There's one attack that I saw photos of where the woman was missing a chunk of her back, buttocks , and leg. All from a quick bite , shake, and release from a Bull Shark. She also survived. It's crazy how soft we are compared to those teeth and the bite strength of sharks. We may as well be made of soft ice cream.

Hey Hal, my brother lives in Nova Scotia & we've both been following the sharks on the Ocearch Tracker app. In the past few years, the GWs have been hanging out in NS waters longer & longer before heading back South. Last year, a few of them were still actively pinging in NS waters up until early December. A group of marine biologists out of Dalhousie University (NS) have also been studying GWs, specifically focussed on their behaviours in NS waters. I attended an amazing session they did in Lunenburg, NS, where they showed a film of their research adventures and info sharing they do with the Ocearch group. Turns out they discovered that the GWs breed in Southern US waters, then head North to NS to pup. Fascinating stuff 🌊🦈💙 Love listening to your channel❣️

Hi, Hal! Many thanks for another great vid. Good advice, Hal, about staying away from the biting end of a shark. When I was a kid, way back in the early sixties, a neighborhood boy & his brothers were at the beach for a day of frolic. They found a 'dead' shark on the beach. Well, being boys, they began poking the shark with a stick, and suddenly the shark raised up and bent itself nearly in half & chomped down on the ankle of the youngest boy (it was a fairly small sand shark). But, it did considerable damage to the little boy's small ankle. He ended up having 2 surgeries to repair his Achilles Tendon. Yes, dead sharks DO bite!

I grew up in the gulf coast of Mississippi and my family would go camp on the barrier islands and one night I decided I wanted something to eat from the boat, it was a several meter walk through about hip high water (on a 10-12 yr old girl) and few feet of a swim in deeper water to the boat. As I shuffled out, I always slightly dragged my feet because I was aware of rays and horseshoe crabs I saw about 5ft in front of me to my right a dorsal fin and about 6 feet behind that the tip of a tail fin…. I stopped and watched it pass from right to left in front of me. I slowly and very very quietly shuffled myself back to shore. Decided getting a snack wasn’t worth being a snack. I was really into sharks in my youth and I remember being certain it was a hammerhead shark, I’m assuming it must have been the dorsal that made me think that. Of course with the blissful ignorance of youth I was back swimming the next day. 😂☠️

Back in 1975 we body surfed as did so many people and no one got attacked by sharks. It wasn't even a thought in our minds. But now it's different and we don't get into the ocean anymore. We were living in Wilmington NC in 2014, 1015 and 2016 and went to the beaches in that area and people were being attacked way too much. ! Black tip and Bull sharks mostly. It's crazy now. More people and sharks in the water. Sharks coming very close to the beach where people are in the water.

it's weird how they definitely do target specific individuals. My theory? They go for women first for fat content. Not that there aren't plenty of fat men out there (*ducks shoes being thrown at monitor). It's just percentage wise, women have more fat. Boobs. O_O This might not show on the stats because again - there are probably fewer women in the ocean. Just look at the surfing community. Sausage fest. Numbers are rising, but historically, women didn't normally go into the ocean so that will skew the results.
when they go for kids, it's tragic. But with those I figure those are generally the juveniles in the shallow water, and they just want something they can easily carry off. Perhaps even just practicing their skills. Although it honestly can't be a great meal for them.
other theories - those damn spear fishermen! in those cases I like to think that it's just the shark saying, "Hey! That was the one I was going for. Very well. I'll just bite you then."
last one (for now) - anyone who's... discharging bodily fluids.
And I learned all of this (or at least the basis for some of my theories) from the one and only Hal. :)
      I feel smarter. :D

So I go get my plate and load it up sit down start cracking. I get to my second claw and I started to crack a knuckle joint and the claw clamped down on my finger. I screamed real quick and flung the lobster across the table cuz it scared the crap outa me. Everyone paused for a sec then was dying laughing it was absolutely hilarious😂

WooHooooo! Finally Norfolk Island gets a mention !!! About time - we have the biggest Tiger Sharks in the world - they hang around all year around because we throw our dead cows in the water as well as do shark feedings every day when the fishermen clean their catches. Some of the Tigers like Matilda is about 18' or almost 6m long - she comes around Rocky point and Headstone and if you stand your ground when spearfishing you can give her chin a rub and so long as she gets a fish when you finish up... shes a giant puppy fish.... i'll have to go-pro some footage for Hal - if he tells the What were You Thinking shark attack here on Norfolk back in 1797... first recorded shark attack in Australian waters

6.5 to 9.5 ft GWS you said 3 to 4 meters. I'm not good with meters but I think that's closer to 2 to 3 meters. Good video regardless, thanks again.
Edit: Reunion island again, sheesh. I'd be interested to see how many total attacks at each individual spot have happened there, second beach, New Smyrna, and other hot spots. Might be cool to have a video on each individual hotspot covering each attack so far that you've covered and then seeing all of the locations marked on a map or something.
