Good advice for the beginners, sniping is quite a specialized role and many people think it'll be easy with a scope to pick people off but if you don't know what you are doing you'll quickly find yourself getting frustrated
I started with a CQB m4 and an electric p90. My friend sold me the m4 with no problems on it at all it had a few spots of tan from playing but that made it all the better for me I loved it. he let me play as his spotter and for one game he let me try out his aw308. which was inside irish regulations for a 3milligram bb. I loved it but I just hadn't got my mind set on the right tactics yet. after 4 years of training under the belt from the ex military sniper as his spotter, and escort I played 2 games with my own aw308. and I loved because I knew what I was doing and after 9 hours over 3 days setting it up I knew the gun. urban marksmans won't survive with the mindset of a grunt or full auto bandit. and things like following the path as a rural sniper gets you shot. taking steps through shrubbery and hiding where the enemy won't be walking makes all the difference. start with a friend who knows the game and then when you feel like it buy a high power rifle like this one or an L96
big ups! one of the best most thorough gun reviews i've been across, much appreciated. I like the heads up at the end. its good for new softers out there to understand airsoft sniping is a different from the movies and video games. keep up the great work, and Aloha from Hawaii nei.
first thing usually to go on a stock beginner sniper rifle is the piston sear, thats if you havent already tightened the screws into the cheap metal on the barrel.
So true I've seen so many snipers (played once) for sale its really dependent on skill and strategy and some sites are really hard to utilize your range - really great review would say I've struggled with the magazines being tricky to load they have a weak tip which is easy to break with a speed loader etc
I bought one of these about 2 weeks ago,and so far i am very happy with it. It takes 6mm bbs. I use .2g and .28g bbs in it. The .28's are a special bb for sniping. They are almost invisible, and do more damage, but with less range. It fires at about 320 feet per second. For example using the .28g bb's, i was shooting straight through empty coke can's at 25 feet. Its a gorgeous looking gun, looks and feels amazing. If you want a sniper bb gun, buy this!!!
@MrSoduki no, it's a snow wolf M24, the VSR is a lighter more compact version of the M24, as the M24 is a gun created by the US army, modeld around the VSR and the R700
@Alexanderexis It's a bit tricky, you have to remove the forward lug on the receiver (before you install the barrel assembly) then fit the included bipod onto the new lug.
@MrTriqle There are plenty of options available for CQB, it all depends on your taste in guns. The most common gun types are M4 & AK, in my view M4s are more suited to CQB as they are usually more customisable (and I hate AKs) which can be an advantage in CQB as you may need to add a torch and/or laser. G&P make some excellent AEGs that are nicely suited to CQB, I use a G&P Troy M7 (sadly now discontinued) and it is excellent. Another option to look at would be a P90.
I own this gun, it is very good, I have fully upgrade it with pdi/raven pieces. The only problem, is like said in the video, is the mags, you'll need more than one because they break easily!
@2oo81996 If I had to choose between the two it would be a tough choice. I loved the operation of the M24 with its more standard bolt configuration, it's also lighter & shorter so easier to move around with and more importantly, be stealthy with! However, if we're talking about accuracy the Dragunov would win, not by a massive margin, but enough to make the difference.
The sniper is lone hunter. Do remember that. Thus the role requires a different type of approach when it comes to field craft and tactics. You don't rush with the main force - you are to flank, route, wreak havoc using the advantage of range(sort of) and precision of the sniper rifle. If you're more like the assault-type of players, then changing to and implementing the mindset of the sniper will take time, during which your actual game experience... may vary. One side note - given that many facilities imply special rules about the usage of sniper rifles, one should consider investing in a sidearm - spring or gas-operated pistol for close range engagements. Me being in the position of a yet-to-try... player have already made up my mind about the sniper role and if the budget allows, I'm going for it.
@ChEkAlOtIcH3 It's a good while ago but I think it was around 300fps w/0.2gr. Here in Ireland we are restricted to 1joule muzzle energy which is ~328fps w/0.2gr BBs
@DMclonmellon I presume they are specific to that rifle but it looked very similar to other mags from other M24/L96 rifles. Best bet is to call MIA to see if they have them in stock, it's practically impossible to put every item on the website
yes that's true, don't go with a sniper if its your first, but, the snow wolf M82 is full auto so i don't know what you want to say about that, but, i would probably try it.
Gavin, agreed. He seems more interested in discussing the role of sniper, than the gun's suitability for that. No tech info, and his buddy's wasn't much better.
in airsoft everyone is an infantry man,few are LMG/SAW gunners and even fewer are snipers...it really takes skill to be a sniper,thats why i'm jealous :P
@DAVIDAKADAISY Probably not, it's a decent enough platform but if you want a 'professional' sniper gun you might be better advised starting off with a higher-end platform like the TM VSR or similar
@MrTriqle King Arms certainly make nice externals but they are very expensive compared to similar AEGs from other vendors. G&P are excellent, G&G are very good, Classic Army had a bad reputation but seem to be working on sorting out their issues, ICS do funny things with their internals, Tokyo Marui are generally excellent. Even with the very best AEGs there will be failures, find something you like from a decent brand & take a chance
MIA in Blanchardstown sell them. I got mine there hasn't gone wrong at all a year down the line great rifle but he's right get an AEG 1st for going into the field it's just more of a laugh
hey oddy and mark! I have a few questions: what fps is it? how heavy is it and is it easy to pull back the bolt? and in MIA they only ever have 4 snipers, they never change it, so is it in the shop itself.please reply.
I think snipers are very essential to winning a game, Not just a bunch of aeg guys running around on full auto. With a sniper you have to blend with your surroundings, not be seen or heard and there is no feeling like staring at someone through your scope without them knowing and.... bam... HIT!
Can you send me links to the upgrade parts you got? Or just tell me what parts you got in particular? I'm looking to upgrade it and cant find the right stuff. Thanks :)

I had a mess around with this gun in m.i.a yesterday and the only thing i dont like is the width of the grip
Great review as usual :)
Nice Sniper Rifle, and good review.
I'm definitely starting to warm up to mark he seems like a decent fella
love the new intro guys, well done ;)

On Evike website you can buy this rifle pre-upgraded, rated at 600fps.
Hi I was wondering what size the two screws are that hold the gun together as I lost them plz help

@The789adaptor go for the m24 as its the whole package , the dragonov in my opinion only looks good with the authentic scope
what barrel should i upgrade to i didint hear what he sayd?
The guy at the end is totally right, airsoft sniping is all concealment, it's really fucking hard, medium distance g3 for the win.
@DMclonmellon

no the echo 1 m28 has a fluted barrel and also the echo 1 is known to ''break'' or start slam firing after about 200 shots
I really like this review good work. 5/5
Gavin, agreed. He seems more interested in discussing the role of sniper, than the gun's suitability for that. No tech info, and his buddy's wasn't much better.

How did you get your Green screen to work properly? because I have one but I need help to get the light perfect
if this is a starter what would you recommend for a professional sniping gun?
what wieght bb should i get for this gun? my sniping range would probably be 100-150ft (200ft at most)
For all the people with questions check it out on evike.com theres alot of other great sniper rifles and AEG's as well as this one.
Made me buy gun it's great thanks lads
@MrTriqle

wt kind of sling should i get for this if i wanna carry it on my back??
where did you buy the bipod and id you need to install RIS rails
@xXVirusUnloadedXx Responsibility, Airsoft and paintball both should never be done without eye protection. Ever, period.
MIA in Blanchardstown sell them. I got mine there hasn't gone wrong at all a year down the line great rifle but he's right get an AEG 1st for going into the field it's just more of a laugh
is the barrel able to fit a 14mm barrel extension?
i was just wondering what fps it shoots at and what gram bbs you used
@killer7343 What do you mean when ''hunting'' with an airsoft sniper?
what bb pellet size will i need for this gun? (mm) please reply,
how far away were you shooting from?
Can anyone tell me the length of the barrel in this rifle please?
hey oddy and mark! I have a few questions: what fps is it? how heavy is it and is it easy to pull back the bolt? and in MIA they only ever have 4 snipers, they never change it, so is it in the shop itself.please reply.
Is this compatible with the Classic Army M24? Seems like it is a copy of the CA?
@blazer782 no my safety was off
where can you buy this in ireland?, or can you because ive checked the mia website and the hobby airsoft website.
@IrishAirsofting they dont have them in stock yet :(
I think the dragunove looks better! but its about the looks. Which is better?
Lads, how do you get these from MIA!? the guns are not on the website or in-store, do you import them specially through MIA or what?
would you get this or the Steyr Mannlicher SSG 69 P2
Does this rifle have a tighter barrel availible?
Has anyone else had problems with this rifle not shooting? If you have, how in the hell do you fix it!
Try this with a m150 or more spring
I'll buy this in the future :)
this is wayyy better than the steyr 69 p2 im getting this one instead !
@markoriordan101
I'm afraid we can only review what retailers are willing to lend us so a RealSword SVD might be hard to come by
Wot mags can it teak
Can you use plastic bbs in this gun
@Failsafeman100
25 yards, I was very clear about it in the review
How many bb's does the standard mag hold?
does it not come with a magazine?
Is it accurate enough to use 0.25g bbs in this gun?
hey oddy i was looking on m.i.a and cant find this gun...have they stopped selling them or what is the story? thanks great reveiw
Anyone knows if the sears on this gun are metal?
I think snipers are very essential to winning a game, Not just a bunch of aeg guys running around on full auto. With a sniper you have to blend with your surroundings, not be seen or heard and there is no feeling like staring at someone through your scope without them knowing and.... bam... HIT!
Can you do a review on the wa 308 sniper rifle?
@XsAKroNiiKzZ1 feet per second and joule is a measurement of energy
How much does the package cost?
how many meter is it's range
@MegaCoDHero
Not much point in aksing us to get it back in stock as we don't work for any retailer, best let the retailer know you are looking for one
How to mount a bipod on it? :(
What distance did you test fire it at?
what power does this use? spring,gas?
At what range did you do your shooting test? 30m?
Can you send me links to the upgrade parts you got? Or just tell me what parts you got in particular? I'm looking to upgrade it and cant find the right stuff. Thanks :)
What is your scope
Is this gun good to start being a sniper
Would you recommend to buy this Sniper Rifle? Is it worth of buying?
