You gotta get used to catching raw backdashers, remember if they raw backdash there's some extra endlag, so you can get a free m1 (occasionally even an m2) if you front dash after them immediately, or in some cases, if you keep walking forwards and your m1s or m2s have enough range, you can get that free hit without front dashing.
Fought a shotgun user that backdash like a LOT, wasn't a nice experience at all especially since I was using smash and it's hard catching them off guard. I managed to win though for some reason but that tactic is still annoying as fuck
