You say that like they aren’t rare? The amount of bio mass it takes to make a norn or a titan is enough to construct a new hive ship. Losses on this battlefield is enough to make a new hive fleet. Not to mention it takes the better part of a decade for a bio titan to grow hatch from an egg and grow. To maturity. I can only imagine it being longer for the Norns who are far more versatile and Intelligent, not to mention that it takes longer to make psychic bio forms

I don´t even know the rules of this Tabletop. But I am watching nearly every episode, just because you guys are representing the Warhammer universe as good as it can be done. I love u all
Nids army is designed to score points, not killed masses of vehicles and marines. If there had been 6 tyranofexes with rupture cannons, 6 excocrines, few units of 6 zoanthropes they would have done much better. Tervigons were a waste of points with that many guant units and they also gave the marines a free tripling of their army rule which was clearly not needed. Mawlocks would have been great with their 12" AOE too.
Love to see this many Tyranids on a table, and what a game! Seeing my precious Hierophant take 12 damage from the Lion was soul-crushing, though. Big bug should’ve tanked!
Wait, so Space marines got to use up to three Oath of the Moments per turn, but Tyranids got no buff to Shadow in the Warp? And the Norns had no chance to use their defensive rule because there were no objective markers, so they just got shot off the board. As a bug fan this was a bit disappointing. Cool to see happen though I never felt like the Tyranids had a chance.
Can appreciate the criticism on balance from the viewpoint of a bug fan. We had talked at length about the game scenario and rules amongst all the players and ultimately and admittedly we are not game designers and our collective goal was to have fun at the table and hopefully the audience has fun while we are all having fun. Things are not perfect and we will try to make improvements every time we do a show.
@@PlayOnTabletop Thank you for the consideration! I did enjoy the match, and thought it was a great idea for a narrative. I'm sure it took forever to actually record, so making the mission easier was certainly a good call from a sanity perspective. Right now however, nids are point for point worse than space marines in combat of any form, and instead rely on using our powerful scoring options to even stay partial relevant. With scoring in this match being determined by what is more or less a who-kills-more game, I unfortunently think the nids loose this battle ~90% of the time (even without three Oath of the Moments, though that certainly didn't help). Add in the fact that Tyranid anti-armor is mostly melee, most space marine armor is ranged, and the Tyrnaids are encouraged to stand still and NOT advance towards the gun line... it doesn't look good for the bugs. I'm sure a lot of people won't care too much about any of this, but as someone who plays a lot of bugs vs marines, I knew this was a lost cause the moment the game started. Fixing this sort of balance problem is hard with how the codex is designed, but maybe letting the bugs do something similar to what the marines were doing would have helped? Give any Behemoth paint jobs (and therefore most of the big beasties) Crusher Stampede rules, and the Leviathan models Synaptic Nexus rules, as well as two Shadow in the Warps to help boost damage via Nurolictors and all the other rules that care about battleshocks. Or just giving the nids considerably more points to play with, though that is a slippery slope (and less interesting for the layman if Tyranids do win, because then it just seems like they had an unfair advantage to). No matter what though, I must say any game that has 8000 point of bugs running around is a win in my book, even if it's not a win on the table.
Fantastic battle report, amazing content as usual, wifes been waiting for me to come downstairs after putting kids to bed. Pretended i was asleep just to finish this.
Poor white scars, they just got hammered but did their job as the vanguard well. That ATV squad on the left flank did some major work, taking down or significantly wounding some major monsters with one of them actually making it through to the end. Pour one out for the repulsor hero too.
I would suggest a game - Imperium vs Deamons, Orks, or Tyranids. 1000 pts Guardsman with 500pts of Sisters of Battle (starting on table) and 500pts Space Marine (everthing in reservers). You can multiple points by 2 for larger game.
Oh lord, what’s next? A full chapter of space marines against a massive chaos incursion? That’s probably impossible for one table but would still be sick as hell
Fun watch, but this game perfectly showcases just how bad a spot Tyranids are in right now. Even with the advantage of only having to defend their deployment zone to win they got essentially tabled in 4 turns in an 8000 point game. The norns only killed a couple of units here and there and the biotitan killed a wounded lion and a wounded dreadnaught. Also shows how unbalanced 40k is in general in big games like this. Without tons of terrain to hide behind going first is such a huge advantage. I really hope if and when GW releases apocalypse for this edition it has alternate activations for shooting.
The main reason why I don't play 40k anymore is purely because whoever shoots first has such an enormous advantage. What do I do to eke out a win if my opponent just immediately rolls well and devastates my army before I get a chance to fight back?

We don't have all the Space Marine chapters available at the studio and hopefully as our collection grows we can do something more with the Raven Guard
A mission with the phased reinforcements of the home guard garrison, reinforcing guard regiments, then reinforcing space marines/SoB/AdMech defending against a massive nid force would be awesome. Do a huge battle where Nids respawn fully for the first 3 turns. On the other hand the defenders start with like 500 points of guard on the table with no tanks, only infantry and heavy weapons. Then 1000 points of reinforcing guard come in with no restrictions on turn 2, then turn 3 additional reinforcements come in with Astartes, Sisters, or Mechanicus and reinforcing dead guard. The nids start at the front of the table with the guard pretty close to them. Then the deployment zone for reinforcements changes based on held objectives. As long as the guard holds the forward drop zone, they can deploy straight to the front line. If it gets taken, they deploy at the 2nd line. If the objective at the 2nd line gets taken, they are pushed all the way back to the back of the board. For stealth organisms, I think it would be fair if they could only deploy in the active reinforcement zone, but not further up the table. As for turn order, I'd hope for guard to get at least 1 shooting phase before the nids get into melee, but at the same time, the nids need a chance to get on to that deployment zone, which would ideally be 2 movement phases, or the deployment of a stealth organism. Victory for the nids would be holding the final objective at the bottom of turn 5 or holding the bottom objective for 1 full round. A cool alternate rule would be for the nids to have a chance to shoot down incoming reinforcements, choosing to roll long range attacks against "shuttles" as they are coming in with shuttles being a custom unit. Any unit reinforcing from a destroyed shuttle comes in with half wounds.
