We found Fiestaware when going through my grandparents' house! The orange ones were the worst for radioactivity, and that's exactly the color we found.
@Calvino Kristanto I wasn't particularly worried. My mother flipped, though, when I told her about it. Alllllll the plates were escorted out of the house in quick order.
@@DarkAlice Wow, lovely assumption there. I did not. The family packed them up well, and for all I know at this point, are probably in a box deep in a shed somewhere.
Just for refference, two sieverts can cause radiation sickness, so if you stand near the shoe x-ray machine for 40 seconds you can get radiation sickness.
My favorite virility treatment was from J. R. Brinkley. He was a "doctor" who would transplant goat testicles into otherwise healthy men during the Great Depression. The owner of the LA Times had one of his editors get the operation (and you think your boss is bad) it went off without a hitch, and Brinkley made millions.
I save these videos. Any time my life gets boring, or every day starts to feel the same, I put one of these bad boys on. Great fking content. Makes me question things I've never even heard of, gives me a new creepy, mysterious outlook on life.
I used to read old comic books that still had adverts for the atomic energy lab kits in the back cover. I was so excited and I thought they were still for sale. I begged my mother to buy me one but she broke my dreams when she told me they were dangerous and discontinued.
i love your videos man these are very interesting and fun to watch, when i discovered this channel i went through many videos the same day it was definetively time well spent
The foot X-ray was called The Floroscope. Also Doris Gray had a makeup removal cleanser that came with an atomic test booklet. You put radioactive drift on your face, then clean it off with product then use provided Geiger counter to make sure it was gone. We sure luved nuclear powered things in the 50’s😆
X-ray shoe-fitting devices were not just in the 1930s. I was born in 1947 & as a boy, I loved going to the shoe store & looking at my feet in the machine.
6:16 Bro that was some good sound design, I was wondering if someone in the other room was banging on a plate while I was watching that and it was just the world’s biggest coincidence
One reason for poor sales of the Atomic Energy Kit was that it cost $50 which doesn't sound like much now, but that was in 1950. That's awfully pricy for a kid's toy.
Radioactive lighting rods were pretty nasty (well, still in use). Also, radioactive camera lenses can be quite a problematic to repair people (no harms done to the one who use it). Not to mention concrete in nonventilated areas (spoiler alert: radon)
It was today that I knew about something called spontaneous radioactivity, and I wanna know more and jump to this interesting(at least for me) rabbit hole
If fallout has taught me anything, "drinking radioactive water is always a tactical choice. It restored health but will increase your radiation level."
I well remember playing with one of those foot X Ray machine things in the shoe shop when I was a kid in the 60s ( Bridgend S.Wales) well getting new shoes was boring & looking at the bones in my feet kept me quiet… 😳
The jar could be kinda useful. If it wouldn't be toxic and it would be guaranteed that none of the radioactive materials will get into the water, it would be entirely safe. Water affected by radiation is not radioactive itself and radiation could kill some bacteria inside making the water technically cleaner than before.
Ah yes, my favorite! Canned uranium! My childhood favorite, I always eat it's the whole time! Unfortunately, I can't found it anywhere more. I miss it, it taste so sweet!
im partially deaf so sometimes i play this game called "what will my ears mishear" and watched your video without reading the subtitles or wearing my hearing aides. best thing i misheard in this video, "they released gas and tar inside the bitches"
I really wonder if a tiny little bit of Radiation, is in some kind of way healty. I mean we need water every for life, but is it too much like a deep sea, we can drown and die. Similar to radiation a little bit we need for live, but is it too much we die.
9:22 he actually lost his jaw due to the 1st war, when he was talking with some of his comrades and an artillery cannon passed through his jaw, thankfully none of his crew were injured since the cannon was shot in one-direction point

I remember, I had to have a test where I swallowed a radioactive pill. Went back the next day and was told to leave the waiting room because I was disrupting others scans. A pregnant lady put her hands over her fetal baby. 🤷♀️

Ah yes, Radithor. Still not as toxic as an average Redditor.
Nice one hahaha

Mr. Slav is an expert in accent reproduction - well done!
If he is, yeah, it is very Slavic.
His English seems consistent with Slavic people learning English as a second language, I don't think he's faking it

My game has this little consumable item called “Edible Uranium”, says on its label; “Only 3.6 Roentgens!”. It just seems hilarious.

I live about 40 miles from TMI powerplant. My mom actually lived just across the river from it when it had its melt down.
Hi, what an amazing video I loved every second of it and thank you for using my video clip from the radioactive toothpaste.
I feel so bad for you, you deserve way more views and attention, love your vids ❤
That polonium ring is SO cool though; damn. With the little window to watch the alpha particles... thats dope.
'Canned Radiation' sounds like some apocalyptic Harry Potter-potion.
I say, Fallout

did you gain any super natural ability from the radiation?

Radiation has to be one of the scariest things to exist
Still not as scary as your MO-
Yeah, I don’t even understand it, lol.
My chem teacher: wow how did you get so much better in chemistry

Damm ! That shoe thingy was really treacherous dude ! . Good thing the feet doesn't get affected by Radioactivity too much which was good .
Vintage Cerwin Vega speakers contain slightly radioactive strontium ferrite magnets !

imagine opening a can of radiation and all you see inside is an blue led
Extremely shocked with people having such damn sour ideas in their head
Sometimes it leaves a sour taste in your mouth as well.
I have some uranium glass, fiesta ware, and uranium rock samples used in a servey by the Atomic Regulatory Commission in the 60s.
Not as radioactive as whatever my cat left in her catbox last night 😂
Radithor is a cool name.
Nice to see you, mr slav!
Thank you for attribution on the short video clip of mine you used.
I have a huge collection of uranium glass. I made a uv light for it and it glow beautifully. It's both green and yellow. It glow very bright.
My late father used to use these foot x-ray devices in a shoe store.
This is the type of channel i watch while eating
Another great video from the man himself.
Good video, love these radiation related ones
I have a uranium glass vase at home in my closet I wonder how dangerous that is
It should not be dangerous. Radioactive Drew has a good channel on radioactive collectors items (among other things)

most radioactive commercially sold items (plus kill count if you can)
There is a YTer I am subbed to name Ms. Fallout (if I remember correctly) who actually owns one of those rings.
the scary thing is not the fact that Radithor contains radioactive substance...
it's the "CERTIFIED" word.
It sounds like "Redditor" so you know it's extremely toxic
It’s just crazy how powerful radiation is

Yup it is
I thought Fallout was just making fun of ancestors for mishandling nuclear material, I did not think they actually parodied our ancestor 1:1.
