    Finest footage of the era that I've seen. Plenty of Typ C action, which is how I found it.

    I never knew Dr Porsche hailed from the Shetland Isles. And dear H Stuck jnr, seems he was a chipper lad who grew up in Bermondsey ! Great archive film let down by some very poor research. No wonder Mercedes did not fair well against Auto Union - little kiddies pedal cars versus V16 cyl', supercharged, 600bhp, 750kg behemoths, no contest.

    I am not sure but I think Auto-Union managed more victories than Mercedes. Rear swing axles and skinny hard tires did not help, though the weight distribution to put the power down must have been good for Auto-Union.

      A difficult one: it wasn't until the ill-fated 1939 season that both teams were well matched at the same time. 34 was dominated by AU, 35 by MB, 36 by AU... and so it continued.
