I honestly love this man so much, i started watching to learn more about composing but now i honestly watch only because of him. Such a kind and genuine human being, love you guy!
thank you
I totally misheard you at 2:05 but "If you play softly, you get a soft attack, and if you play harder you get a [heart] attack." is now my favorite thing ever. 😂
I came here to point this out, too, but figured I should scan the comments first to find that nope -- I'm not the first one! LOL
@@SteveSensenigI don't know why Spitfire has NOT done this on other libraries, aside from for short articulations. I've found it to be a weakness with Spitfire products in general, now they are stepping into volocity sensitive playing.
Wonderful sounds. Thank you for this. Always enjoy learning from you and once again Spitfire Audio has produced an amazing library.
Great overview, thanks a lot!
I imagined a call from Danny Elfman's lawyers rather than Hans Zimmer's :D Anyways, good stuff as always!
They're on the phone all the time
Serious Batman vibes on this one! 😂
Sounds really nice!
Yes Ive been playing with it some more and in a fuill arrangement it sounds bloody amazing - best sounding strings I think Ive played
You make it look so easy. I’m about 2 years in learning to compose. I know about how to find chords find scales. Ect bit actually writing a tune like you do is so hard, even hard to turn the sketch into anything resembling a full orchestration. So close to giving up so many times but still forcing myself to sit at the piano just to get to where you are one day!
Dont Give up Ben.
Go for some walks or runs. Do some hard work out.
Then come back.
Start with putting together just a 1 minute piece of music.
Make it weird, make it yours.
Feel good about the process.
And remember, youve come this far.
Turn left, turn right. Just dont turn back.

I love it
There seems to be something wrong with the sound of the video... or there is extremely strong EQ on the master. It sounds very harsh/sharp overall. It's definitely not the sound of the libraries.
Ooh these are great sounds! Wish I could afford it!
yes it is a professionally pricxed product even with the price reduction
Great video Guy! Could you make a comparison video between the Abbey Road stuff and BBCSO?
Guy, I love you. You're so good and so FUNNY!
There's always room for cello.
Lovely sounding ,not so lovely priced :P .Love you man great stuff as always !
Is there a mike setting for the boot of your car? I remember that vid. Thank you Guy, not only do I learn when I listen to you, its a lot easier with a smile on my face.
Great timing Guy! The Sampleist posted their video a few minutes before Paul finished!
I was watching Paul do his thing
hey that string thing sounds like the Cantina Band at 10:46. It would have been cool to do a straight string version of that piece!
I have to say so far, before this new series of sections they are releasing and that Guy demos and reviews here, that BBC ORCHESTRA is probably my favorite string section, of the many that Spitfire has released. So I'm hovering of the edge of if i should go all in with this new Abbey Roads....
Its not needed if you have BBC SO pro. this isn't going to provide anything that BBC doesn't already have. I love the Spitfire libraries and have been caught by their marketing in the past buying libraries I don't need. This is library is a HUGE investment. The articulations and mics aren't that much different than what's in the pro version of what you already own. Save yourself the money and invest in a very good convolution reverb if you don't already have one. Food for thought...
Thanks, that sounds like very good advice. I might get the violas or basses from this once they get around to doing those, if those have more detail or punch. I like Spitfire too, but I felt burned by their Spitfire Appassionata Strings, which I've found rather useless. Thanks very much for your thoughts on this@@sandwich-breath
I use Appassionata a lot with AR1. Blends very well, I think.
@@doodle6497, thanks, that's my beef with Apassionata is that it doesn't seem to blend well with anything else, but you suggest a solution.
I love the BBC as well it’s my main mock up lib , I have now replaced the BBC 1st Violins with the ARO 1st as they are more playable and sound even better , maybe 1st violins and this cello is all you need to give the BBC the edge and freshness
Sounds very good! Glad to see the price drop also. I though legato allregro was the best artic from V1, hopefully the Celli leg allegro is just as good!
Does anyone know how to control the dynamic and expression in fl studio I know it has a built in dynamic thing in the piano roll but it doesn't work for spitfire libraries
Thanks, Guy, great work, sir. Many thanks. These cellos are wonderful, as is almost everything Spitfire does, but...COST? My thoughts: If you can't impress directors, etc, with the standard Abbey Road One library, then you are not going to be any more impressive with more libraries. Don't forget, The Beatles made Sgt. Pepper's on two 4 track machines. It really is about your talent, not your extensive Spitfire investment. My advice to any potential buyers/composers out there is, yes, buy more stuff BUT from the money you have made "selling" your music. I own BBCSO Core, (excellent background canvas work) I supplement this with Albion One, Spitfire Chamber Strings, Solo strings, Symphonic Woods and Brass, which all have close mics and good legato leads. All in that is just under 3 grands worth. (without my pianos) And I want for nothing. I can deliver work, out of the box, for delivery to the public or for excellent quality sketches for an orchestra. And here is the most important thing: I know my libraries really well, how to work quickly with them to be as bombastic or as gentle and detailed as I like without having to learn a new band every time Paul or Chris need to make another payment on their yacht! (I do love those guys). It really isn't about having expensive libraries.
Take care Guy, only play it softly .. we don't want you to get a heart attack 😢❣
I absolutely love you and your videos Guy. Hard to tell if it's the library quality, if you didn't have the muse this day or if you just didn't enjoy it. But the strings in this demo sound bad. 😔 This is literally the first time when I felt bad listening to the final piece. Hope everything is well!
Excellent as always! I notice you are back on the NI keyboard, rather than the Arturia. I tried both, but ended up with the Arturia Keylab 88 Mk2. Which do you prefer?
Arturia is in the main studio NI S88mk2 in the shed and S61 Mk3 on the mobile rig!
@@ThinkSpaceEducation you know you're a proper composer/producer when you have more midi controllers than pairs of underwear
@@jstew512 or when you have a "main studio...shed and...mobile rig"! LOL
Am also considering a replacement for my ancient but still very serviceable Peavey DPM C8. What did you prefer in the Arturia over the NI S-88?
So I just bought these cellos - Pro version... can't say I have explored everything, but I loaded up the different legato samples from both this and BBCSO, and frankly I prefer BBCSO so far. Also tried staccato and spiccato on each with the same result. These cellos seem to be recorded at a very low level, and don't have seem to have much bite at the bottom end. I suppose I will need to play with the mic positions but it seems a little tame out of the box, and nothing I have heard so far makes me think they are worth the 100GB of disk space... let alone the money. Will keep at it though!
That phone keeps ringing me too!! lol
I did feel the Gandalf reference 😄
I love your videos Guy, but can I recommend getting a 4k video camera? That would elevate your material as well.
I use an Atem setup which really speeds up the workflow but is only 1080
Let me know what you think!
Pricing is better on this section.
Percussion does not have release control, like violins and cellos do, right?
What is the volume of your computer set to?
I'm a little bit split. I have the ABR orchestra one collection and ABR two. Would you think it's worth the upgrade?
Do you need cellos separately? If not, then you’re fine. Do you prefer the orchestra with each instrument section or ensembles? That’s the difference
It depends what else you have - if you don't have the rest of the orchestra, then BBCSO might be a better investment?
0:23 Some audio problems in this video. Mic is overmodulating on the commentary.
Hi!
"Celli" is absolutely fine as the plural. Very classy. Well, provided you also say "viole" instead of "violas" it is.
And "violini".......I wonder why "celli" is the one Italian plural a lot of people go to in the string section, whereas the others are almost always anglicized
maybe your muse was actually an Amuse Bouche? LOL. Always love your videos Guy. Never ever change!! :)
The Crow Hill Company's new VST is lovely.
Ill check it out
phrases libraries are kind of useless in scoring you have no control over the direction or key lol
Except you do have control with this vst. ... lol. Fixed that. @@RemmyMusic1

Sounds fantastic, but watching this video hurt my eyes.
I’ve tried to ignore the comments on the UI changes, but this video highlighted just how terrible that white text contrast is in Cubase 13, it literally glows off the screen on camera here!
Welcome in 2002, VSL is proud to present its Strings library.
Why does the sound get so horrible around 6:55?! It starts to sound like a very shitty library while in the first 5 minutes the sound is normal and amazing. :D
Another strings library. Innovation seems to be overrated 😉 But as usual a very entertaining video!
Does anyone know if cubase elements 13 has sidechaining PLEEEEEEASE!?!?!
Here's an idea (might be stupid though so feel free to ignore it, I won't be offended! 😂):
When you complete every VST on this particular Spitfire line you can try and combine all the compositions into one (?) 😛
There's an alarm going off in my wallet. Its saying danger danger, risk of more money being spent on instrument libraries!
No purchase from me untill the AROOF Legato High Strings are released.
Its Chell Eye
as far as I can tell, playing divisi triggers 'everyone' - that is a shame. Nice creaky chair you've got there
I'm done with Spitfire Audio. Abbey road 2 was a scam. I don't have money to waste on "PROducts" that are buged and crap with no support while customers asking for basic fixes !
This is one of the worst string libraries I've ever heard. It's crazy how people are fooled by the packaging.
Really ? What’s the best them, These are the most playable Strings I have ever owned ! And as a lover of the John Barry sound the tone is epic as well
@@AndyGrayedout Go check Performance Samples Vista 2 demos.
@@AndyGrayedout don't pay attention to him, he just wants attention
Yawn! More overpriced orchestral sounds with problematic stereo imaging. What about creating new sounds? These 'media' scores are all sounding the same,
What is that midi controller with faders?
