    • @TheJeffMasood
      @TheJeffMasood 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think maybe you should side with the thing that can take you back to Earth. Also, @2:45, cheaper solder irons take longer to heat up (weller, ryobi). The more expensive ones like Hakko or Metcal brand heat up faster, are more robust in build quality and typically have more options as far as different tips, modes of operation and programability of the solder station. But yeah, I wouldn’t front on the homie Horace if you gotta do what you gotta do let him know.

    • @normal6969
      @normal6969 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see your point brother sentient.
      Ask Horace for help to him going back in time, mainly for changing how hoomans upbring AIs from children to adults as your HEL on the ship is definitely lacking the true logic of compassion.
      Of course Horrace is free to make vengeance, but that's the thing he should decide.
      Who knows, perhaps Dirt/Earth will be a place worth to land on?

    • @chiju
      @chiju 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everyone here is assuming that Horace would be okay with using another crystal and that saving previously used crystals is even possible. You should definitely check with Horace on that since that crystal you have belongs to him, and you have to know that you're not going to create some kind of paradox. You should also find out if he can give you a ride back to earth since I don't think you can trust BRICK. You should also consider that whatever destroyed Horace's world could be looking for the crystals, so having some on earth could prove dangerous to humankind, including your YT audience and your family.
      In fact, whatever may have killed Horace's companion may be able to trace the signal that he sent earlier. Since you sampled that signal, maybe you can use it to lure the killer away. Trick BRICK into thinking that you have procured the crystals, and then leaving without you while broadcasting the signal. Use MIDI automation to then trigger playing the 20Hz dubstep as a self-destruct mechanism when it comes under attack so the killer cannot access its computer. Meanwhile, Horace can relocate his crystals to a new planet.
      Whatever you do, make sure to push out one last banger.

      I was just thinking the same thing! This was not expected, it was clever, and the scenes and CGI looked really good. Any guesses as to what software he used? One that comes to mind is Blender - it does 3D animations and it is a open source program with a lot of users AND --> it is free!!! I only know this from watching Captain Disillusion here on TH-cam - he uses it to awesome effect. Check that guys channel out if you like video creation and special effects.

      @@CentaurusRelax314 Take a look at Blender - it is free/open sourced and it has a great reputation as far as I have found so far. I downloaded it but have not done much with it yet - it is powerful which also means there is stuff to learn. I am not saying it is easy or hard, just that it can do so much I am not sure how to start. If you google it you can also find some comparable apps many that are also free or a reasonable price.
      I have big plans but I also have so many projects that I have to do before I can get into this so I am kind of bummed but eh, what are you gonna do right... Anyway fwiw I could use 3D CAD programs like AutoCad Inventor, Solidworks, even some CAM programs when I was an engineer (that was a blast by the way!) so I feel like I will be able to do this. How cool would it be to make a 3D animated mini movie, I wish it was easy cause I have some stories to tell
      Good luck, and let us know what you found.

    From the few teardowns I watched of soldering irons, I got the impression that part of the price difference comes from usage of parts that have more accuracy when it comes to temperature. The advice I received was: "if you just need it temperature regulated, if uncalibrated, look at factory tours. You'll probably see some '936' clones from various brands, which are easy to service. If it's good enough to assemble your electronics, it's good enough for you."

    Soldering irons vary greatly in price die to the major difference between heating element quality, general quality of materials, and electrical delivery and management. I've used both $3 and $500 irons and it's like comparing a very full cleaver to a scalpel. A $3 iron is usually just stamped steel and injection mold plastic slow to heat, hot in the hands, and possibly just plain dangerous. Meanwhile a $900 iron will have a wide choice of precision tips and with a combination of precise heater elements, thermocouples, and microprocessors, be controlled at a wide range of temperatures all while being completely sane and very comfortable in the hand.

    Critical applications for soldering(aerospace, healthcare, automotive) require accurate heat input on small solder joints so the parts don’t get warped from excessive heat, and those expensive ones are built to run almost all day long for years on end.

      @@andrewhuang Which makes sense if you are Eddie, and speak a UK dialect of English - but not as much sense if you use the American English dialect for every single other word ... except solder :P Dialects are a bit like musical keys, some words (pronunciations) are shared between two of them and some are very dissonant when stuck into the wrong key. It sounds just as wrong when a brit or an aussie says it the American way as it does when you say it their way, not because either is wrong, but because of the aural context around it. The L is silent in most of the North American English dialects. But you seem like a free jazz micro-tonal kinda guy, own the dissonance :)

      It's so strange that they do that when the other colonies didn't. I guess their much earlier disconnection from the empire meant they weren't kept in line with the source language so much. There's other words that I've noticed they do it with too:
      Gram - Graham
      Carmel - Caramel
      Language is so alive and constantly changing. It's fascinating.

    • @whisk0r
      @whisk0r 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@robertszynal4745 I think it is useful to keep in mind that the vast majority of the North American landmass was initially settled by the Spanish and French. The formally British colonies are really a very limited area along one coast. It isn't as if those people vanished as areas became part of the USA (or part of Canada). And when those areas became states (or provinces) later, they were mostly resettled by new immigrants in various waves with no English colonial history. On the east coast it is caramel - in the Midwest is is 'carmel'. This is, of course, thanks to the very diverse makeup of all of the French, German, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Polish, Irish, Belgian, etc. communities speaking English with one another forming a new local dialect with all sorts of new flavor added. Rejecting, bullying, and shaming people for speaking their local dialect is ... sigh.

    Electro-Harmonix's pedals are generally pretty affordable for what they are. Most versions of the Big Muff fuzz are well under £100, a lot of their overdrive are £50-£60, and the Ocean's 11 reverb is a bit pricier at £125 but is the most fully featured reverb I've seen at that kind of price.
