due to insurgency and Pakistan interference , a price which the rest of the country, is no longer ready to pay .
