    Okay. I am jealous about your slab roller lol. I have tried to do test tiles on the wheel but have messed them up. Maybe next time it will work. It is crazy the numbers of combinations you can get off a few glazes. Great video as always :-). You have encouraged me to try the wheel test tiles again

    Marie, Nice job as usual. Sill question: When the little hook hole gets filled with glaze can you grind it out with a small drill bit?

  • @michelledougenik4666
    @michelledougenik4666 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for this. I have two questions for you. 1. Does it matter if you brush vs dip the test tiles? 2. How do you store your tiles in your studio?

    • @PotteryCrafters
      @PotteryCrafters  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a very good question Michelle. You should apply the glaze the same as you would apply it to your pottery.
      Otherwise you won't get the same results.

    What was the green glaze/combo at 11:40? Also wonderful video! I would have never thought of making them on the wheel but that seems like a fast easy way to make a lot

      Hi Aurora, Thank you. It is 3 coats of Amaco Lustrous Jade, and I dipped the rim of the test tile in Amaco Albany Slip Brown. I love that one too. Yes, I like making the test tiles on the wheel. I get around 30 of them. 😊

    Great video Mary!
    I was wondering if you have a video on “how to make series” on the wheel 🤔
    Same size of anything: mug-bowl-vase etc!!
    I am progressing very well, but cannot seem to be able to make same size of anything… close, correcting on trimming but… not there!!😏 Thanks

      Hi Suzie, Thank you. I do have a series” on the wheel that will be helpful. Here is the link for you th-cam.com/video/A6yovkrJBrY/w-d-xo.html It's ok if it's not the exact same size because that is the beauty of creating pottery. Every piece is unique. If you would like everything exact here is the link to a throwing gauge geni.us/AC801SF

    im using a glaze called Averturine a black brown amaco glaze cone 5-6. Ive used it on red clay and Grey clay and both have come out a purply black! The one that was white clay came out correct. Is it the clay im using and should i use less coats for red and grey clay? thanks so much. how could i send you pics?

    • @PotteryCrafters
      @PotteryCrafters  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is because Aventurine contains red iron oxide and is interacting with the clay color. The more coats you apply the darker the glaze will become. If you leave a comment on my pottery crafters website I can get back to. 😊

    Hi Marie. Can I use the miami pink glaze on terracotta and fire to cone 06?the firing temperature was given on website. I had a doubt if this glaze is compatible with terracotta

    • @PotteryCrafters
      @PotteryCrafters  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Meenu. If the clay and glaze are both low fire It should be fine. But you can always test fire to make sure. 😊

      @@PotteryCrafters thank you Marie. From your experience in pottery, which glazes would you recommend for terracotta cups to be made?

    • @PotteryCrafters
      @PotteryCrafters  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are most welcome Meenu. I like the low fire Amaco glazes. It is best to slow fire with terracotta clay to help prevent pin holes

      @@PotteryCrafters thank you Marie for your suggestion. I'll try terracotta bisqueware with low fire amaco glazes..

  • @meenusubrahmanian5692
    @meenusubrahmanian5692 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Marie..I have a doubt. I have given my terracotta pieces to be bisquefired. They will be bisquefiring at cone 06. In the specifications of glaze it's given that apply to bisqueware (cone 04) and then glaze fire at cone 06. Will the bisqiefiring at cone 06 and then glazefiring at cone 06 affect my glazing on my clay piece?

    • @PotteryCrafters
      @PotteryCrafters  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Meenu. That should be fine because bisque firing is done between cone 06 and 04. I have bisque fired at cone 04, 05, and 06. with no problem. Keep in mind that there are also potters that successfully single-fire. 😊

    • @meenusubrahmanian5692
      @meenusubrahmanian5692 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PotteryCrafters thank you Marie. I was told that bisquefiring at cone 06 and then again glazefiring at the same cone 06 on terracotta body might lead to glaze not absorbing to the clay body..is that so?

    • @PotteryCrafters
      @PotteryCrafters  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. I have never heard of that. Actually the higher you fire clay the less
      porous it becomes.
