This was the Gakku Music Festival in Almaty, and was attend by an estimated 150,000 people. The concert was 6 hours long with many performers. Dimash was last to perform, and everyone stayed to hear him sing. Hard to believe the D8 was spontaneous, and not planned, but it was.

I got to ask Dimash personally about that note and he verified it was spontaneous! Who else but Dimash could get so deep into their performance, and be so skilled as to go for that note, during a live concert? He is absolutely phenomenal!

You know that second or two of silence we see on the video when Dimash is waving the mic right before he hits the D8? I've wondered if it's truly silence, like he tried, but nothing came out for a sec, or if he really did hit a tone that can be heard only with advanced technology or only by a dog or dolphin. Your thoughts??

Watching other live performances of this song , if you look at the same part of the song during his performance, he tries to hit that note then as well .. the ones I’ve seen , it didn’t come out when he tried . But it did in Gakku .. it was awesome .. just saying it doesn’t appear it was spontaneous.. it appears as a part of the song and either works well or sometimes does not ..
@@ericteal7118 in other performances he sometimes does a whistle too but it's not the same note, it's lower.
Maybe spontaneous, but Dimash can sound higher if done in the studio like other singers, but Dimash never overdo things, everything is done on stage.

@@yani1353 No shit, in studio you can do a 1000 takes of whatever part of the song. LIve you only have one chance. Thats why ALL bands and artists sound much better in studio (album) than live. Because if they mess up they can just try again until its perfect
Music has no limits because it's infinite, having said that the highest note in a piano is C8 so the D8 is outside the range of the piano.

Another great reaction, as always. Dimash set a record for the highest note ever sung in a live concert, during this 2017 live performance. It is his now-famous D8. There were approximately 150,000 fans in attendance. Dimash wrote “Unforgettable Day” himself. During the performance, he made certain to erases any doubt that this was indeed anything other than a true live performance by moving his make quickly from side to side.
Dimash not only hit a D8; he did a glissando and held it for ~5 seconds, even adding vibrato to it.
The Guinness Book of Records lists the highest note ever produced by a male as an E8. That was done in a studio, where the singer was just trying to hit the note. He held the note briefly after a proper warm-up and several attempts.
Dimash has sung many whistle notes in the 7th & 8th octave in other live performances, but the above is his highest note to date. Because of his incredible range, over seven octaves, and his vocal flexibility, he is able to make the impossible look easy. Dimash is not only considered by many to be the best singer in the world, but he is truly on another level. His voice seems limitless, and no matter how many performances of his you watch he will always surprise us with something new.

Check out Drunken Concubine + Diva Dance. He incorporate a high whistle in this duet with Li Yugang....who sings female vocal parts in the Chinese Opera. Naysayers say he’s just showing off....but with Dimash he puts it to use. He has done these notes since a teen and always does it with expression. Dimash is a passionate person. I think here at Gakku it fulfilled an expression for him. Sometimes he does it because the fans get a kick out of it.

There is NOT a singer alive that can do everything Dimash can do. But us Dimash DEARS love him for more than that. He is the nicest, kindness, human being you will ever meet. He is not a diva in any way. During concerts he stops to thank everyone for coming. He hugs people, shakes peoples hands. When asked about it in an interview he said, my mother and father said You must always give back for what you have been given. Gakku TV is a Kazakh music channel, which organizes the annual music festival "The Voice of Gakku" in the city of Almaty. In 2017 Dimash sang there in front of an audience of 150,000 people.
Dimash has several songs, where he sings whistle notes in the 7th octave. One of them is "Unforgettable Day" (only in some of the performances of the song), another - "The Diva Dance" (in Shenzhen concert and at the Chinese 2020 Spring Festival Gala (the video is "Drunken Concubine +Diva Dance"). He has sung in public a note in the 8th octave ( D8, off the piano) only in the Gakku peformance. There are other singers, who have sung whistle notes, but most of them not so high (e.g. Mariah Carey's highest notes are in the 7th octave).

The Gakku Music Festival is outdoor and there were I believe 140 thousand people there most to see Dimash who headlined the festival in 2017 singing 5 or 6 songs and the fans waited for hours to see him. Gakku is also a music TV station in Kazakhstan where this festival is held annually. Dimash famously sang the highest note ever performed live, a D8 for 5 seconds complete with vibrato. He did it spontaneously and so easily so he can most likely go higher 😁❤
Also never hold back from doing the same song from different performances as he always makes it different, a great example is the song Know, he sings it sometimes with lyrics, sometimes with none at all just from the sound of his voice, but always different each way at all performances. With our without words always changes it somewhat. Dimash is a musical marvel, it cannot be denied he always knows exactly what to do to keep our interest. OK he is a wizard 😁💖

That was HIM. He had just recently learned to do that, at will. Before, it would happen and surprise him, but he always wanted to be able to control it---As he did here! Oh, that was fun, watching you when he did that! Yes, that's the D8! So much fun to share that with you two! I'm an 80 yr. old great-great grandmother who discovered Dimash about 2 years ago, and he has made such a difference in my life! My son is going to take me to his first concert when he comes back to the U.S. after the pandemic. Try to plan on going to it, if you can. Once the tickets go on sale you have to act fast, to get some. I don't know how much they'll be. If I see you there, I'll know you, though you won't know me. My name is Holly and I'll be with a good-looking black man, my eldest son. If there's time, we should be able to chat a bit. Now, this won't be till probably sometime in 2022.
