Congratulations on your new homestead. You guys have done an amazing amount of work. I grew up on a horse and cattle farm, and now, at 73 and many years removed from the farm, I have the fondest memories of my years spent there. Should you have children, rest assured that there is NO better way to grow up. I'll be watching.

I am in France for the summer and I just stumbled upon this video. First let me say that you both seem to be such warm and kind people. It makes me happy to see two people who have so much joy and love for animals and living a simple way. This is why I try to spend so much time in France, but I do have a tiny house in Upstate SC not too far from where you likely have your homestead. I do drive through a little stretch of TN often when driving down to SC. People like you are hard to come by. Keep working towards your goal to get your homestead exactly where you want it. You’re off to a great start.

@@TheKraemerLife I know that must seem true, but imagine what it will be like this time next year and so on. Y'all have more acres then a lot of the you tube homesteaders, so that is a Blessing. You might even consider boarding horses or perhaps renting a field for someone to plant hay for some extra income. Or maybe raise some more pigs to sell (remember how hard it was to find piglets this year for both you and Sean). You are doing a great job...and the big things will come in time.

I just wanted to give you a tip.... Grass seed and light soil over instead of hay or straw, if you do not pick up the straw or hay you will open yourself up to more weed germination than grass, believe me, been in the lawn business for over 20 years.. Birds do not eat grass seed they actually help you get rid of weed seeds and if you are laying it for drainage then to let you know it absorbs the moisture from the grass..so you will have to water more often.

Hi! I'm glad I found your videos. You are fun to watch. I hope everything works out well for you. You are doing great clearing land, making animal pens, and acquiring a good variety of animals. Also, you're doing well gardening. Keep up the good work, and it will be fun to see the progress. My husband and I have five acres, several goats, and chickens. We did have a wonderful great Pyrenees guard dog, but old age took him recently. Can't bear to go through that again, so we probably won't get another one. He did keep predators run off. We have a medium-sized garden. I can, freeze, dehydrate lots of veggies. It's a lot of work but very rewarding. Janice from Arkansas USA

I started watching y’all when you were searching for land. I have to tell you, I sure enjoyed this compilation of your homesteading journey. Y’all are absolutely adorable! Please never change into someone that we don’t recognize any longer. Nate’s eagerness to learn, his fun quirkiness and transparency in the face of mistakes is so enjoyable. Katie’s sweetness, her nurturing attitude with the animals, her working alongside Nate and her encouraging nature are super neat. Y’all are just so real and there’s so many of us out here that really appreciate that. Blessings as you continue your journey. Rest assured, so many of us will be right here watching and continuing to cheer you on!💝💝 Love y’all bunches, Angel from Texas😊

This showed up in my feed today. I have copd and use oxygen and only leave the house about once a month. I have all my groceries and anything I need delivered. I absolutely enjoyed this video. It brings the outside world in when I can't get out. I had to quit my job after 32 years because it literally just hit me. One night, I could barely breathe. Went to the emergency room and they said "you have copd" and gave me some inhalers and put me on oxygen. Wow, overnight, everything you thought was life was now gone. I can walk up the stairs and have to sit down for 3 or 4 minutes so my chest quits pounding. But, I am very fortunate to be financially secure and I am alive.
I love watching homestead videos seeing people take basically abandoned property and converting it to their homestead. (I would have gotten goats lol). I got clean 5 gallon buckets and planted tomatoes, red bell peppers and a few other things. All I do was walk out and water them every few days and they all came out bursting in size and flavor. I used to garden. One year I got 100 vidalia onion sets and planted them and they came out great.... growing in Ohio. The guy who sold me those sets closed his store and that's about the time I got sick so quit planting except for buckets.
Biden says that this year he will make anyone who wants solar available and affordable for anyone that wants it for their home. So watch out for that because I am. My electric bill runs about $250 a month, so even if I spent $15k after 5 years it's all free. But we'll see what the affordable prices that will be coming out soon. (sorry I talk a lot sometimes)
Again, what a great video for a time lapse. I could have watched that for 2 hours, good luck.

@@TheKraemerLife I've been on the internet since 1993. I don't use a lot of "apps". venmo, facebook pay, zelle, etc. etc. etc. I've used paypal about 11 years I think. I trust it. Do you give out your paypal email address?
Let me explain something about my opinion about giving a gift versus a present. (I talk a lot, as I said before).
I've helped out family members for over 30 years. Come the holidays, etc. I bought present for all kinds of relatives. Relatives I only see on a holiday and they don't come over or even call. One day, I just decided the hell with it. Why was I following into the old school history of buying for cousin Zeke, Aunt Martha,, even brother John, when I only see them about 3 times a year when they have their hand out for a present. I stopped giving presents out about 8 years ago.I should clarify that. I still buy my mother, sister and 2 nephews and a niece presents at the holidays because they are "family" and not just relatives. I give them money so they can buy what they want.
A gift is something unexpected, totally out of the blue. It could be helping someone out at the grocery store when they are $12 short on their order. It could be giving someone $100 on a Walmart gift card when a neighbor told me someone is truly struggling.
I think more youtube casters should put their paypal info in their "show more" column. I don't do patreon either. For some, they can give $3 or more a month but that's not for me. I like giving a set amount when I think someone deserves a gift to help out, for sharing their content, It's my unexpected gift they see show up to let them know they were at least appreciated and good people. If you would post yours, I think others along the way would donate. Maybe someone wants to donate $5. That means just as much to them as someone who would donate $500 or more. They fell they are interacting yet not "locked in" by patreon or the cups of coffee, which also takes a cut of the donation. Even youtube. I googled that "thanks" button and they keep 30% out of every dollar donated. WOW, that's absolute greed. Again, with paypal, Someone gives you $10 you get $10! It's just something you can think about.

Hello…neighbor… sort of… maybe!!! I live in southeastern Tenn also, have farmed since I was small. We raise mostly cattle. Chickens a little harder. I love watching your place grow and get lovelier and lovelier. It’s also love to see a young couple willing to work as hard as you guys do, and use some good ole common sense with it!!! 25:34 You have probably been told this.. but I’ll yep some more!!😁There are a lot of fox and coyotes in these parts. Where I live, there is also lots of bears. And it can’t be that far from you!! Careful with those lovely chickens and lambs!! We had our chickens in a sturdy barn, turned one of the stalls into a chicken coop. Thought we had it wild animal proof, we thought wrong. It took awhile for the fox and coyotes to discover our chickens, but when they did, we lost them. They dug underneath the walls of the barn. They find a way if there is one! My nephew built a small chicken coop with no way the animals can get to their chickens. If you haven’t yet, think about it. God bless you, and I’ll be a watchin you two!!! I’m a fan!!! An old fan!!!😂❣️🙏🙏🙏

Aww, you guys are so sweet, upbeat, and positive! East TN is beautiful! I lived there for 5 years, worked a sneeze west of Knoxville, and have been trying to get back there ever since we had to leave 26 yrs ago. That part of TN has more than Black Snakes, We would encounter rattle snakes and copperheads in our yard and around the archery tournament trails we would compete at throughout east TN. Adding a goose and guinea hens to the chickens will help protect the chickens. The guineas will feast on all the ticks (well, so will the chickens) but they do not tear up the yard like chickens do, and they and the goose are great alarm systems. They will announce nice and loud if a predator or a stranger comes anywhere near your property. Well worth the investment. The ticks are a serious issue in your parts. We lived in the country, and had a big yard, but still had neighbors fairly close. The ticks were really bad, our poor dogs were infested all the time. We were doing daily inspections, and removal, but they still suffered a lot of tick bites. They also carry Rocky Mt Spotted Fever, things to be familiar with living there. One of our dogs, despite our best efforts, she had a super dense fur, ended up pretty sick and the fur on the top of her head between her ears peeled off like a toupee. We had her under vet care for a long while to get her healthy again. There are also see-ticks. Not sure if that is the proper name for them or not. We had a go with them when we went hunting one day. We are used to hunting in the north eastern states, so we had the right clothes, and bug repellent, etc. never gave ticks a thought, as we did not see any of them on each other when we got out of the woods. Later, I was in the shower, and noticed a black spot where I never had a freckle or mole, upon closer inspection it was a tiny little tick, then I seen another, and another. I guess this is how they get their name see ticks, because if you see one on you you see a hundred, or you wade through a sea of them. I freaked out and basically scratched my whole body head to toe in order to get these critters off of me, even though I could see very well. (I am very nearsighted and do not shower with my glasses on). I then woke hubby up in my freaked out state looking like I was mauled by a cat covered in scratches, telling him about these see-ticks. Turns out he was covered with them also; lesson learned, invest in heavy duty DEET! There are also a lot of black widow spiders in east TN, be careful in your crawl space, and in the corners of your chicken tractor.

Congrats on the homestead. I have to tell you we have chickens and ducks and Hawks. They will get them if you don't have bird netting up. Ours is completely enclosed with fencing and netting above and those buggers find a way in. The only saving grace is they are so freaked out about being stuck they spend all their time trying to figure out how to get out. We usually catch them and get them out. We have not lost one bird. We tried owls, everything, the netting is what worked. If you have crows around feed them peanuts, they will attack the hawks. I put up 8ft 4x4s and added 4ft fencing and attached the netting to the top of that with string criss crossing to hold the netting up so we could walk under it. I used string to weave the netting together where I needed more. We have a very large area for them.
