Skipped MoP back in the day because 20 yr old me thought pandas in WoW were stupid. I've heard good things about the pvp so I'll give it a go this time around.
Cataclysm is the best of what is available in the classic branch today. If it weren't for him, I would have gone into retail. Of course, I will make the transition from Cataclysm to Pandaria and beyond to all addons.
I’m only interested in SoD atm. Just played normal classic for years I’m kind of looking for new stuff. It’s the closest thing to classic + as I can get.
sod is what i'm interested in too. i believe the naxx phase with the new dungeons and new content will give us what we want. aq phase is good, cthun is just too hard right now
@@NOHITJEROME Our guild just did a full AQ Temple last night on normal mode for the first time (we're a semi-casual guild). We really lucked out by having most of our core team there with some extra people that could off-tank in Twins room to help keep bugs off people and I was surprised we got to C'thun in the end (took three attempts) and downed him as well. I think most guilds though right now are having trouble getting enough of the core team there with the holiday/travel season in the USA as well as losing people to other games or just lack of interest in AQ phase in general. We used to have three core teams and now down to one big one for this month and will hopefully see more people coming back in January and increase to two teams again and hopefully see other guilds get more people back as well.
I feel that the lvling progress in modern wow is the problem lots of players dont like it. Never played classic and now i am in fresh and its all we dont have anymore in retail.
it's the opposite of classic leveling, i just wonder if there will be a backlash to the amount of time it takes to level, the amount of effort. maybe people will start to look at mop more favorably
Classic leveling took too long, but modern retail is too quick and easy. They should make the new xpacs leveling experience difficult with mobs being harder to kill or do more damage to add some challenge to it. People just blaze thru it with aoe leveling and it cheapens the whole experience.
As you mentioned, the timing is important. There would have to be a lack of new content in retail wow, and people getting bored with classic or prefer.... and then u could have prefer which would bring people from both retail and classic era realms to go play MoP. I loved classic when I first played it, but I prefer SoD cause it fixes alot of issues that classic had like bad gear/stat itemization or design, the under developed classes/specs/talents, esp for hybrid dps classes like my Enhancement Shaman or for people who want to tank as a druid or pally but can't cause of lack of necessary abilities like a taunt .... plus cool new stuff like shaman tank (which I have wanted forever). Also, stuff like dual spec or even trispec. As for LFR.... I didn't think it was that big of a deal, and it was certainly useful to get your classes gear set with its bonuses... but I thought that they should make the last wing or last boss unavailable to fight in LFR to tease players and make them want to try the actual raid at just normal difficulty to actually kill the last boss..... or only make the last boss available in LFR when the new patch and new raid become available.
I don’t think it matters what expansion it is at this point. The general player shift to min maxing has cooked these rehashed expansions. You see it on all these TH-cam channels; how to guides, be the fastest to level, spam dungeons, spam heroics to be the first to raid etc . Only to get to there and be bored three weeks later. It’s all to a varying degree but my experience has been this general rush to do things. Even in ‘casual’ raiding guilds there’s a mad dash to clear content. I remember back in original BC and inspecting players gear and thinking ‘wow! Can’t wait to raid and get that sorta gear’ while I was still struggling on heroics. You had a sense of who the top guilds were on your server and there was a bit of envy or a want to join them. Aside from working to get better gear which, in the past, was more of a challenge you needed to be social as well. The game just feels like a grind and a little anonymous now, like I’m not even playing with other people.
dang richard, our guild is struggling but i think in a week or two things will stabilize and we can combine raid groups. if you play on cs horde we'd have a spot for you if you are interested.
I'm one of the stubborn players, only played Vanilla, TBC, WotLK, quit a month into Cata. The only version of WoW that's kept my interest for more than a week has been SoD (since last December now), and when that's over I'm parking again until an actual Classic+. I just can't do Fresh anymore, SoD made the 'meme specs' so enjoyable, and there's zero interest for MoP for me.
There’s too many issues with the middle expans Wotlk - cata - mop Heirlooms, boring leveling, mop introduces that aids leveling tree, overall mid zones and ass raids. It’s just not that good only time I’ll even consider playing progression classic is when legion rolls around
im going to give it a shot as long as they dont stack it with 3 retail expansions and 4 new classic launches like theyve been doiing lately lol - no chance in hell you play mop?
That's the saddest attempt I've seen someone make at trying to come up with something catchy to hate on something. BTW, you're in the minority if you don't think MoP was better than Cata by a mile.
I don't think LFR was beneficial to the game. The fact that you could go through the raid even without a guild made them less special. Upgrades became too common, you didn't even have to try to take down a world boss or LFR to get free epic loot. Of course, it was worse than normal raid gear, but the next tier's LFR already had an item level similar to the previous normal tier. Around the end of MoP, you had so many ways to get items it was insane. Timeless, World bosses, LFR and flex raiding. It took a lot from normal and heroic raids being the best way to get better gear. But even then, there wasn't actually more end-game content. Doing all this stuff was no longer worthwhile after you reached a certain checkpoint, after that there was only raiding (and doing the occasional Isle of Thunder solo scenario). I would have preferred if they actually gave us a Thorgast+Proving grounds+dungeon crawler-type of hard solo content, which rewarded a normal raid tier item of your choosing every week. (or perhaps gold) I would have sacrificed scenarios and the Brawler's guild any day for that if they implemented it well! 😂
As Asmongold said, if MoP had the theme of WoD, it would've been considered the best expansion ever. And I think he's absolutely right. It's the Eastern aesthetics that people refuse to acquire a taste for. It's beautiful and charming once u do, but not everyone has the patience/tolerance in order to acquire it. Obviously, the big fat panda was a turn off for pretty much everyone, including myself, so I can't excuse that But on another note, I'm definitely excited, as I mostly pvp'd in MoP. I heard so many good things about the raids so you know I'm going all in this time around!

no interest at all in mop rusty? between the class balancing and the raids im interested. the pserver for mop was well received and everyone got way into it for a while
Mop isnt classic and its dog water
Mop was trash…
no ones gonna play MOP classic lmao
And 10k active characters of lvl 85 are also not playing Cataclysm on my server? It's funny how much people are afraid to find out the truth and do everything in order not to know it.
I hated mop so no
what did you hate about it articulate? i'm interested as i've seen a lot of positivity around it, i suppose LFR really became a mainstay, and the open world was dead at that point too
You are dumb lol. Mop was the best PvP expansion ever. You are blind
