Hey Andrew, so the +2 and -13 and the other numbers are the difference in cents correct? What does the -32 in brackets mean on the draw flat seven notes? Thank you!
Where can I get a tuning card ? RON'S.? Most Hawaiian bought your complete tuning kit which is very useful at the limited amount I've been able to use it Still trying to figure out about Reger I placement though for me it seems easier just to buy new Reed plates I don't know exactly how you would harvest reads I got bunches of own Reed plates though but a lot of times it seems to be the same notes that tend to go flat over time So I'm not sure how you would go about harvesting reads that you can actually read tune Do you have a video about how to do that
I agree with Ma.l Newtrisson and Michael Feliner. Confused and lost. 0,+2, -13.What’s beating? I’m not putting your video down at all. I’m trying to tune a Special 20 and Meisterklassic. I’ve played for years. A tune comes into my head I work on it until I have it. It used to be a fun easy instrument to play. Any feedback would be appreciated. Or maybe the harmonica is over my head.
Sound waves have a frequency(Hz, or cycles per second). If you play multiple notes together, you want 3rds and 5ths and such, complimentary notes that sound harmonious. But equal temperment(Beginner tuning in this video, 12TET like a basic keyboard or guitar tuning) fudges the numbers a bit to fit into 12 tones. So the notes aren't EXACTLY frequency correct, they've been squashed into the 12 tones we use. Frequency means time, so those tonic/3rds/5ths/etc are slightly out of sync with each other, creating beating(think about it as a ghost note machines can't perceive) We hear it because the connection between our ears and brains is a weird organic interface. You can "hear" a swelling and fading when what SHOULD be a good harmonious mix of notes has imperfections in the sync between notes. That's why he's tuning for chords/octaves. He's putting those notes in sync with each other, which the chromatic tuner would say is out of tune(because the tuner is doing 12TET), You can't perceive a few cents difference in tuning on a single note, but as the two notes get closer to being in sync, the chord sounds "better" and the beating gets fainter/vanishes. Yes, when you scape at the base of the reed, that note vibrates slightly slower(and faster if you scrape the tip of the reed). We rely, not on being able to directly hear these imperceptible changes(to normal people), but on this weird beating that results when they interact.
Hi Andrew. Thanks for your videoes! Is there an affordable harmonica you could recommend with Just Intonation? Currently i use the big river as my day to day harp. Also is the Lee oskar 1910 equal temperment? Thank you very much.

Amazing
This is a great tutorial. Thank you!

I have the full kit but not the card. How can I get it.?
So I guess what I'm asking if I was turning an a note and it was 442 Hz then if I tuned it down -13 it would be 429 Hz?
No, it would be 438Hz. 1 Hz is 4 cents.
I'm confused.... what are the 0, +2 and -13 numbers all about please and why does it matter in what color order you tune the reeds?
