Africa hosts the largest number of global international migrants. The surge in international migration into Africa has been emersed in the last couple of years.. Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo declared and formally launched the “Year of Return, Ghana 2019” for Africans in the Diaspora, giving fresh impetus to the quest to unite Africans on the continent with their brothers and sisters in the diaspora.
Meet the Richardson's who migrated from the UK with their entire family to Ghana a year and a few months ago.. They graced this episode of The Diaspora transition sharing their experience and how it has been so far and how coming to Ghana has been the best decision ever.. Dentaa finds out about their journey, how they manage to home school their children, pros and cons, and balancing it with their business (DestinationAfrica)..
DestinationAfrica is an international empowerment program designed to empower the next African generation to create, invent, and impact the world they live in. The program is designed to establish a close bond between parents and children and provide a holistic educational experience through fun, games, and competitions. This program offers the following:
    • Language (Twi)
    • Leadership Skills
    • African History
    • Critical Thinking
    • Public Speaking
    • Entrepreneurship
    • African Cooking
    • Music & Dance

Watching my son treated as a third class citizen in US made me move us back to Kenya when he was 7. He's now back in the US and 30 years old. Coming back to Kenya was the best decision I made for both my son and myself. See how these children are thriving. Mine thrived and now is an IT consultant happy and well adjusted.

Wonderful to see parents who have self-esteem and make it their job to instill pride in their children and their culture. It's so disappointing to see Africans who have no culture beyond food and dancing, yet will never be accepted no matter if they embrace all of the western cultures.

It's so satisfying to see the kids speak Twi fluently. It's appalling to see even kids in Ghana not able to speak the language because their parents think it's too local to speak their own language. Good job to the parents! They're doing amazing, and it's seen in the way their kids speak and behave!

I have so much respect for the Father when said, “ I wanted my children’s names whenever they did something or any accomplishment or it if it was etched …..I want them (people) to know that it was a Ghanaian.”
I’m AA and I see a lot of migrants doing great things in the States and the UK but it will be recorded as Black American or Black British History for example. He’s smart and he knows there is nothing in those spaces (countries) that foster foreign ethnic culture. In fact you lose it every generation.

Michael nailed it - the honesty factor with folks back home. Ghana will be a G9 country if we can nail that - professionalism just like we nail friendliness.

Good madam Dentaa for clarifying the young girls hiccups...was a bit concerned 😟 when I started 👀🙈ing her shaking from her chest every 20 seconds. Beautiful family and I see they believe in 50/50 half and half LOL little boy looks like Mom and the little girl looks like dad. And I bet she's a daddy's girl, because I look so much like my dad and I was definitely a daddy's girl. He and my mom was married for 50 plus years before their demise. And they did 50/50 the girls look like Dad and the boys look like Mom. And my brothers was definitely Mama's Boys and she kept those 5 daughter-in-laws on their toes jumping to make sure that their houses was always maintained and the grandchildren was well nurtured....LOL my mom's grandfathers and grandmothers were slaves. I didn't understand it when I was younger why she was nosing into my brothers family busines, but the more i learn about my Nigerian culture as an adult the more I understand my mom's behavior.... God rest her soul. But I have decided to live in Ghana. You guys are a beautiful family and I'm glad you made it back to the motherland for good...I'm proud of you my brother and sister. I will be leaving Babylon to bring my slave ancestors DNA to the motherland. I'm working on trying to leave hopefully this year... ✌ & 💛 2 U from California

I did homeschooling because my mom was terminally ill. It was the best thing we did as a family. My family are educators....exactly, it takes education out of a building and everything where becomes a learning.....They remind me of what my parents/teachers/ elders were doing, during segregation in the south, we were taught in our schools and churches about who we were, which fortified us against the struggles during . Those of us who had this influence from 1-9 grades were better prepared and more well-rounded. Those who entered integration at elementary levels, don't know who they are and therefore, couldn't pass this information on to their children. I believe this is part of the limited ability and sensitivity to not be able to address the challenges and make the emotional move to Africa, even while complaining about the treatment in America. I'm 70 and looking for avenues to come home. I have a sickle cell trait that can be traced back to Ghana, possibly the Ewe people.
