I got this game when it first came out on the Genesis. The build was different because you started the game at the stage that starts at 5:00 here. And you got 12hp with no way of refilling. You died and that was it. Like a super hard version of Karateka.
Don't forget the 4 P's. Points Puzzles Pop Quizzes and Prizes. 😂 I loved that show as a kid, and its neat to rewatch them and see all the weird arcade cabinets they had. Some were made just for that show.
This game reminds me of an MST quote: "I had a dream like this when I took Sudafed and NyQuil at the same time once." I struggle to explain what so many things in this game look like, as in, if I were to try to describe what I'm seeing, I'd just be at a loss. Earthworm Jim wasn't half this weird...or even a third.
What… the hell is this game? It looks like a Ninja Gaiden cutscene simulator half of the time and the other half looks like a hellish Ghouls ‘n Ghosts level. Seems like the developers of this game couldn’t agree on one theme either so they just said “screw it, do them all!! Dinosaurs? Cavemen? Blimps? SPACE?? Hell yeah!” What an odd game. Great short TAS run to watch though!
...I'm sorry but WHAT the heck was this. Like... I mean, was the final boss? .....a foot...? also, and someone can verify this, but I feel like literally every single ladder he climbs over the course of this game leads to a new enemy, whether it be a demon possessed slinky (3:51) or some barrels (?) that have finally Had Enough of society. (8:30)
That final screen is such a let-down. It could have been so much cooler, like... show me a colony of whatever the player's race is turning the corpse of the final boss into a small city.
Lol, I never understood this game. And after seeing how short it actually is I'm glad I never bought it new. Great looking game, great soundtrack, but damn it's hard if you don't know where to go or have all the enemies memorized. 😂
It honestly looks like what it is, a port of a computer game. There were a handful of PC games and demos I played as a kid that had this kind of look and gameplay

3:35 shoutout to the Psygnosis logos
Ok this is pretty good, but I wonder if the game will randomly turn into a shoot-em up

This sound track sounds like the person who did the one for Cheetah Men did this one as well, with a larger budget.
This looks like the kind of gameplay this game would have :P
I don't know what the hell I just watched, but that's some of the most badass music!
i’ve never heard of by his game but wow i actually love the way this looks
There was one of every enemy type in this game.
EVERY enemy type.
When someone decides to turn a tech demo into a full game
I saw this game on Nick Arcade! Nostalgic!
Don't forget the 4 P's.
Points
Puzzles
Pop Quizzes
and Prizes.

Pretty impressive graphics
Ah, yes, the game Ahoy mentions on his graphics video.

Crazy to bring back this game. It really was difficult and depressing
This is what the devs thought it should play like...
But it never did.

Punch a toenail to free yourself from the Shadow of the Beast!

this game legit has the death star in the sky back ground lmao
😁
Wow. That game looks like it was was garbage.
Nice TAS, though.

Just like the sequel, this is a bad port of an already bad game. Amiga platformers always had no thought in the level design and it shows
This game is so bad, glad to see tas abusing it

Good for you, have a blue shell.
