    Thorough lecture looking at the probability distribution for Fermi-Dirac statistics. You don't need to watch the preceding two lectures in which the distribution is derived to understand.

    seriously, fire my professor and hire a guy like this who is willing to spend more time to explain a concept than just a few minutes. i hate how college is structured such that professors only explain things for like 10 minutes max. why am I paying so much money for so much less of the professor's time than i got for free in high school!!!

    Even if I read 100 books I won’t understand as much as listening to 1 such lecture on this topic.

    At 22:08 why do we run out of both the available states and the number of particles filling those states together? Why should this happen?

    At 29:26 why is it so that at any temperature higher than 0K the probability of occupancy of Fermi level is constant 0.5?

    • @akashshful
      @akashshful 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just look at the formula for the probability of occupancy. When you put E = Fermi energy in that formula, the probability is 0.5 regardless of temperature, except at 0K.

    The USA has 50 states, does that mean it has 50 particles with probability that each state has one particle?

    • @boldgold4855
      @boldgold4855 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If "energy states" is what you mean by 50 states in USA , then-
      -Earth is the system having many possible energy levels(countries)
      -USA is one of them, India is another and so on.
      -Both are not at same level
      -For fermions or considering US citizens obeying FD statistics,this is what is meant by USA having 50 states-> each of 50 states can only have 1 citizen(particle) max.
      -There may be a state not having any citizen on account of not having enough citizens.
      -But there can't be more than one.
      As far as probability is concerned, it depends on if there is a choice(only if citizens are less than 50). You can choose whichever state you want based on your liking.

      Funny you say that... Because I usually listen to Dr. Haridoss at 1.25 speed... :-)
      The very purpose of having the lecture as a video is that you can take it at your own pace... Try pausing the video, and replaying a segment again, if need be as long as you understand that portion... Of course, you need to go through such trouble if and only if you have to 'learn' the concepts for furthering your knowledge or applications... If you are a casual viewer, than you can simply skip to the videos you like to watch! Have a nice day!

    It is Pauli, not poly! Overall good but repeating the same statements over and over again is somewhat annoying.

    • @AkshayVasant
      @AkshayVasant 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Minho Kim it’s called having an accent. He writes it always as Pauli. And the repeating was for students like me, who take time to understand!
